## Pricing

from $5.20 / 1,000 keyword searches

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## People Also Ask Scraper: Google PAA questions, related searches and AI Overviews

**People Also Ask Scraper** collects the **People Also Ask (PAA)** questions Google shows for any keyword, including the **follow-up questions** that appear when a question is opened (up to 4 levels deep). It also saves the **related searches** and, optionally, Google's **AI Overview** text with its cited sources. Any country, city, language and device, in bulk, with no proxies or browser.

- ❓ **4-20 real questions per keyword** with the question tree (`level`, `parent_question`).
- 🔎 **Related searches** for free in the same run.
- 🤖 **AI Overview add-on**: the answer Google's AI gives and which sites it cites, for AEO/GEO research.
- 🌍 **Countries, cities and languages**, desktop or mobile.
- 💸 **$0.0055 per keyword + $0.0006 per question**, no start fee.

### What data do you get?

Each row has a `type`:

| `type` | `text` holds | Extra fields |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `question` | A People Also Ask question | `level` (1 = on the page, 2+ = revealed by opening a question), `parent_question`, `position`, and `answer`, `answer_url`, `answer_domain` when Google shows a classic snippet answer |
| `related_search` | A related search from the bottom of the page | `position` |
| `ai_overview` | Google's AI Overview text (Markdown) | `ai_overview_references` with title, URL and domain of each cited source |

### How to scrape People Also Ask

1. Enter your **Keywords**, one per line.
2. Pick the **Location** (country, or a city like `London,England,United Kingdom`) and **Language**.
3. Set **Question depth** (2 is a good default) and optionally turn on **Include AI Overview**.
4. Click **Start** and export the questions to Excel, CSV or JSON.

### Use cases

- **Content and FAQ ideas**: answer the exact questions searchers ask, and add FAQ schema.
- **AEO / GEO research**: see what Google's AI Overview says about your topic and which sites it cites.
- **Topic clusters**: turn the question tree into H2s and supporting articles.
- **Keyword research**: feed the questions into [Keyword Search Volume](https://apify.com/wrenfield-data/keyword-search-volume) to size them.

### Input example

```json
{
    "keywords": ["how to start a blog"],
    "location": "United States",
    "language": "English",
    "clickDepth": 2,
    "includeRelatedSearches": true,
    "includeAiOverview": false
}
```

### Output example

```json
[
    {
        "keyword": "how to start a blog",
        "type": "question",
        "text": "How much money to start a blog?",
        "position": 4,
        "level": 1,
        "parent_question": null,
        "answer": null,
        "answer_url": null,
        "location": "United States",
        "language": "English",
        "device": "desktop"
    },
    {
        "type": "question",
        "text": "Do bloggers make any money?",
        "position": 5,
        "level": 2,
        "parent_question": "How much money to start a blog?",
    },
    {
        "keyword": "keyword research",
        "type": "related_search",
        "text": "Free keyword research tool",
        "position": 2
    }
]
```

### Pricing

This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing. Paid Apify plans get automatic volume discounts.

| Event | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Keyword search (`keyword-search`) | **$0.0055** per keyword searched on Google |
| People Also Ask question (`paa-question`) | **$0.0006** per question returned |
| AI Overview check (`ai-overview-check`) | **$0.005** per keyword (only with *Include AI Overview*) |

Related searches are free. A typical keyword at depth 2 returns about 9 questions, so it costs about **$0.011**. 100 keywords cost about **$1.09**, or about **$1.59** with AI Overviews.

Set **Maximum cost per run** in the run options to cap your spend. **Free Apify plan:** 3 keywords per run, without AI Overviews.

### Use it through the API, on a schedule or with AI agents

**One-link MCP setup:** `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=wrenfield-data/people-also-ask-scraper` (Claude, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client). Set `maxTotalChargeUsd` on the run to cap what it can charge.

Run it from Python, JavaScript or any HTTP client with the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2), schedule it to track changes every week or month, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets and other integrations. AI agents can call it through the Apify MCP server.

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/wrenfield-data~people-also-ask-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"keywords": ["how to start a blog"], "clickDepth": 2}'
```

### FAQ

**Why are many `answer` fields empty?**
Google now answers most People Also Ask questions with AI-generated text that loads separately, so there's often no classic snippet to save. Turn on **Include AI Overview** to capture Google's AI answer for the keyword itself.

**Why do some keywords have no questions?**
Google doesn't show People Also Ask for every search. Those keywords are listed in the run `SUMMARY`, and you only pay the keyword-search fee for them.

**Can I target a city?**
Yes. Use the full Google location name, e.g. `New York,New York,United States`.
