## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Local Business Website Audit

Give it a list of small-business websites and get back one row per site that says, in plain English, what is wrong with it: no mobile layout, a broken or expiring HTTPS certificate, or a site that does not load. Built for web agencies and freelancers who prospect local businesses and want a checkable reason to get in touch.

### What you get per website

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `domain`, `final_url`, `reachable` | The site after redirects, and whether it returned a page |
| `title`, `description` | Page title and meta description |
| `cms` | Detected platform (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and others) when it can be identified |
| `mobile_viewport` | Whether the page has a mobile viewport tag. Without it, phones show the desktop page shrunk down |
| `https_bare`, `https_www` | Certificate check on `example.com` and `www.example.com` separately: `status`, `days_left`, `detail` |
| `role_emails` | Role addresses published on the site (info@, sales@, office@). Personal-name addresses are never returned |
| `phones`, `social`, `contact_page` | Public contact details found on the page |
| `issues`, `issue_count` | The plain-English problem list |

Certificate `status` is one of `valid`, `expired`, `wrong_name`, `self_signed`, `untrusted`, `no_https` (port 443 refused), `check_failed` (reset or timeout after 3 tries; no HTTPS issue is claimed from it), `unresolved`, `blocked`.

#### Issues it reports

- no mobile viewport tag (page likely renders desktop-width on phones)
- no valid https certificate (Chrome shows "Not secure" or a full-page warning)
- https certificate fails on one of `example.com` / `www.example.com`
- certificate expires in N days
- site did not return a page

### Input

- **Websites**: domains or URLs, one per line, up to 5,000 per run. Duplicates are removed.
- **Only output sites with issues**: skip sites with no mobile or HTTPS issue.
- **Parallel checks**: 1 to 32 (default 8).

```json
{ "websites": ["example.com", "https://www.example.org"], "onlyWithIssues": true }
```

### What it does not do

- It reads the public homepage once and checks the certificate. It does not log in, submit forms, or crawl deep.
- It never returns page text or personal email addresses.
- It only fetches public internet addresses; private and local addresses are refused and come back as a row with an `error`.
- The viewport check tells you a mobile layout is missing. It is not a full Lighthouse or accessibility audit.

### Cost

$3.00 per 1,000 sites audited ($0.003 per site), platform usage included. Rows with an input error are free, and with `onlyWithIssues` on, clean sites are free too. The Pricing tab shows the date this price applies from; until then you pay only your own Apify platform usage.
