## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Ashby Jobs API — 50K+ Startup Jobs, Half with Salaries

Search **50,000+ open jobs** from **2,700+ startups** hiring on Ashby — AI labs, fintech, devtools and Y Combinator companies — and **25,000+ of them publish a salary range**.

No URLs, no company lists, no waiting for a scraper to crawl: the index is pre-built and refreshed
daily, so a search returns in seconds.

### What you get per job

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `title`, `company_name`, `department` | Senior Data Engineer · Acme · Data Platform |
| `country_code`, `city`, `region`, `location_raw` | US · Austin · TX |
| `workplace_type` | remote / hybrid / onsite |
| `salary_min`, `salary_max`, `salary_currency`, `salary_period` | 150000 · 190000 · USD · year |
| `posted_at`, `url`, `ats` | 2026-10-09 · original posting link · ashby |
| `description_text` | Full plain-text description (contact details removed) |

### Why this instead of a per-site scraper

- **3,500 Ashby boards already discovered** — no company slugs needed.
- **Salary ranges on 48% of jobs**, normalized to min/max/currency/period.
- **Y Combinator tag** (`yc_batch`) for filtering startups by batch.
- **16K remote jobs** labelled via `workplace_type`.
- **Source = the employer's own careers page**, not a reposting aggregator — fewer duplicates and stale ads.
- **97% of jobs have an ISO country code**, even when the posting only says "Austin, TX".

### Example inputs

AI/ML jobs with salary at startups:

```json
{"titleKeywords": ["machine learning", "ai engineer", "research engineer"], "salaryOnly": true}
```

Remote product jobs in Europe:

```json
{"titleKeywords": ["product manager", "product designer"], "countries": ["GB", "DE", "FR", "NL", "ES"], "workplaceType": "remote"}
```

Startups hiring from the latest YC batches:

```json
{"ycBatches": ["W26", "X26", "S26"], "includeDescription": false, "maxResults": 2000}
```

### Pricing

**$1.50 per 1,000 jobs** returned (+ a tiny per-run start fee). Set `maxResults` and your run's spending
limit to control cost. Turn off `includeDescription` for lighter, faster results.

### Need other ATSs?

The same index also covers Oracle Recruiting, iCIMS, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Paylocity, UKG, BambooHR,
Breezy, Rippling, Personio, Recruitee, Teamtailor and Pinpoint — 1.9M+ jobs in total. Search all of them
with [Job Postings API — 1.9M+ Jobs from Company Career Sites](https://apify.com/wleeaf/career-site-jobs-index).

### Freshness

Each record has `scraped_at` and `index_snapshot_date`. The index is rebuilt every day.

### Data use

Postings are public job ads published by employers on their Ashby career sites. This is an independent
dataset, not affiliated with or endorsed by Ashby. Use the data for analysis, research, lead generation
and job discovery; link to `url` when displaying postings publicly.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Only jobs from companies whose name (or hiring legal entity) contains any of these strings.

## `ycOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only jobs at Y Combinator-backed companies (6,000+ YC companies matched by name/domain).

## `ycBatches` (type: `array`):

Only these YC batches, e.g. W26, S25, X26 (spring), F25 (fall). Implies YC only.

## `workplaceType` (type: `string`):

Remote, hybrid or onsite. 'any' keeps all jobs, including those where the employer did not specify.
