## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Congress Stock Trades: House & Senate (STOCK Act)

Every **stock and asset trade disclosed by members of the US House and Senate**, parsed straight from the official sources: the Senate's eFD system and the House Clerk's Periodic Transaction Reports. Each trade is matched to the member's **party, state and committee assignments**, with a **late-filing flag**.

Built for journalists and newsrooms, transparency and watchdog groups, academic researchers, and analysts studying congressional trading. With House control in play in the 2026 midterms, congressional trading is likely to stay in the news.

### What you get

**One row per trade:**

- **Member:** name, chamber, party, state, district and Bioguide ID.
- **Committees:** current assignments, so trades can be checked against oversight areas.
- **Trade:**
  - transaction date and filing date
  - `daysToDisclose`, and `lateFiling` if more than 45 days after the trade
  - owner (self, spouse, joint or dependent child), ticker, asset name and asset type
  - transaction type (purchase, sale, partial sale or exchange)
  - reported amount range, plus numeric min/max
- **Link** to the official report.

**Filters:** chamber, member, party, ticker, transaction type, minimum amount and filing date range.

**Monitoring mode:** returns only trades not seen before. Schedule it daily for alerts.

**Strictly neutral:** every member of every party is covered.

### Example

```json
{
  "chamber": "Senate",
  "memberName": "Sheldon Whitehouse",
  "party": "Democrat",
  "state": "RI",
  "committees": ["Senate Committee on Finance", "..."],
  "transactionDate": "2026-09-04",
  "filedDate": "2026-10-01",
  "daysToDisclose": 27,
  "lateFiling": false,
  "owner": "Spouse",
  "ticker": "JPM",
  "assetName": "JP Morgan Chase & Co. Common Stock",
  "transactionType": "Sale (Partial)",
  "amount": "$15,001 - $50,000",
  "amountMin": 15001,
  "amountMax": 50000,
  "reportUrl": "https://efdsearch.senate.gov/search/view/ptr/..."
}
```

### Coverage and limits

- **Electronic filings are parsed fully:** all Senate eFD electronic reports, and House PDFs that have a text layer (the large majority).
- **Paper or scanned filings** (a small share) can't be read automatically. They're listed as free `unparsed_filing` rows with a link to the original.
- **Amounts are the ranges members report.** The law doesn't require exact values.
- **Typical volume:** a 30-day window holds roughly 200–600 trades.

### Pricing

**$2 per 1,000 trades.** Unparsed-filing rows are free. No start fee.

### Permitted use: please read
