## Pricing

from $7.00 / 1,000 page auditeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Accessibility Checker: WCAG 2.2 & BFSG

Audits web pages for accessibility barriers with **axe-core** in a real Chromium browser and returns a clear, scored report per page. Reports are available in **German** (default) or English.

Since 28 June 2025 the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG, the national law for the European Accessibility Act) applies to many consumer-facing online shops and services. First warning letters (Abmahnungen) have been reported. This Actor helps agencies, shops and developers find the issues an automated test can detect.

### What you get per page

| field | meaning |
|---|---|
| `score`, `grade` | 0 to 100 and A to E, weighted by impact |
| `byImpact` | number of failed rules per impact: critical, serious, moderate, minor |
| `violations` | rule, description, WCAG criteria (e.g. 1.4.3), level A/AA, number of elements, example selectors and HTML, help link |
| `needsReview` | checks axe could not decide automatically |
| `bfsgHint` | shown when the page looks like an online shop |

### Features

- Rule sets: WCAG 2.0 A/AA, **WCAG 2.1 AA** (BFSG, EN 301 549) or WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Real browser rendering, so JavaScript sites are tested as users see them.
- Optional mini crawl: follow internal links up to 50 pages per site.
- Bulk lists of thousands of URLs.

### Pricing

$0.01 per audited page. Pages that fail to load are not charged.

### Limits

Automated tests typically find 30 to 50 % of all accessibility issues. Keyboard flows, screen reader wording and media alternatives need a manual review. This is not legal advice.

### Input example

```json
{ "urls": ["https://www.example.com"], "standard": "wcag21aa", "language": "de", "pagesPerSite": 5 }
```

axe-core is developed by Deque Systems and licensed under MPL-2.0.

### FAQ

**What am I charged for?** One event per audited page. Pages that fail to load come back as items with an `error` field and are not charged.

**How many pages are checked?** By default only the URL you enter. Set `pagesPerSite` (up to 50) to follow internal links on the same site, breadth first. `maxPages` (default 500, at most 5000) caps the whole run.

**Does it test JavaScript sites?** Yes. Each page is loaded in a real Chromium browser before axe-core runs, so content rendered by JavaScript is included.

**Do I need a proxy or a login?** No login is needed. Apify Proxy is optional and only helps with sites that block datacenter traffic.

**Is the result legal advice?** No. Automated tests typically find 30 to 50 % of all accessibility issues, and every item carries a disclaimer saying so.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

This Actor works as a tool for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients through the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp). Add only this Actor:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=webify-lab/accessibility-checker-bfsg-wcag
```

On first use the server signs you in with OAuth. Alternatively send the header `Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_TOKEN>`. Agents on the default Apify MCP setup can also find this Actor with `search-actors` and run it with `call-actor`. Pricing is the same as in Apify Console: you pay per result.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Each URL is audited. With 'Pages per site' above 1, internal links are followed.

## `standard` (type: `string`):

Rule set. BFSG and EN 301 549 refer to WCAG 2.1 AA.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of rule descriptions in the report.

## `pagesPerSite` (type: `integer`):

1 checks only the given URL. Higher values follow internal links (breadth first).

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Safety limit per run.

## `includeBestPractices` (type: `boolean`):

Adds axe best-practice rules that are not WCAG requirements.

## `maxExamples` (type: `integer`):

How many affected elements to list per rule.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional, for sites that block datacenter traffic.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://www.w3.org/WAI/demos/bad/before/home.html"
  ],
  "standard": "wcag21aa",
  "language": "de",
  "pagesPerSite": 1,
  "maxPages": 500,
  "includeBestPractices": false,
  "maxExamples": 3,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One dataset item per audited page: url, title, standard, score (0-100), grade (A-E), violationCount, affectedElements, byImpact, needsReview, passedRules, violations (rule, impact, description, wcag criteria, level, elements, examples, helpUrl), bfsgHint, htmlLang.
