## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## NWS Forecast Highs at Kalshi Weather-Market Locations

This Actor returns the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) daytime forecast high for each location named in Kalshi's daily-high temperature
market rules, with the time NWS issued the forecast.

### What each row is

- **The NWS gridpoint forecast** for the 12-hour daytime period (6 am to 6 pm local time) on the target date. It covers the 2.5 km forecast
  grid cell that contains the NWS station at that location. The value is a whole degree Fahrenheit, exactly as NWS issued it.
- **It is not** a station observation, a station-specific prediction, or a settlement value. The markets settle on **The Weather Company's**
  reported maximum temperature, as their rules state. That value can differ from any NWS forecast by several degrees, and the market
  "day" and the forecast period are not the same time window.
- **How each location is identified:** the market rules name a location code, for example "New York City (CLINYC)". The NWS climate report
  for that code names the site, for example Central Park. The NWS station record for that site gives the coordinates the forecast uses.

| Series | Rules code | NWS site | Station |
|---|---|---|---|
| KXHIGHNY | CLINYC | Central Park, NY | KNYC |
| KXHIGHPHIL | CLIPHL | Philadelphia International Airport | KPHL |
| KXHIGHMIA | CLIMIA | Miami International Airport | KMIA |
| KXHIGHCHI | CLIMDW | Chicago Midway Airport | KMDW |
| KXHIGHAUS | CLIAUS | Austin-Bergstrom International Airport | KAUS |
| KXHIGHDEN | CLIDEN | Denver International Airport | KDEN |
| KXHIGHLAX | CLILAX | Los Angeles International Airport | KLAX |

Always check the current market rules: a market can change its location or settlement source.

### Fields

`series`, `market_rules_location_code`, `nws_climate_site`, `nws_station`, `target_date_local`, `forecast_high_f`, `forecast_kind`,
`period_name`, `period_start`, `period_end`, `short_forecast`, `nws_forecast_generated_at` (when NWS generated the forecast),
`nws_grid_updated_at` (when the underlying grid data was last updated), `nws_grid`, `source`, `settlement_note`, `retrieved_at`.

### Input

- `series`: tickers to include. Leave empty for all seven.
- `days`: 1 to 7 days, starting today in each location's local time.

NWS drops the "Today" period late in the local afternoon, so an evening run starts with tomorrow.

### Pricing

**$0.002 per row delivered** (one location, one day). All seven locations for two days is 14 rows, which costs $0.028. Nothing is charged
for a location whose NWS read fails.

```
### Source and limitations
Data comes from the U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov), a U.S. government work in the public domain. Forecasts are passed
through as issued and can be wrong.
This Actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by NWS, NOAA, Kalshi or The Weather Company. It gives no trading advice and makes no
performance claims. Kalshi is named only to identify which locations are covered.
# Actor input Schema
## `series` (type: `array`):
Kalshi daily-high series tickers to include (KXHIGHNY, KXHIGHPHIL, KXHIGHMIA, KXHIGHCHI, KXHIGHAUS, KXHIGHDEN, KXHIGHLAX). Empty means all.
## `days` (type: `integer`):
Forecast days to return, starting today in each location's local time (1-7).
## Actor input object example
```json
{
  "series": [
    "KXHIGHNY",
    "KXHIGHCHI"
  ],
  "days": 2
}
```
