## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Scraper

Everything public on the Google Play Store, in one Actor:

- **Reviews**: every review of any app, **with no 150/1,000 cap**. Newest first or most relevant, **filter by star rating**, stop at a date (only reviews since 2026-09-01, or the last 30 days). You get the stars, text, date, helpful votes, **the app version the reviewer used**, and **the developer's reply**.
- **App details**: rating and **1-5 star histogram**, exact install count, price, in-app purchase range, ads, version, Android and SDK requirements, release and update dates, **developer email, website, address and phone**, permissions, and the full **data safety** section (what data is collected or shared, and why).
- **Search**: the apps Google Play lists for any search term.
- **Top charts**: top free, top paid and top grossing, overall or for any of 50+ categories, up to 200 apps each.
- **Developer apps**: every app from a developer, by name, numeric ID or URL. Large developers are paged in full (Google LLC: 95 apps).
- **Similar apps**: Play's "Similar apps" list, paged beyond the first 50.

Any **country** (prices, availability and charts follow it) and any **language**. A missing app, a typo or a region-locked app **never crashes the run**. You get a free row that says what went wrong, and the other apps carry on.

### What people use it for

- **App review monitoring**: run it daily with *Only reviews since: 1 day* and send the new 1-2 star reviews to Slack or a spreadsheet
- **Sentiment and feature research**: pull thousands of reviews of your app and your competitors' apps into an LLM or BI tool; the app version on each review shows which release caused a spike
- **Competitor tracking**: ratings, installs, updates and prices of a list of apps over time
- **Market research and ASO**: what ranks for a keyword, what tops a category chart, what Play puts next to your app
- **Lead generation**: developer contact emails and websites for every app in a chart or category
- **Privacy and compliance research**: data safety declarations and permissions across many apps

### How to use it

1. Pick **What to scrape**.
2. Add apps (package names like `com.spotify.music`, or Play URLs), search terms, charts or developers.
3. Set the **country** and **language** if you need something other than US English.
4. Run it, then download JSON, CSV or Excel, or call the API.

Every run returns **one kind of row**, so the dataset always has the same columns. Every column is present on every row (`null` when Play has no value), and the columns don't change between runs.

### What you get

#### Reviews: one row per review

```json
{
```

Games also get their Play tags in `categories` (for example *Strategy, Build & battle, Multiplayer, Medieval fantasy*). Paid apps have `free: false`, `price: 6.99` and `priceText: "$6.99"`. The price and currency follow the country you pick.

#### Search, charts, developer and similar apps: one row per app

`input` (the search term, chart or developer), `rank`, `appId`, `url`, `title`, `developer`, `score`, `genre`, `installs`, `free`, `price`, `currency`, `priceText`, `inAppPurchasesRange`, `contentRating`, `summary` or `description`, `icon`, `screenshots`.

Turn on **Full details for every listed app** to get the complete App details row for every app in a search, chart or developer list instead.

### Pricing

Pay per result. There's no start fee and no monthly rental, and **you're never charged for errors**: not-found apps, invalid inputs, empty searches and failed requests are free rows.

| Result | Price |
|---|---|
| Review | $0.10 per 1,000 |
| App details | $0.50 per 1,000 |
| App in a search, chart, developer or similar list | $0.20 per 1,000 |

Set **Max cost per run** in the run options to cap your spend. The run stops cleanly when it gets there, and you keep everything scraped so far.

### Examples

**Every 1- and 2-star review from the last 30 days**

```json
{ "mode": "reviews", "appIds": ["com.yourcompany.app"], "maxReviewsPerApp": 0, "reviewStars": ["1", "2"], "reviewsSince": "30 days" }
```

**German reviews from Germany**

```json
{ "mode": "reviews", "appIds": ["com.spotify.music"], "country": "de", "language": "de", "maxReviewsPerApp": 1000 }
```

**Top 200 grossing games in Japan, with full details**

```json
{ "mode": "charts", "chartCollections": ["topgrossing"], "chartCategories": ["GAME"], "country": "jp", "includeFullDetails": true }
```

**Every app from a developer**

```json
{ "mode": "developer", "developers": ["https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=5700313618786177705"] }
```

### Good to know

- **Search returns about 30 apps per term.** That's all Google Play's website shows for a search. To go wider, use several related terms (duplicates are easy to drop by `appId`), or use top charts for a category.
- **Charts go to 200**, which is Play's own limit.
- **Reviews follow the language you pick.** Google Play serves reviews written in that language (English by default). For German reviews, set `language: de`.
- **Newest-first reviews can lag by about a day.** Google Play takes time to publish reviews, so the newest one can be a few hours to a day old.
- **Region-locked apps** show up as "App not found in country XX". Run again with the country where the app is sold.
- **Everything comes from the public Play Store website**, as a logged-out visitor sees it. No Google account is used.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Each run returns one kind of row, so your dataset always has the same columns. Reviews and App details use the app list below; the other modes use their own section.

## `appIds` (type: `array`):

Package names (com.spotify.music) or Google Play URLs (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spotify.music). Used by Reviews, App details and Similar apps.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code (us, gb, de, in, ng, br, ...). Prices, availability, charts and search results follow this country.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language code (en, de, es, pt-BR, ...). Google Play returns reviews written in this language, and app texts in it when the developer provides a translation.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

0 = every review Google Play has (it pages through them all). With a star filter the limit applies to each star rating separately.

## `reviewsSort` (type: `string`):

Newest first is best for monitoring and date cutoffs.

## `reviewStars` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all ratings. Filtering happens on Google Play's side, so asking for 1-star reviews doesn't cost you the others.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

Stop at reviews older than this date, e.g. 2026-09-01 or "30 days". Fastest with "Newest first".

## `includeReviewerNames` (type: `boolean`):

Off by default. Reviewer ids and profile pictures are never collected.

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

One search per line, e.g. "budget tracker". Google Play's website shows up to about 30 apps per search.

## `chartCollections` (type: `array`):

Which top charts to fetch (up to 200 apps each).

## `chartCategories` (type: `array`):

Every chart is fetched for every category picked here.

## `developers` (type: `array`):

Developer names exactly as on Google Play ("Spotify AB"), numeric developer ids, or developer page URLs.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

0 = everything Google Play shows (search ~30, charts 200, similar ~50).

## `includeFullDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Search, charts, developer and similar modes return a compact card by default. Turn this on to get the full App details row (ratings histogram, developer contact, data safety, ...) for each app, charged as an app detail.

## `includeDataSafety` (type: `boolean`):

What data the app collects and shares, for what purpose, and its security practices. Free, it comes with the same request.

## `includeDescriptionHtml` (type: `boolean`):

The plain-text description is always included. Turn on to also get the original HTML.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify datacenter proxy works well for Google Play. A failed request is retried on a new IP.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many apps or searches are fetched at the same time.
