## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Career Site Jobs Scraper: open jobs from Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Recruitee

An ATS jobs API for company career sites. Get every open job a company lists on its own careers page,
straight from the job board (applicant tracking system) it runs on.
Paste careers page URLs or company names; get one clean, consistent row per job, whichever of five
job board systems the company uses. **You pay per job returned. Boards that fail or have no jobs are free.**

### What it does

Many companies publish their jobs through an applicant tracking system (ATS) such as Greenhouse,
Lever or Ashby. Each of these offers a public job-board API that powers the company's own careers
page. This Actor reads those public APIs and turns five different formats into one table:

| Job board system | Example input |
|---|---|
| Greenhouse (US and EU) | `https://boards.greenhouse.io/acme`, `job-boards.eu.greenhouse.io/acme`, `greenhouse:acme` |
| Lever (US and EU) | `https://jobs.lever.co/acme`, `jobs.eu.lever.co/acme`, `lever:acme` |
| Ashby | `https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/acme`, `ashby:acme` |
| Workable | `https://apply.workable.com/acme`, `workable:acme` |
| Recruitee | `https://acme.recruitee.com`, `recruitee:acme` |

Don't know which system a company uses? Enter just the name (`acme`) and the Actor tries each one.

**SmartRecruiters:** its API's robots.txt disallows automated access, and this Actor respects
robots.txt, so SmartRecruiters boards come back as a free `blocked_by_robots_txt` row.

### Who uses it

- **Job boards and newsletters** that list jobs from a fixed set of companies (for example all
  startups in a portfolio) and refresh them daily.
- **Recruiters and sales teams** who track which companies are hiring for which roles
  (hiring is a strong buying signal).
- **Analysts and researchers** who follow hiring by department, location or remote share.
- **Job seekers** who watch a shortlist of employers for new roles.

### Input

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "https://boards.greenhouse.io/airbnb",
    "https://jobs.lever.co/palantir",
    "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai",
    "acme"
  ],
  "titleKeywords": ["engineer", "data"],
  "excludeTitleKeywords": ["intern"],
  "locationKeywords": ["remote", "london"],
  "remoteOnly": false,
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "maxJobsPerCompany": 0,
  "includeDescription": true
}
```

All filters are optional. Jobs removed by filters are not charged.

### Output

One row per job:

```json
{
  "input": "https://jobs.lever.co/globex",
  "ats": "lever",
  "boardSlug": "globex",
  "companyName": "globex",
  "jobId": "aaaa-1111",
  "title": "Platform Engineer",
  "department": "Engineering",
  "team": "Platform",
  "location": "London",
  "locations": ["London", "Berlin"],
  "country": "GB",
  "remote": false,
  "workplaceType": "hybrid",
  "employmentType": "Full-time",
  "postedAt": "2025-10-09T08:53:20+00:00",
  "updatedAt": null,
  "url": "https://jobs.lever.co/globex/aaaa-1111",
  "applyUrl": "https://jobs.lever.co/globex/aaaa-1111/apply",
  "requisitionId": null,
  "salary": {"min": 70000, "max": 90000, "currency": "GBP", "interval": "per-year-salary", "text": null},
  "descriptionText": "We build things.\n\nRequirements\n\n- Rust\n- Kubernetes\n\nBenefits: health.",
  "descriptionHtml": null,
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-26T00:00:00+00:00",
  "error": null
}
```

A board that cannot be read gives one free row with `error` (`not_found`, `board_not_found`,
`no_open_jobs`, `blocked_by_robots_txt`, `http_error`, `network_error`). The run summary
(key-value store, key `SUMMARY`) counts jobs per job board system and failures per reason.

Fields that a job board does not publish are `null` (for example, only some boards publish salary).

### Pricing

Pay per event: you pay for each job returned (the "Job listing" event), plus Apify's small
per-run start fee. Boards that fail, have no open jobs, or are skipped, and jobs removed by your
filters, cost nothing. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### How it works

- One request per job board (all open jobs come back at once).
- robots.txt of each API host is checked first and respected by default.
- Honest User-Agent (`ATSJobsScraper`), timeouts, retries on temporary errors (429/5xx) with back-off,
  5 boards in parallel by default.
- No login, no proxy, no browser. Only the public job-board APIs that companies use for their own
  careers pages.

### Privacy

The Actor returns job information only. It selects a fixed list of job fields and never copies
recruiter or hiring-manager details that some APIs include. E-mail addresses inside job
descriptions are replaced with `[email removed]`.

### FAQ

**Which companies use these systems?** Many tech companies and startups use Greenhouse, Lever or
Ashby; Workable and Recruitee are common with small and mid-sized companies and in Europe. Open a company's careers page: the address of a job page usually shows the system.

**Can it read Workday, LinkedIn or Indeed?** No. This Actor reads only the five systems above
through their public job-board APIs.

**How fresh is the data?** It is read live from the job board when you run the Actor. Schedule it
daily to keep a list up to date.

**A company is "not found".** Check the name the company uses on its job board (it is in the
careers page URL), or paste the careers page URL itself.

### Limitations

- Only jobs that the company publishes on the job board's public API are returned (internal or
  unlisted jobs are not).
- Field coverage differs by system: for example, Greenhouse does not publish employment type, and
  Ashby boards do not give the company's display name (the board name is used).
- Automatic lookup of a bare company name takes up to five requests and picks the first system that
  has jobs under that name; use a URL or `ats:name` when you know the system.
