# Website Tech Stack Detector (`weio/website-tech-stack-detector`) Actor

Detect the tech stack of a list of websites: CMS or site builder (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow), e-commerce platform (Shopify, WooCommerce), analytics and ad pixels, marketing and chat tools, payments and hosting/CDN. A lightweight BuiltWith or Wappalyzer alternative for lead generation.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Tech Stack Detector

Give this actor a list of public website addresses and it returns the technologies each homepage visibly uses: CMS or site builder (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, GoDaddy, Duda, Joomla, Drupal...), e-commerce platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento), analytics and ad pixels (Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Clarity, Hotjar), marketing, chat and scheduling tools (HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Intercom, Calendly), payments (Stripe, PayPal), JavaScript frameworks, and hosting/CDN/web server read from response headers (Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, WP Engine, Nginx...). About 55 technologies.

Typical uses: qualify a lead list by platform (for example, only WordPress sites without analytics), size a market for a plugin or agency service, or check what a competitor runs.

It fetches only the public homepage, once, with a declared user agent (WeioTechStack). It does not log in, submit forms, crawl other pages or test for vulnerabilities. Rules match asset addresses, script calls and headers, not plain words, so a page that only mentions "WordPress" is not flagged. A missing technology is not proof that it is absent: some sites load tools only after a click or consent.

### Input

```json
{"websites":["brooklynbrewery.com","allbirds.com"],"concurrency":8}
```

Domains or full URLs, up to 5,000 per run.

### Output

One row per website:

```json
{"input":"allbirds.com","final_url":"https://www.allbirds.com/","status_code":200,
 "technologies":["Shopify","Google Tag Manager","Cloudflare"],
 "by_category":{"ecommerce":["Shopify"],"analytics":["Google Tag Manager"],"cdn":["Cloudflare"]},
 "technology_count":3,"generator":null,"error":null}
```

`generator` is the page's own generator meta tag when present (for example "WordPress 6.6"). Sites that could not be loaded appear with `error` set (for example `ConnectionError` or `HTTPError`) so you can fix or drop them.

### Pricing

$3.00 per 1,000 sites ($0.003 per site), platform usage included. You are charged only for sites that loaded; rows with an error are free.

        "brooklynbrewery.com",
        "allbirds.com"
    ]
};

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("weio/website-tech-stack-detector").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
