## Pricing

from $1.33 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event and usage. You are charged both the fixed price for specific events and for Apify platform usage.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Houzz Contractor & Home-Pro Leads

Build a contact list of contractors and home professionals from Houzz — business name, phone number, website, full address and map coordinates, one row per business.

### Why use this actor

- **A phone number on essentially every row** — the field that actually makes a lead usable
- **Full postal address plus latitude/longitude**, so rows drop straight into a CRM or a map
- **Any professional category** — general contractors, kitchen and bath remodelers, landscapers, architects
- **City and metro targeting** by pasting a directory address
- Business website and social profiles where the company lists them
- No account and no key required

### How it works

1. You choose one or more Houzz professional categories (or paste directory addresses for a specific city).
2. The actor walks the directory listings, 15 businesses per page, for as many pages as you allow.
3. Each business becomes one row with its contact and location details, de-duplicated across pages.
4. Results stream into your dataset, ready to download as JSON, CSV or Excel.

You don't need to manage scrapers or infrastructure.

### Input

```json
{
  "categories": ["general-contractor"],
  "maxItems": 200,
  "maxPagesPerCategory": 5,
  "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"] }
}
```

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `categories` | array | Category wording from the site address, e.g. `general-contractor`, `landscape-contractors`. |
| `startUrls` | array | Optional. Paste Houzz directory addresses for city- or metro-specific listings. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Maximum businesses collected across the run. Default 200. |
| `maxPagesPerCategory` | integer | Directory pages per category; each page lists 15 businesses. Default 5. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Optional for small runs; recommended for large ones. |

### Output

Real sample from a live run:

```json
{
  "_input": "general-contractor",
  "_source": "S1-directory",
  "_scrapedAt": "2026-08-26T08:41:12Z",
  "recordType": "CONTRACTOR",
  "name": "Full Service USA",
  "phone": "(305) 487-8485",
  "website": "https://fullserviceusa.com",
  "socialProfiles": ["https://www.facebook.com/full.service.usa"],
  "streetAddress": "818 Northeast 8th Street",
  "city": "Hallandale",
  "region": "FL",
  "postalCode": "33009",
  "country": "US",
  "latitude": 25.985,
  "longitude": -80.1407,
  "imageUrl": "https://st.hzcdn.com/simgs/19a3667c04f67a6b_0-7858/_.jpg"
}
```

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `name` | string | Business name. |
| `phone` | string | Business phone number. |
| `website` | string | Company website, when the business lists one. |
| `socialProfiles` | array | Facebook / Instagram / other profiles, when listed. |
| `streetAddress`, `city`, `region`, `postalCode`, `country` | string | Business address. |
| `latitude`, `longitude` | number | Map coordinates. |
| `imageUrl` | string | Profile image. |
| `areaServed` | any | Service area, as the business states it. |

### Notes and limits

- **Field coverage, measured on a live run of 25 businesses:** name 25/25, phone **25/25**, address and coordinates 25/25, website 4/25. Most businesses route enquiries through Houzz rather than publishing a site, so treat `website` as a bonus rather than a guarantee.
- **Star ratings and review counts are not included.** They are not part of the directory listing this actor reads, and inventing them from a different source would make the row less trustworthy, not more.
- Each page lists 15 businesses; raise `maxPagesPerCategory` together with `maxItems` to go deeper.
- A page that returns nothing produces an error row explaining why, so a gap never silently looks like "no contractors".
- This collects **public business-directory information** — company contact details, not personal data.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Houzz professional categories to collect, using the wording from the site address, e.g. "general-contractor", "kitchen-and-bath-remodelers", "landscape-contractors".

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional. Paste Houzz professional directory addresses directly — useful for city- or metro-specific listings that a plain category cannot express.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of businesses to collect across the whole run.

## `maxPagesPerCategory` (type: `integer`):

How many directory pages to walk per category. Each page lists 15 businesses.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Not required for small runs. A residential proxy is recommended when collecting many pages.
