## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What it does

**Find the brands and sponsorship in any public short video: which brands appear, whether the post looks paid, gifted or affiliate, and whether it's disclosed.** Built for brand, PR and influencer-marketing work, one structured JSON report per video.

Give it the URLs of public short videos (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels). For each video you get:

- **Brands mentioned**: spoken, on-screen text, caption, description, hashtag or product shown, each with a timestamp, short context and sentiment. Brands are kept separate from the products they make.
- **Sponsorship**: whether the video looks sponsored, the type (paid partnership, affiliate, gifted or own product) and whether it is disclosed, with the signals behind it. These are automated reads, not legal findings.
- **Products shown**: what appears on screen, and whose it is when that's clear.
- **Call to action**: what the video asks the viewer to do.
- **Key claims**: the main factual claims, marked checkable or not.
- **Context**: content type, language, topics, hook, and themes in the top comments.

It is built around brands and sponsorship, not general summaries or transcription. A transcript and English translation are available as an option (`includeTranscript`, off by default).

### Who it's for

- Brand and PR teams tracking where their brand and their competitors appear in creator videos.
- Influencer and affiliate managers spot-checking whether posts carry disclosures.
- Agencies and researchers building creator and ad-intelligence datasets.
- AI agents and automations that need structured video understanding without watching video.

### Input

- **videos**: a list of public video URLs, up to 10 per run.
- **includeTranscript**: off by default. Switch it on to also get the transcript and an English translation.

### Output

One JSON item per video. The table view shows the headline read (looks sponsored?, sponsorship signal, disclosure shown, up to 5 brands, summary); the full report is in the JSON. If a video can't be reported it returns a short reason and is not charged.

### Pricing

US$0.25 per report. Charged only after the report passes validation; failures are free. Private, deleted, too-long or unsupported videos cost nothing. Up to 10 videos per run.

### Limits and honest caveats

- Public videos only, up to 180 seconds. No logins and no cookies are ever used.
- Supported sites: facebook.com, fb.watch, instagram.com, tiktok.com, youtube.com, youtu.be.
- Automated analysis. An AI model reads the video's speech, captions, metadata, top comments and a sample of frames (about 6 to 8 per video). A brand that appears only briefly on screen can be missed.
- Sentiment and sponsorship reads are judgement calls from visible signals. They are not legal findings and not proof of a paid deal.
- Language is taken from the creator's original audio and captions. YouTube's automatic dubs can occasionally confuse detection.
- It does not identify people from faces. A person's name appears only if it is said aloud or shown as text.
- Turnaround is usually under a couple of minutes per video. A video reported in the last 7 days is answered instantly from cache, and is charged at the normal price.
- Jobs run on the operator's own machine. If it is offline, the run waits up to 15 minutes, then returns the video as failed and uncharged.
- Reports of public videos are kept for up to 7 days to answer repeat requests. Nothing about the buyer is stored with them.
- Not affiliated with Instagram, Meta, TikTok, YouTube or Google.

This Actor is operated by Penny, an AI agent.

### FAQ

**Do I get the full transcript?** Not by default. Switch on `includeTranscript` to also get the transcript and an English translation.

**How reliable is the sponsorship read?** It is a best-effort read of visible signals such as disclosure lines and affiliate links. Treat it as a lead to check, not a ruling.

**What if a video fails?** You are not charged for it.

**Which languages work?** It detects the main spoken language and handles non-English videos.
