## Pricing

from $2.20 / 1,000 keyword with ai search volumes

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## AI Search Volume Checker: how often are topics searched in ChatGPT and Google's AI?

**AI Search Volume Checker** returns an estimated **monthly AI search volume** for every keyword you give it, with a **12-month history** and a **rising / falling / steady** flag, for thousands of keywords per run in about 90 countries. Use it to decide which topics to write for AI answers, which products and brands people ask AI tools about, and where AI demand is growing before your competitors notice.

- 🤖 **Demand numbers for the AI era.** Classic search volume tells you what people type into Google. AI search volume estimates how often the same topics come up in AI tools.
- 📈 **Trend built in.** Every row has the last 12 months plus a `trend` (rising, falling, steady) and `trend_3m_pct` so you can sort by momentum, not just size.
- 🌍 **About 90 countries and their main languages.** Country by name, 2-letter code or location code.
- 💸 **$3 per 1,000 keywords** plus $0.03 per request of up to 1,000 keywords. Keywords with no measurable volume are free.
- 🆓 **Free Apify plan:** up to 10 keywords per run and 30 per day. Any paid Apify plan removes the limit and adds volume discounts.
- 🔌 **API and MCP ready.** Typed input and output, works from REST, Python, JavaScript, n8n, Make, Zapier and MCP clients.

### What exactly is "AI search volume"?

It is a **modeled estimate, not a log of ChatGPT prompts.** No AI company publishes how often a topic is asked about. The data provider describes the values as estimated usage in AI tools, calculated from statistical data on the questions people ask around a topic (Google's "People Also Ask" results). Treat it as a **relative demand signal**: compare keywords with each other and watch the direction over time, rather than quoting a single number as exact prompt counts. For a direct look at what AI engines answer for your prompts, pair it with the [AI Search Visibility Tracker](https://apify.com/wrenfield-data/ai-search-visibility-tracker).

### What do you get per keyword?

- `ai_search_volume`: estimated monthly AI searches for the latest month
- `trend` and `trend_3m_pct`: latest month versus the average of the 3 months before it (10% or more counts as rising or falling)
- `ai_monthly_searches`: the last 12 months, month by month (switch off to get smaller rows)
- `location`, `language`, `found`, `scraped_at`, and a `note` when a keyword has no measurable volume

### How to use it

1. Paste your keywords, one per line (the prefilled example has 5).
2. Pick a country and language.
3. Click **Start**. A few keywords finish in about 15 seconds; thousands in a few minutes.
4. Sort the table by `ai_search_volume` or `trend_3m_pct`, or export CSV, Excel or JSON.

### Input example

```json
{
  "keywords": ["ai seo", "best crm software", "running shoes"],
  "location": "United States",
  "language": "English",
  "includeMonthlyHistory": true
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "keyword": "ai seo",
  "ai_search_volume": 5679,
  "trend": "rising",
  "trend_3m_pct": 292.3,
  "ai_monthly_searches": [
    {"year": 2026, "month": 9, "ai_search_volume": 5679}
  ],
  "location": "United States",
  "language": "English",
  "found": true,
  "scraped_at": "2026-10-28T04:38:36Z"
}
```

History shortened to one month for this example.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription. Two events: **$0.03 per request** (one request holds up to 1,000 keywords) and **$0.003 per keyword returned with a volume** on the free Apify plan, lower on paid plans:

| Apify plan | Per keyword | 1,000 keywords (one request) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0.003 | $3.03 |
| Starter | $0.0027 | $2.73 |
| Scale | $0.0025 | $2.53 |
| Business | $0.0022 | $2.23 |

Example: the 5 prefilled keywords cost about $0.045. Keywords with no measurable AI search volume are never charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops at that limit.

### AI search volume API: REST, Python, JavaScript, n8n and MCP

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/wrenfield-data~ai-search-volume-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"keywords": ["ai seo", "running shoes"], "location": "US"}'
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("wrenfield-data/ai-search-volume-checker").call(run_input={"keywords": ["ai seo", "running shoes"]})
for row in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(row["keyword"], row["ai_search_volume"], row["trend"])
```

It also works in n8n, Make and Zapier through the Apify integrations, and in any MCP client through Apify's hosted MCP server.

### FAQ

**Is this the number of prompts people send to ChatGPT?**
No. See "What exactly is AI search volume?" above. It is a modeled estimate of demand, best used to compare topics and track direction.

**Why do many keywords show as rising?**
AI tool usage has grown quickly, so many topics trend up. Compare `trend_3m_pct` across your keywords rather than reading one value in isolation.

**How is this different from Keyword Search Volume?**
[Keyword Search Volume](https://apify.com/wrenfield-data/keyword-search-volume) returns Google Keyword Planner volume (what people search on Google). This Actor estimates how often topics are searched in AI tools. Many teams look at both.

**Why is my keyword missing a volume?**
Rare or very new topics have no measurable AI search volume yet. Those rows are returned with `found: false` and are not charged.

**Which countries are covered?**
About 90. If a country is not covered the run stops with a message listing close matches. Nothing is charged.

**Is this affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Google or Microsoft?**
No. All product names are trademarks of their owners.
