## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper — iOS Ratings by Country

Download **Apple App Store reviews** for any iOS app in any country: stars, title, full text, author, date, edit flag and the **developer's reply**, plus app details.

### Who this is for

- Product teams tracking App Store feedback
- ASO and competitor review analysis
- Support / CX monitoring 1★ and 2★ reviews
- Datasets for NLP on mobile reviews

### What you get

`appId, country, reviewId, rating, title, text, userName, date, isEdited, developerResponse, developerResponseDate, appName, developer, bundleId, appRating, appRatingCount, appVersion, appGenre, appPrice, appUrl`

### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.spotify.client", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo/id570060128"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "ae"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "maxReviewsPerCountry": 200,
  "ratings": ["1", "2"],
  "sortBy": "mostrecent"
}
```

Accepts App Store URLs, numeric IDs, bundle IDs or app names. Sort options: `mostrecent`, `mosthelpful`, `mostcritical`, `mostfavorable`.

### October 2026 update: more reviews per country

Apple's old public review feed stopped returning reviews in October 2026. The scraper now reads reviews from the same source the apps.apple.com website uses, so:

- **No 500-review cap per country.** In our tests it returned every written review Apple shows: 1,969 of 1,969 for a mid-size app, and more than 19,000 for Facebook (US) before we stopped the test.
- **Developer replies** and an **edited** flag are now included.
- **Two new sort orders**: most critical and most favorable.
- **New optional `maxReviewsPerCountry`** splits your limit evenly across countries.
- If Apple's review data is temporarily unavailable for an app/country, you still get the ~10 reviews shown on the App Store page instead of nothing.

**Fields Apple no longer provides:** `appVersionReviewed`, `helpfulVotes`, `totalVotes` and `userUrl` are still in every row for compatibility, but they are always `null` now. `date` is in UTC (e.g. `2026-10-16T05:21:54Z`).

### Limits and speed (measured October 2026)

- **Per country:** whatever Apple shows. Small and mid-size apps return all of their written reviews, and very large apps return tens of thousands.
- **Speed:** about 500 reviews per app per country in ~20 seconds, and about 1,000–1,500 reviews per minute on long runs. If Apple throttles requests, the scraper slows down and retries by itself.
- `maxReviewsPerApp` counts across all countries, filled in the order you list them. Set `maxReviewsPerCountry` to make sure each country gets its share.
- Star-only ratings carry no text and are not returned.

### Pricing

**$0.00008 per review** ($0.08 / 1,000). No start fee. You pay only for reviews delivered, and the run stops automatically when it reaches your maximum charge limit.

### FAQ

**How many reviews?** There is no fixed cap any more. See Limits above. Add countries to get reviews from other storefronts.
**Mac / iPad?** Yes, same App Store reviews.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store URLs (apps.apple.com/.../id284882215), numeric IDs, bundle IDs (com.burbn.instagram) or app names.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

App Store country codes. Each country has its own reviews. There is no fixed cap per country any more: large apps return thousands of reviews per country.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Across all countries. Countries are filled in order unless 'Max reviews per country' is set.

## `maxReviewsPerCountry` (type: `integer`):

Optional cap for each country, so every country gets its share (still limited by 'Max reviews per app' overall). Leave empty for the old behaviour.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Review order.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

e.g. 1 and 2 to get only negative reviews. Empty = all.

## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):

App name, developer, average rating, rating count, version, genre, price on each row.
