## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Sanctions Screening – OFAC, EU, UN & UK Sanctions List Check

**Sanctions screening / sanctions list check** for KYC, KYB and AML. **Screen people, companies and vessels against the four major official sanctions lists** in one call – the **EU Consolidated Financial Sanctions List**, the **UN Security Council Consolidated List**, the **US OFAC SDN List** (with aliases) and the **UK Sanctions List (FCDO)** – with **fuzzy name matching, transliteration and 0–100 match scores**.

Lists are downloaded directly from the official government sources and **refreshed daily** (~33,000 designated parties, ~95,000 names and aliases). No third-party aggregator, no API key, no subscription.

Ideal for **KYC / KYB onboarding, AML compliance checks, supplier and customer due diligence, payment screening, export control, marketplaces, fintechs and AI agents** that need a quick "is this name sanctioned?" answer.

### Features

- ✅ **EU + UN + OFAC + UK** in one request, every result tagged with its list, list ID, programme/regime, DOB, nationality and listing date.
- ✅ **Fuzzy matching** – catches spelling variants, word order ("Putin Vladimir"), missing middle names, transliterations (Cyrillic "Сбербанк" → Sberbank), legal-form noise (LLC, OOO, GmbH, PJSC…).
- ✅ **Match scores** with explanations; tune the threshold (90+ strict, 85 balanced, 75 broad).
- ✅ **False-positive reduction** – optional birth year and nationality to rank the right person first.
- ✅ **Batch** up to 5,000 names per run; ~0.2 s per name.
- ✅ **Auditable** – each result records the list version date (`lists_date`).
- ✅ **MCP / AI-agent ready** via the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`).

### Input example

```json
{ "names": ["Vladimir Putin", "Sberbank", "Example Trading Ltd"], "threshold": 85, "birthYear": 1952 }
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "query": "Vladimir Putin", "status": "potential_match", "top_score": 100,
  "top_match_name": "PUTIN, Vladimir Vladimirovich", "top_match_list": "OFAC", "match_count": 3,
  "matches": [{
    "score": 100, "list": "OFAC", "list_name": "OFAC SDN List (US Treasury)", "list_id": "35096",
    "sanctioned_name": "PUTIN, Vladimir Vladimirovich", "type": "person",
    "programs": ["RUSSIA-EO14024"], "dob": ["07 Oct 1952"], "nationality": ["Russia"],
    "score_notes": ["birth year matches"]
  }],
  "lists_date": "2026-10-15T13:29:02Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.005 per name screened** + $0.005 per run start. 1,000 names ≈ $5. Compare with $0.10–$1 per check at commercial screening vendors.

### Important

This Actor is a screening **aid**: a `potential_match` is a candidate requiring human review, and a `no_match` is not legal advice or a guarantee. It covers the four listed sanctions regimes only – not PEPs or adverse media. You remain responsible for your compliance programme.

- UN: scsanctions.un.org consolidated list – public.

# Actor input Schema

## `names` (type: `array`):

People, companies, vessels. Any script – Cyrillic/Arabic/accents are transliterated.

## `threshold` (type: `integer`):

Minimum match score to report. 85 = balanced, 90+ = strict, 75 = broad (more false positives).

## `entityTypes` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all types.

## `lists` (type: `array`):

Leave empty to screen against all four lists.

## `birthYear` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Boosts matching birth years and down-scores mismatches to cut false positives.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Optional, e.g. 'Russia'. Small boost when it matches the listed nationality.

## `maxMatchesPerName` (type: `integer`):

Maximum candidate matches returned per name.
