## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## European Company Registers: Ireland, France, Norway, Finland

Look up any company by **name or registration number** across four official government registers in a single run, and get back one clean, consistent record per company.

Built for **KYB and onboarding checks, supplier verification, CRM enrichment and AI agents** that need to confirm a company exists, is active, and where it is registered.

### Why use it

- **Four registers, one format.** Every country comes back with the same fields: number, name, status, legal form, incorporation date, address, industry code, website and a link to the official register page.
- **Official sources only.** Data comes straight from each government register's public API or open data file, not from scraped third-party sites.
- **Open-licensed and safe to reuse.** Every source publishes its data for commercial reuse. The licence and attribution travel with every record.
- **No personal data.** Directors, officers, owners and sole traders are left out on purpose, so the output is company-level facts only.
- **Agent-ready.** Simple input, predictable JSON output, works through the Apify API and Apify MCP server.

### Registers covered

| Country | Register | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Ireland | Companies Registration Office (CRO), daily file | CC BY 4.0 |
| France | INSEE Sirene / RNE (recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr) | Licence Ouverte 2.0 |
| Norway | Brønnøysund Register Centre (Enhetsregisteret) | NLOD 2.0 |
| Finland | Finnish Patent and Registration Office (YTJ) | CC BY 4.0 |

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `queries` | Company names or registration numbers, one per line. |
| `countries` | Which registers to search (`IE`, `FR`, `NO`, `FI`). Default: all four. |
| `maxResultsPerQuery` | Max matches per query in each register (1–50, default 5). |
| `includeInactive` | Include dissolved or inactive companies (default off). |

Registration numbers are recognised automatically: Irish CRO numbers, French SIREN or SIRET, Norwegian organisation numbers and Finnish business IDs (e.g. `0112038-9`). A number is only looked up in the registers whose format it fits.

```json
{
  "queries": ["Ryanair Holdings", "552032534", "0112038-9"],
  "countries": ["IE", "FR", "FI"],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 3
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "query": "Ryanair Holdings",
  "country": "IE",
  "registry": "Companies Registration Office (CRO)",
  "companyNumber": "249885",
  "name": "RYANAIR HOLDINGS PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY",
  "status": "active",
  "statusDetail": "Normal",
  "legalForm": "PLC - Public Limited Company",
  "incorporationDate": "1996-06-05",
  "dissolutionDate": null,
  "address": "RYANAIR DUBLIN OFFICE, AIRSIDE BUSINESS PARK, SWORDS CO. DUBLIN, SWORDS,DUBLIN",
  "postalCode": null,
  "city": "SWORDS CO. DUBLIN",
  "industryCode": "74.84",
  "industryDescription": null,
  "employees": null,
  "website": null,
  "commercialProspectingOptOut": null,
  "sourceUrl": "https://opendata.cro.ie/dataset/companies",
  "licence": "Source: Companies Registration Office Ireland open data, CC BY 4.0.",
  "retrievedAt": "2026-11-03T18:30:00Z"
}
```

`status` is always `active` or `inactive`; `statusDetail` keeps each register's own wording. `employees` is a headcount in Norway and an INSEE size band code in France. `commercialProspectingOptOut` is `true` for French companies that have objected to their data being used for direct marketing: respect it.

### Pricing

Pay per result: you are charged a small fee per run start and per company record returned. No subscription. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops when it reaches it.

### Good to know

- Ireland is searched from the CRO's daily open data file, so results reflect the register as of that morning.
- The French search covers companies and associations; individual entrepreneurs are excluded.
- Data is provided as published by each register. Registers can contain errors and delays; check the official register page linked in `sourceUrl` before relying on a record for a legal decision.
- Each register's licence requires attribution. Keep the `licence` field (or an equivalent credit) when you republish the data.

### Use with AI agents

Add this Actor to your agent through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com) and ask things like *"Is Danone Oy an active company in Finland, and when was it registered?"*. The agent gets structured records back with the official source link.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One company per line. Use a name (e.g. 'Ryanair Holdings') or a registration number (Irish CRO number, French SIREN or SIRET, Norwegian organisasjonsnummer, Finnish Y-tunnus like 0112038-9).

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Which countries to search. Leave empty for all four.

## `maxResultsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

How many matches to return for each query in each register. You pay per record returned.

## `includeInactive` (type: `boolean`):

Off by default: only active companies are returned.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "Ryanair",
    "Danone",
    "Equinor"
  ],
  "countries": [
    "IE",
    "FR",
    "NO",
    "FI"
  ],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 5,
  "includeInactive": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All company records returned by the run, with licence and source URL on each.
