## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Indeed Jobs Scraper — Salaries, Remote & Easy Apply (Any Country)

Collect job listings from Indeed search results in 27 countries and export them to JSON, CSV, Excel or straight into your own tools. Each job comes back as one flat row with the salary split into numbers, remote and Easy Apply flags, job types, benefits and posting date. You can also ask for the full job description.

### What you can use it for

- **Salary research**: compare pay ranges for a role across cities or countries, and see whether Indeed published the range or estimated it.
- **Remote job boards and newsletters**: pull fresh remote listings every day with the "Remote jobs only" and "Date posted" filters.
- **Recruiting and sales intelligence**: see which companies are hiring for which roles, how often, and how urgently.
- **Labour-market analysis**: track job types, benefits and shift patterns for a keyword over time.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **job titles or keywords** (one search per line).
2. Set a **location** (city, state, postcode or `Remote`) and pick the **country** site.
3. Optionally narrow it down with **date posted**, **remote only**, **job type** and **sort**.
4. Turn on **Include full job description** if you need the complete posting text.
5. Run it and download the results from the **Output** tab.

You can also paste Indeed search URLs into **Indeed search URLs** to reuse a search you already set up on Indeed, filters included.

#### Input example

```json
{
    "queries": ["data analyst", "analytics engineer"],
    "location": "Remote",
    "country": "us",
    "maxItemsPerQuery": 100,
    "datePosted": "7",
    "remoteOnly": true,
    "jobType": "fulltime",
    "sort": "date",
    "includeDescription": false,
    "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"] }
}
```

### Output

One dataset item per unique job. Jobs that show up on several pages or under several of your searches are saved only once.

```json
{
    "searchLocation": "Remote",
    "country": "us",
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `salaryMin` / `salaryMax` / `salaryPeriod` | Numeric salary range and its period (`year`, `month`, `week`, `day`, `hour`). `null` when the listing has no salary. |
| `salaryIsEstimate` | `true` when the range is Indeed's own estimate, `false` when the employer published it, `null` when there is no salary. |
| `companyRating` / `companyReviewCount` | `null` when the company has no reviews on Indeed. |
| `isEasyApply` | The job can be applied to directly on Indeed. |
| `isSponsored` | A paid (promoted) listing. |
| `description` | Full posting text, only when **Include full job description** is on. |

The **Output** tab also links to a `RUN_STATS` record with pages fetched, blocked responses, duplicates skipped and a per-search summary.

### Pricing

This Actor uses pay-per-event pricing: **$0.003 per job saved** (event "Job listing scraped"). Nothing is charged for duplicates, failed pages or blocked requests. If you set a maximum cost per run, the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached and keeps everything collected so far.

### Proxies: residential is strongly recommended

Indeed protects its site with aggressive bot detection and blocks most datacenter IP addresses. The Actor drives a real Chromium browser and by default uses the **Apify Proxy RESIDENTIAL** group, rotating to a fresh session whenever Indeed shows a "Security Check" or "Just a moment" page (up to 6 retries per page).

If your account cannot use residential proxies, the run still starts (with a warning) but most pages will probably be blocked. A search that keeps failing is reported in the log and in `RUN_STATS`; it never fails the rest of the run.

### Tips

- Indeed shows about 10–15 jobs per results page, so 50 jobs per search is usually 4–5 pages.
- Turning on full descriptions opens one extra page per job, so runs take longer and use more proxy traffic.
- Indeed stops paginating deep into results (around 1,000 jobs per search). Split broad searches by location or filter to get more.
- If the run is about to hit its timeout, the Actor stops starting new pages and finishes with what it has.

### Responsible use

This Actor only collects job listings that Indeed shows publicly to any visitor, without logging in. Job listings can include names or contact details of recruiters; if you store or process personal data, you are responsible for complying with GDPR, CCPA and other applicable laws. Respect Indeed's terms of service, keep request volumes reasonable and do not use the data for spam or to republish listings in a way that misleads job seekers.

### Limitations

- Indeed changes its page layout from time to time. The Actor reads the job data Indeed embeds in each results page, which changes less often than the visible HTML, but a layout change can still require an update.
- Salary, benefits and job type fields are only as complete as the listing on Indeed.
- Some countries' Indeed sites show fewer filters; unsupported filters are ignored by Indeed.

### Support

Found a problem or need another field? Open an issue on the Actor's **Issues** tab with your run ID and the search you used.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

What to search for, one search per line, exactly as you would type it into Indeed's "What" box (for example "data analyst", "registered nurse", "python developer").

## `location` (type: `string`):

City, state, postcode or "Remote" (Indeed's "Where" box). Leave empty to search the whole country.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Which Indeed site to search.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Stop each search (query or start URL) after this many unique jobs. Indeed shows roughly 10-15 jobs per page.

## `datePosted` (type: `string`):

Only jobs posted within this many days.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Apply Indeed's "Remote" filter.

## `jobType` (type: `string`):

Apply Indeed's job type filter.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Order of results.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Open each job's page to get the full description text. Slower (one extra page per job) but gives the complete posting instead of the short snippet.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Paste Indeed search result URLs (https://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=...\&l=...) to scrape them as-is, with every filter you set on Indeed. They run in addition to the queries above. Job pages and company pages are not accepted here.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Indeed blocks most datacenter IP addresses. Residential proxies are strongly recommended. If the selected proxy is not available to your account the run continues without a proxy (and will likely be blocked).
