## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Sponsor Register Changes

Dated changes to the UK register of licensed sponsors (Worker and Temporary Worker routes), one row per change.

Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Home Office or UK Visas and Immigration.

A sample row (an invented example, not a real organisation):

| date | changeType | organisation | town | county | route | oldTypeRating | newTypeRating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-01-05 | added | Example Org Ltd | Exampleton | Examplesire | Worker | null | Worker (A rating) |

A default run costs up to $0.015: the Console form starts at 3 rows at $0.005 each, and you can raise `maxItems`.

Run it with the default input.

### What you get

One row per change to the UK register of licensed sponsors (workers and temporary workers): an organisation added, no longer listed, a rating changed, or a route added or removed. Each row has the date, the organisation, town, county, route, the old and new type and rating, where it came from, and its id and sequence.

| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| `eventId` | An id for this change, made from the change type, the organisation, the route and the two register files compared. The same change keeps the same id from run to run. |
| `date` | The date of the register file in which the change was found (YYYY-MM-DD). |
| `changeType` | `added`, `removed` (no longer listed), `ratingChanged`, `routeAdded` or `routeRemoved`. |
| `organisation` | The organisation's name as the register publishes it, made safe for spreadsheets as described below. |
| `town`, `county` | As the register publishes them; can be null. |
| `route` | The sponsor route the change is about; can be null. |
| `oldTypeRating`, `newTypeRating` | The type and rating before and after the change; can be null, for example where there is no before (`added`, `routeAdded`) or no after (`removed`, `routeRemoved`). |
| `sourceDate` | The date of the register file the change was found in (the same day as `date`); can be null. |
| `changedBetween` | The date of the previous register file it was compared with: the change happened between the previous file and this one. Can be null. |
| `sourceFile` | The name of the register file the change was found in; can be null. |
| `publishedOn` | The day the change was added to our change log; can be null. |
| `sequence` | The number of the publish that added the change to our change log; can be null. |

Text values are made safe for spreadsheets: control characters become spaces, and text a spreadsheet could run as a formula gets a leading apostrophe (see the next section).

Example input (set `maxItems` to cap the rows you are charged for):

```json
{"changedSince": "2026-10-19", "changeTypes": ["added"], "counties": ["West Yorkshire"], "maxItems": 50}
```

Cost: pay per change, $0.005 for each change row returned ($5.00 per 1,000), the same on every plan, with no start fee and no run fee. A run that is refused before any data is read, that finds no changes in your window, or that finds the change log unavailable, costs nothing. Set maxItems to cap what a run can cost. The Console form starts at 3 rows (up to $0.015). A call that leaves maxItems out returns up to 100 rows (up to $0.50).

### What it is and is not

- A dated record of changes to a public register. The register itself publishes only its latest file, so history starts on the day we began collecting and any day we did not collect is listed in `RUN_SUMMARY` (`daysMissed`). "Intended each working day; gaps are listed."
- `removed` means the organisation is no longer listed in the file of that date. It does not say why.
- Entries that look like an individual's name are left out and counted in `RUN_SUMMARY` (`withheldByType`; counts under 5 are shown as `<5`). The check is rule-based and can be wrong both ways: it can leave out a genuine organisation, and it can let through a company, school or trading name that belongs to one person. To ask us to remove an organisation, write to the address on our site; a removal changes our record and later runs, but cannot recall rows you have already received.
- Rows the Actor itself declines when it re-checks the log are counted in one number, `rowsRejected` (shown as `<5` when under 5), with no reason given. The Actor never reads or applies a removal list: removals are made in the private publish step before anything is published.
- If a comparison shows more than 3% of the register changing in one day, we hold it back for checking rather than publish it. A smaller truncation could still appear as removals.
- You are responsible for your own use of the rows. We do not check, and cannot control, what customers do with rows once they are delivered.
- Text that a spreadsheet could run as a formula (it starts with =, +, - or @) is stored with a leading apostrophe, so a CSV or Excel export shows it as text. The apostrophe is part of the value. A name that starts with such a character is left out and counted in rowsRejected.
- Being on the register says nothing about the status of any job or about any visa outcome.

# Actor input Schema

## `changedSince` (type: `string`):

First day to include, YYYY-MM-DD. Default: 7 days before the end date. History starts on the day collection began; an earlier date is cut to that day and the run says so.

## `changedUntil` (type: `string`):

Last day to include, YYYY-MM-DD. Default: today. The window is at most 92 days.

## `changeTypes` (type: `array`):

Which changes to return: added, removed (no longer listed), ratingChanged, routeAdded, routeRemoved. Default: all five.

## `routes` (type: `array`):

Only these sponsor routes (exact names, any capitals). An unknown route is refused and the known routes are listed.

## `towns` (type: `array`):

Only these towns or cities (exact, any capitals).

## `counties` (type: `array`):

Only these counties (exact, any capitals).

## `organisationContains` (type: `string`):

Only organisations whose published name contains this text (3 to 60 characters), for example to follow one employer.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

The most change rows to return, and so the most you can be charged for rows: each row costs $0.005 on every plan, so 3 rows cost up to $0.015, 100 up to $0.50 and 5000 up to $25.00. 1 to 5000. The Console form starts at 3; a call that leaves it out gets 100.
