## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Texas Gov IT & Telecom Purchases - Who Bought What from Whom

**See every technology purchase Texas state agencies, cities, counties, school districts and universities report through the state's DIR cooperative contracts: the buyer, vendor, reseller, brand, product, quantity, unit price and date, from official Texas data.**

### Who is this for?

- **Software, hardware, telecom and IT-services companies** that sell to Texas public-sector buyers
- **Resellers and channel partners** who want to know which agencies buy which brands, and through whom
- **Government sales and capture teams** planning territories, renewals and pricing
- **Market and competitor analysts** tracking public-sector spending by brand, product or vendor

### What can I use it for?

1. **Find buyers for your product.** Example: every school district that bought laptops last quarter, with brand, quantity and price paid, so you know who's refreshing devices and what they paid.
2. **Track a competitor.** Filter by brand or vendor (e.g. ServiceNow, Cisco) to see which agencies buy from them, through which resellers, and how much.
3. **Price smarter.** Compare real unit prices public buyers paid for the same product before you quote.

Turn on **Only new since my last run** and schedule it monthly to get only the newly reported purchases each time.

### Inputs (all optional)

| Input | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| **From / To report month** | Which monthly vendor reports to include (YYYY-MM, from 2025-09). Leave empty for the newest month. | `2026-01` to `2026-06` |
| **Buyer types** | Only these buyer kinds | `K-12 School`, `State Agency` |
| **Buyer name contains** | Only buyers whose name has this text | `Independent School District` |
| **Vendor or reseller name contains** | Only purchases from this vendor or reseller | `Dell`, `SHI` |
| **Brand contains** | Only this brand | `Microsoft` |
| **Product types** | Only these product types | `Software`, `Computers`, `Networking` |
| **Keyword in contract or product description** | Only purchases mentioning this word | `Laptop`, `Cybersecurity` |
| **Minimum purchase amount ($)** | Skip small line items | `10000` |
| **Sort by** | Biggest purchase, newest invoice, or buyer name A-Z | Biggest purchase first |
| **Maximum results** | Stop after this many purchase lines. You only pay for what you get. | `100` |
| **Only new since my last run** / **Memory name** | Skip purchases you already received | On / `K-12 team` |

### Output

Each row is one purchase line from a vendor's monthly sales report. Here are 5 real rows (June 2026):

| customerName | customerType | vendorName | resellerName | brandName | productSubtype | quantity | unitPrice | purchaseAmount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport | Local Government | SHI/GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS, INC. | - | Microsoft | General (Software) | 3,269 | 598.55 | 1,956,659.95 |
| Texas Department of Transportation | State Agency | Carahsoft Technology Corporation | Pure Business Solutions, LLC | ServiceNow | General (Software) | 1,400 | 1,129.32 | 1,581,048.00 |
| Texas Department of Public Safety | State Agency | Panasonic Corporation of North America | Rugged Solutions America, LLC | Panasonic | Ruggedized (Computers) | 400 | 3,610.00 | 1,444,000.00 |
| San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District | K-12 School | HP Inc. | InTech Southwest Services LLC | HPI | Laptop | 1,750 | 293.00 | 512,750.00 |
| Waxahachie Independent School District | K-12 School | Dell Marketing LP | - | Dell | Laptop | 816 | 417.01 | 340,280.16 |

Every row also includes `reportMonth`, `fiscalYear`, `productType`, `orderDate`, `invoiceDate`, `poNumber`, `invoiceNumber`, `contractNumber`, `contractDescription`, `contractType`, `contractEndDate`, HUB (historically underutilized business) types, `bulkPurchaseAgreement`, and for IT staffing contracts the `staffingRole`, `staffingTechnology` and `staffingLevel` (job details only, never the worker's name).

}
```
### How much does it cost?
**$3 per 1,000 purchase lines** ($0.003 each), and nothing else from this Actor.
- The top 100 purchases of a month cost **$0.30**.
- A filtered pull, such as one brand's sales to school districts for a quarter, usually costs a few dollars or less.
- The whole state for one month (about 80,000 lines) costs about **$240**, so use filters.
Use **Maximum results** or Apify's "max cost per run" to cap spending.
### FAQ
**Where does the data come from?**
The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) requires vendors on its cooperative contracts to report every sale each month. DIR publishes those reports on the Texas Open Data Portal (data.texas.gov, dataset "VSR Data for Cooperative & Tele Contracts FY2026+"). No logins and no private sources.
**How fresh is it?**
DIR updates the dataset monthly. Vendors report after each month closes, so the newest month is usually 2-3 months behind today. By default the Actor picks the newest month published.
**Does it include personal information?**
No. The state data includes staff names (buyer contacts, vendor contract managers, DIR contract managers and IT staffing contractor names). **The Actor never outputs any of those fields.** It only copies an approved list of business fields. Vendor and reseller names are blanked if they don't look like a company.
**Does this cover all government spending?**
No. It covers technology purchases made through DIR cooperative and telecom contracts, which is a major buying channel for Texas public-sector technology but not all of it (agencies also buy through their own contracts).
**Why does one invoice appear on several rows?**
Each row is one line item. An invoice with laptops and docking stations shows up as two rows. Exact duplicate lines in the state's file are removed, and you're not charged for them.
**What about data before September 2025?**
Older years (FY2010-2025) are in a separate archived DIR dataset with a different format. Ask on the Issues tab if you need it.
**Something's wrong or missing?**
Open an issue on the **Issues** tab and I'll take a look.
# Actor input Schema
## `monthFrom` (type: `string`):
First month of vendor sales reports to include, e.g. 2026-01. Data starts 2025-09. Leave both month fields empty to get the newest published month.
## `monthTo` (type: `string`):
Last report month to include, e.g. 2026-06.
## `customerTypes` (type: `array`):
Only these kinds of buyers, e.g. K-12 School, State Agency, Local Government, Higher Education. Leave empty for all.
## `customerNameContains` (type: `string`):
Only buyers whose name contains this text (e.g. Houston, Frisco Independent School District). Not case-sensitive.
## `vendorNameContains` (type: `string`):
Only purchases where the contract vendor or the reseller name contains this text (e.g. Dell, SHI).
## `brandNameContains` (type: `string`):
Order of results.
## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many purchase lines. You are only charged for results you receive.
## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):
Remembers every purchase line this Actor already gave you (stored privately in your own Apify account) and skips them next time, so a monthly run only returns and charges for new purchases.
## `trackerName` (type: `string`):
Use a different name to keep separate memories, e.g. one per sales territory. Default: default.
## `appToken` (type: `string`):
Optional free token from data.texas.gov that avoids rate limits on very large runs. Most users can leave this empty.
