# Social Media Finder (Official Brand Profile Links) (`webdatatools/social-media-finder`) Actor

Social Media Finder reads a company or brand website and returns its official social profile links: Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn company page, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Threads. Uses the site itself (footer and schema.org sameAs links), no search engine.

## Pricing

from $1.70 / 1,000 domain with social profiles

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Social Media Finder (Official Brand Profile Links)

### What is Social Media Finder?

Social Media Finder takes company or brand website domains and returns the official social profile links the site itself declares: Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn company page, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Threads. It reads the homepage directly, from the schema.org `sameAs` data and from the footer, header and social icon links. No search engine and no proxy are used, so the cost per domain is tiny.

### What data does Social Media Finder extract?

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `domain` | string | The normalised input domain, for example `shopify.com` |
| `finalUrl` | string or null | The page that was read after redirects |
| `status` | integer or null | HTTP status of the homepage |
| `instagram`, `x`, `facebook`, `linkedin`, `youtube`, `tiktok`, `pinterest`, `threads` | string or null | Profile URL for each platform, or null when none was found |
| `profileCount` | integer | How many platforms have a profile |
| `source` | string | `sameAs`, `footer`, `sameAs+footer` or `none` |
| `note` | string or null | `no-profile-links-found` or `site-unreachable: <reason>` |
| `scrapedAt` | string | ISO timestamp of the run |

Only profile-shaped links are kept: share buttons, post links (for example `instagram.com/p/...`), YouTube watch links, X intent links and similar are rejected.

### How to use Social Media Finder

1. Type one domain per line in **Website domains**, for example `shopify.com`. Full URLs are accepted and reduced to the domain.
2. Keep **Return domains without social links** on to get a row for every domain, or turn it off to get only domains with at least one profile.
3. Start the run and download the dataset.

### Example input

```json
{
    "domains": ["shopify.com", "hubspot.com", "figma.com", "nike.com"],
    "includeWithoutProfiles": true
}
```

### Example output

Real rows from a cloud run on 23 October 2026 (12 domains, all rows below are from that run):

```json
{
    "domain": "shopify.com",
    "finalUrl": "https://www.shopify.com/",
    "status": 200,
    "instagram": "https://www.instagram.com/shopify",
    "x": "https://x.com/Shopify",
    "facebook": "https://www.facebook.com/shopify",
    "linkedin": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/shopify",
    "youtube": "https://www.youtube.com/user/shopify",
    "tiktok": "https://www.tiktok.com/@shopify",
    "pinterest": "https://www.pinterest.com/shopify",
    "threads": null,
    "profileCount": 7,
    "source": "sameAs+footer",
    "note": null
}
```

Other rows from the same run: `nike.com` 5 profiles (`sameAs`), `figma.com` 6 (`sameAs`), `mozilla.org` 4 (`footer`), `patagonia.com` 0 (`no-profile-links-found`), `doesnotexist-zzqx-12345.com` unreachable (`site-unreachable: getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND`).

### Input parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `domains` | string array | `["shopify.com"]` | Website domains, one per line. At most 50 per run. |
| `includeWithoutProfiles` | boolean | `true` | Return rows for domains without profile links (not charged) |

### Pricing

Pay per domain: one event for each domain where at least one profile link was found. Domains without profiles and unreachable sites are not charged.

| Plan | Price per domain with profiles |
|---|---|
| FREE | $0.003 |
| BRONZE | $0.0025 |
| SILVER | $0.002 |
| GOLD | $0.0017 |
| PLATINUM | $0.0017 |
| DIAMOND | $0.0017 |

Cost measured on the platform: a 12-domain run used about $0.00019 of platform usage (run `u9iF6SekK6GfTrSqy`, 23 October 2026). No proxy is used, so the margin is high at every plan.

### Social Media Finder vs. search-based finders

This Actor does not search Google for social accounts. Site-search queries (`site:instagram.com "Brand"`) returned unrelated profiles for several brands in tests on 23 October 2026, so that approach was left out. The trade-off: the Actor only finds profiles the company website links to, which is usually the official account, but it misses companies whose site has no social links or whose links are added by JavaScript.

### Using Social Media Finder with AI agents and MCP

The Actor is pay-per-event with limited permissions, so it can be called through the Apify MCP server. An agent sends `domains` and gets back one structured row per domain with the profile URL for each platform.

### FAQ

**Are these the official accounts?** They are the accounts the company website links to, through schema.org `sameAs` or its own footer, header or icon links. The Actor cannot verify ownership beyond that link.

**Why is a domain returned with no profiles?** The homepage may have no social links, may load them with JavaScript, or may block requests from data-centre IPs. The `note` field says which case was seen. Only the homepage is read, not inner pages.

**Does it follow redirects?** Yes, up to four redirects, and it tries `https://domain` and then `https://www.domain`.

**Is any personal or account data collected?** No. The Actor reads public homepage HTML only, and does not log in to any platform.
