## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LEI Lookup: GLEIF Legal Entity Identifier Search

Look up **companies and legal entities** in the official **GLEIF Global LEI Index**. Pass LEI codes or company names and get legal name, status, jurisdiction, legal and headquarters address, business-registry ID, previous names, and LEI registration and renewal dates. Export JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Use cases

- **KYC and compliance:** verify a counterparty's LEI, legal name and status.
- **Finance and data teams:** enrich company lists with a standard identifier and jurisdiction.
- **Due diligence:** check previous names, registry numbers and renewal status.
- **AI agents:** structured company-identity lookups via API or MCP.

### How it works

1. LEI codes are fetched directly; names use GLEIF full-text search.
2. The official GLEIF API v1 is queried; nothing is scraped.
3. One flat record per LEI is written, with up to `maxPerQuery` matches per name.
4. Each record returned is one billed event.

### Input

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "HWUPKR0MPOU8FGXBT394",
    "Apple Inc"
  ],
  "maxPerQuery": 3,
  "activeOnly": false
}
```

Empty input `{}` runs a small demo. Other options: `maxPerQuery`, `activeOnly`, `maxResults`, `concurrency`.

### Output (one item per result)

```json
{
  "lei": "549300G81RQKP7XW2N18",
  "legalName": "APPLE OPERATIONS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED",
  "status": "ACTIVE",
  "jurisdiction": "IE",
  "category": "GENERAL",
  "registeredAs": "76941",
  "legalCity": "CORK",
  "legalCountry": "IE",
  "registrationStatus": "ISSUED",
  "nextRenewalDate": "2027-03-08T17:27:20Z",
  "error": null
}
```

### Example output

Real output from a default run (some fields omitted for width):

| lei | legalName | status | jurisdiction | legalCity | nextRenewalDate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 549300G81RQKP7XW2N18 | APPLE OPERATIONS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED | ACTIVE | IE | CORK | 2027-03-08 |

Every run also produces a ready-made table view in the Output tab, and you can export to JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0008 per lei record** ($0.80 per 1,000). Duplicates, failed lookups and empty results are not charged.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** Yes. GLEIF publishes the LEI data as open data under the CC0 1.0 public domain dedication, free to use for any purpose, via a free public API. This Actor is not affiliated with GLEIF.

**Does it cover every company?** Only entities that have obtained an LEI (mostly financial-market participants and larger companies).

**Are failures charged?** No. Errors and queries with no match are not charged.

### Limitations

Only LEI-registered entities are included. Full-text name search can return loosely related names; use a LEI for exact matches. Relationship (parent/child) data is not included.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One per line: a 20-character LEI code or a company name (full-text search).

## `maxPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Cap on matches returned per company-name query (each record is billed).

## `activeOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Restrict name searches to entities with ACTIVE status.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Cap on inputs processed (duplicates are skipped and never charged).

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

Parallel requests.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "HWUPKR0MPOU8FGXBT394",
    "Apple Inc"
  ],
  "maxPerQuery": 3,
  "activeOnly": false,
  "maxResults": 1000,
  "concurrency": 3
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All result items from the run's default dataset.
