## Pricing

from $0.30 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What is Woolworths AU Scraper?

Woolworths AU Scraper collects product search results from woolworths.com.au, Australia's largest supermarket chain. Give it a keyword such as `milk` or `oat milk` and it returns one row per product: name, brand, pack size, shelf price, was-price on specials, unit price per litre or kilogram, stock flag, image, product link and stockcode. It reads the JSON API that the Woolworths search page loads, so no browser runs and no login is needed.

### What data does Woolworths AU Scraper extract?

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `stockcode` | string | Woolworths product code (stable key). |
| `name` | string | Product display name including pack size. |
| `brand` | string | Brand as listed (missing for some products). |
| `packageSize` | string | Pack size, e.g. `3L`. |
| `price` | number | Current shelf price in AUD. |
| `wasPrice` | number | Previous price, only when it is above `price`; otherwise null. |
| `onSpecial` | boolean | Whether Woolworths flags the product as on special. |
| `unitPrice` | number | Price per unit of measure (`unitOfMeasure`), e.g. per 1 L. |
| `unitPriceText` | string | Unit price as shown on the site, e.g. `$1.65 / 1L`. |
| `unitOfMeasure` | string | Unit of the unit price, e.g. `1L`. |
| `inStock` | boolean | Stock flag from the search API. |
| `rating` | number | Average rating. Null when the product has no reviews. |
| `reviewCount` | number | Number of reviews. |
| `imageUrl` | string | Product image (medium size). |
| `url` | string | Product page link built from the stockcode and URL slug. |
| `department` | string | SAP department name from the product attributes. |
| `isSponsoredAd` | boolean | Whether the tile is a sponsored ad. |
| `searchTerm` | string | Keyword that produced the row. |
| `page`, `position` | number | Search page and rank within the keyword's results. |
| `totalResults` | number | Total hits Woolworths reported for the keyword. |
| `scrapedAt` | string | ISO time of the scrape. |

### How to use Woolworths AU Scraper

1. Open the Actor and enter one or more keywords separated by `;`, for example `milk; bread; eggs`.
2. Set **Max products per search** (default 100). Each keyword is scraped separately, up to this limit.
3. Leave **Proxy mode** on `auto`. The Actor tries a direct connection first and switches to Apify's Australian residential proxy only when Woolworths blocks the request.
4. Click **Start**, then download the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.

### Example input

```json
{
    "keywords": "milk; bread",
    "maxProducts": 30
}
```

### Example output

Real rows from a run on 2026-10-23 (keyword `milk`, first two results):

```json
[
  {
    "stockcode": "888140",
    "name": "Woolworths Full Cream Milk 3L",
    "brand": "Woolworths",
    "packageSize": "3L",
    "price": 4.95,
    "wasPrice": null,
    "onSpecial": false,
    "unitPrice": 1.65,
    "unitPriceText": "$1.65 / 1L",
    "unitOfMeasure": "1L",
    "inStock": true,
    "rating": null,
    "reviewCount": 0,
    "imageUrl": "https://cdn0.woolworths.media/content/wowproductimages/medium/888140.jpg",
    "url": "https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/888140/woolworths-full-cream-milk",
    "department": "FRESH CONVENIENCE",
    "isSponsoredAd": false,
    "searchTerm": "milk",
    "page": 1,
    "position": 1,
    "totalResults": 2703
  }
]
```

### Input parameters

| Parameter | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| `keywords` | `milk` | Search terms separated by `;`. |
| `maxProducts` | 100 | Products per keyword, 1 to 5000. |
| `proxyMode` | `auto` | `auto` (direct, residential only after a block), `never` (direct only), `always` (residential from the start). |

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.50 per 1,000 products** on the free tier, falling to $0.30 per 1,000 on the highest tiers. The Actor start is charged separately ($0.05 per 1,000 starts). Measured on a 1,000-product run (4 keywords, 2026-10-23): $0.046 in total at 4 GB memory, of which $0.014 was residential proxy traffic (1.89 MB, used after three direct blocks at the start of the run). Expect a lower cost at the default 512 MB; that setting was not measured separately. Apify's public listing of the closest competitor (`dromb/woolworths-au-product-search-catalog-unofficial`, 276 monthly users on 2026-10-23) charges $0.60 per 1,000 results on its free tier.

### Woolworths AU Scraper vs. the alternative

The closest public Woolworths scraper charges $0.60 per 1,000 results on its free tier; this Actor charges $0.50. Both read product search results. This Actor also returns the unit price, was-price and stockcode directly in every row.

### Using Woolworths AU Scraper with AI agents / MCP

The Actor is pay per result and accepts a plain keyword input, so an AI agent can call it through the Apify MCP server with `{"keywords": "milk", "maxProducts": 50}`. The output is a flat list of rows, one per product, with the fields above. Keep `maxProducts` small in agent calls to limit cost.

### FAQ

**Does it need a Woolworths account?** No. It reads the public search API.

**Which region is it for?** Woolworths Australia. Prices are AUD and reflect the default store/fulfilment setting of the search API (not a specific store).

**Why is `rating` null for most products?** Most search results have no reviews. In the 1,000-product test run on 2026-10-23 no product had a review count above zero, so the rating path was not exercised against live reviews. Treat `rating` as unverified until a run returns reviewed products.

**Why do some rows have no `brand` or `packageSize`?** Woolworths does not return those attributes for every product. The field is left empty instead of guessed.

**Is the `url` field verified?** It is built from the stockcode and the URL slug in the search result using the site's product page pattern. It was not checked by opening every page; the Actor does not follow links.

**What happens when Woolworths blocks the Actor?** Akamai answers some requests with an "Access Denied" page. The Actor retries after short waits, then switches to residential proxy for the rest of the run. Searches that still fail are listed in the `ERRORS` record and are not charged.

**Can I scrape a specific category or store?** Not yet. The Actor searches by keyword only.

**What if the same product matches two keywords?** It is returned once, under the first keyword that found it, and counted once in the charge.

### Limitations

- Keyword search only; no category browsing, store-level prices or stock per store.
- Store-independent prices and stock as returned by the search API. Local stock can differ.
- Reviews and ratings are not verified on live data (see FAQ).
- Results are capped by `maxProducts`. The highest total seen was 2,954 hits for one keyword (`eggs`, 2026-10-23).
