## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Telegram Channel Scraper - Posts, Search & Monitoring

Scrape posts from **any public Telegram channel**, with no Telegram account, phone number or API key. Get the text, date, views, reactions, photos, videos, links, hashtags and link previews of every post, newest first, as far back as you want. **Search inside channels** with Telegram's own search, and **monitor channels** with **Only new posts**: each scheduled run returns just what was posted since the last one.

### What you get

| channel | date | text | views | url |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| durov | 2026-10-11 | ✨ Designers × AI … | 1,790,000 | https://t.me/durov/552 |
| durov | 2026-10-10 | 💸 If your wallet doesn't look like this … | 1,920,000 | https://t.me/durov/551 |
| nytimes | 2026-02-20 | Here are some of the stories we are covering … | 34,900 | https://t.me/nytimes/3607 |

Every post also has `postId`, `channelTitle`, `channelSubscribers`, `author`, `forwardedFrom`, `hashtags`, `links`, `photos`, `videos`, `linkPreview` (site, title, description, URL), `reactions` (emoji + count, including paid ⭐ stars), `edited` and `scrapedAt`.

### Use cases

- **Media monitoring:** follow news, crypto, finance or political channels and get every new post.
- **Research and archiving:** collect a channel's full history for analysis.
- **Engagement tracking:** compare views and reactions across posts and channels.
- **Signal and alert feeds:** search channels for a word, or filter by keywords, and pipe matching posts into Slack, Sheets or your app.
- **24/7 monitoring:** schedule the Actor every hour with **Only new posts**; you pay only for posts you haven't received yet.

### How much does it cost?

You pay **$2.00 per 1,000 posts**, nothing else. Set *Maximum results* to cap your spend; the run stops when it reaches your limit. Posts removed by your filters are free.

### How to use it

1. Add channel names or links to **Channels**: `durov`, `@telegram` or `https://t.me/nytimes`.
2. Optionally set **Search in channels**, **Keywords**, **Only new posts**, **Posted within (days)** or **Max posts per channel**.
3. Click **Start** and download as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull results by API.

Schedule it hourly or daily with **Only new posts** turned on to get just what was posted since the last run.

### Input example

```json
{
  "channels": ["durov", "https://t.me/nytimes", "@telegram"],
  "maxPostsPerChannel": 200,
  "searchQuery": "airdrop",
  "onlyNewPosts": true,
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "maxItems": 1000
}
```

### Speed

About 600 posts a minute from a single channel, going back years.

### FAQ

**Which channels work?** Any public channel whose web preview is on, which is the default. You can check by opening `https://t.me/s/<channel>` in a browser. Private groups, private channels and channels whose owner turned the preview off can't be read; they're listed under `FAILED_CHANNELS` in the run's key-value store and cost nothing.

**Do I need a Telegram account?** No.

**Search or Keywords?** **Search in channels** asks Telegram to search each channel (it finds older matching posts too, though Telegram returns only a limited number of results per search). **Keywords** filters the posts the Actor reads, newest first. You can combine them.

**How does "Only new posts" work?** The Actor remembers the newest post it returned for each channel (and search) in your account, in a key-value store named `telegram-channel-scraper-state`, and next time returns only newer posts. The first run returns the latest posts as usual.

**What are `custom:` reactions?** Some channels use their own custom emoji. Telegram only publishes an ID for those, so they appear as `custom:<id>` with their count.

**Is this legal?** The Actor reads only what Telegram publishes openly on the web for public channels. Don't use it to build profiles of private individuals.

**Something broke.** Open an issue on the Issues tab; fixes usually ship within 24 hours.

# Actor input Schema

## `channels` (type: `array`):

Public channel names or links: "durov", "@telegram", "https://t.me/nytimes". Private groups and channels with the web preview turned off can't be read.

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Search each channel for this word or phrase (Telegram's own in-channel search, the same as the search on t.me/s/<channel>). Leave empty for all posts.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only posts whose text contains any of these (case-insensitive). Leave empty for all posts.

## `onlyNewPosts` (type: `boolean`):

Return only posts newer than the newest one this Actor returned for the same channel (and search) in earlier runs on your account. Ideal for hourly or daily monitoring.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only posts from the last N days. Leave empty for all.

## `maxPostsPerChannel` (type: `integer`):

Newest posts first. Leave empty to go back as far as Maximum results allows.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many posts in total. You are charged per post, so this caps your cost.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for normal use. Turn on for very large runs if Telegram starts rate-limiting.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "channels": [
    "durov",
    "telegram"
  ],
  "onlyNewPosts": false,
  "maxItems": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `posts` (type: `string`):

Every post saved in this run.
