## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Congressional Oversight & Investigations Tracker

One clean feed of **congressional oversight activity** from official sources: hearing transcripts, committee reports, GAO audits, inspector general reports, executive actions and committee announcements. Every item is **tagged by the federal agencies it mentions** and checked against your **watchlist** (officials, agencies, companies, words like "subpoena" or "impeachment").

Oversight is set to intensify, whichever party controls the House after the 2026 midterms. This Actor is built for:

- law firms, compliance and government-relations teams preparing for congressional inquiries
- journalists and newsrooms
- watchdogs and think tanks
- investors tracking regulatory risk

It's **strictly neutral**: majority and minority committee feeds are both included, along with nonpartisan GAO and inspector general work.

### Sources

| Source | What it adds |
|---|---|
| GovInfo: congressional hearings | Newly published hearing transcripts (House and Senate) |
| GovInfo: committee reports | Committee reports, including investigative reports |
| GAO | GAO audit and investigation reports |
| DOJ Office of the Inspector General | DOJ IG audits, reviews and investigations |
| Federal Register | Executive orders, memoranda and proclamations |
| Senate committee schedule | Upcoming Senate hearings (when Congress is in session) |
| Committee press feeds | House Homeland Security, Ways & Means, Judiciary (majority and minority), Senate Finance |
| **Congress.gov committee meetings** | House and Senate hearings and markups: committee, status, location, **witness lists** and meeting documents |
| **Your own feeds** | Add any committee, inspector general or agency RSS/Atom feed |

### Output

  "summary": "...",
  "agencies": ["HHS"],
  "matchedKeywords": [],
  "itemId": "a1b2c3d4e5f6a7b8"
}
```
`type` is one of:
- `hearing_transcript`, `committee_report`, `gao_report`, `inspector_general`, `executive_action`
- `committee_press`, `scheduled_hearing`, `committee_meeting`, `custom_feed`
Committee meetings also include `committee`, `chamber`, `meetingType`, `status`, `location`, `witnesses` and `documents`.
### Input
```json
{
  "daysBack": 14,
  "watchKeywords": ["subpoena", "impeach", "Inspector General", "tariff"],
  "onlyWatchlistMatches": false,
  "agencies": ["DHS", "DOJ"],
  "onlyNewItems": true
}
```
Schedule it daily with **Only new items** turned on for an oversight alert feed.
### Pricing
**$2 per 1,000 items.** No start fee.
### Notes
- In October of an election year Congress is mostly in recess, so new hearings are rare. Published transcripts, reports and GAO work keep flowing.
- Agency tagging uses name and acronym matching, which is fast but not perfect. Check important items at the source link.
