## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Ashby Jobs Scraper: salaries, any company or all companies

Get every open job from companies that hire through **Ashby**, the applicant tracking system behind the career pages of OpenAI, Notion, Ramp, Linear, Zapier, Cohere, n8n and thousands of other startups and scale-ups.

You can scrape the companies you name, or **search the jobs of every Ashby company at once** by job title, location, remote/hybrid, employment type, department, posting date and salary.

Each job comes with its **full pay breakdown**: every salary range the company publishes (for example "United States" vs "Canada", or "Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3" cities), plus equity, bonus and commission. The salary is also converted to a **yearly USD figure**, so hourly, monthly, EUR, GBP and CAD pay can be compared side by side.

No login, no cookies and no browser, so it's fast: a whole company takes a few seconds.

### What you get

| | |
|---|---|
| 🏢 **Company** | name, website, logo, Ashby board URL |
| 💼 **Job** | title, department, team, employment type (full-time, part-time, contract, intern), workplace (remote / hybrid / on-site) |
| 📍 **Location** | primary location + every secondary location, city, region, country, postal code, all countries |
| 💰 **Salary** | posted summary, min / max, currency, interval (year / month / hour), **annual USD min / max**, equity / bonus / commission flags, **every compensation tier with its own range** |
| 📝 **Description** | plain text, HTML, both, or none |
| 🔗 **Links** | job URL, direct apply URL |
| 📅 **Dates** | published date; optional application deadline |
| 🆕 **Change tracking** | `isNew` and `firstSeenAt` on every job, plus an **only new jobs** mode for alerts |

### How to use it

#### 1. Scrape specific companies

Add the companies you want under **Companies**. Any of these formats work:

- the board name: `openai`, `ramp`, `notion`
- a board link: `https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai`
- a job link: `https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai/5f0c…`
- the company's own careers page: `https://linear.app/careers`. The Ashby board linked or embedded on that page is found automatically.

#### 2. Search every Ashby company

Turn on **Search all Ashby companies** and add filters, for example:

```json
{
  "searchAllCompanies": true,
  "titleKeywords": ["data engineer", "machine learning engineer"],
  "locationKeywords": ["Canada", "Toronto"]
}
```

This checks about 4,000 companies (60,000+ open jobs) in about 2 minutes and only returns jobs that match your filters.

#### 3. Get job alerts

Schedule the actor (daily, for example) with **Only new jobs since the last run** turned on. Each run returns only postings you haven't received before, so you can pipe it to email, Slack, a Google Sheet or your ATS.

### Filters

All filters are optional and are combined with AND.

- **Job title keywords**: whole words, with plurals included (`engineer` matches "Senior Engineers" but not "Engineering"). Add `*` for a prefix match (`engineer*`). You can also match keywords in the **description** (for example `python`).
- **Exclude title keywords**: for example `senior`, `staff`, `intern`.
- **Locations**: city, region, country or the company's own label (`San Francisco`, `Ontario`, `Germany`, `EMEA`, `USA`). Every location of a job is checked. `Remote` matches remote jobs.
- **Workplace type**: Remote / Hybrid / On-site.
- **Employment type**: Full-time / Part-time / Contract / Internship / Temporary.
- **Departments / teams**: for example `Engineering`, `Sales`.
- **Posted within N days**.
- **Only jobs with a salary**, and a **minimum yearly salary in USD**.

### Use cases

- **Job seekers**: one feed of every matching role across thousands of startups, filtered by title, location, remote and pay.
- **Recruiters and sourcers**: see which companies are hiring for a role and where.
- **Salary benchmarking**: structured pay ranges by role, level, city tier and country, normalised to yearly USD.
- **Sales and investor signals**: hiring velocity, new departments and new locations are early growth signals. Scheduled runs with change tracking show what's new each day.
- **Job boards and newsletters**: fresh, deduplicated postings with apply links, ready to publish.

### FAQ

**Which companies are included in "Search all"?**
Our directory holds about 4,000 companies with live Ashby job boards (more than 60,000 open jobs). It's refreshed weekly, and every company anyone scrapes by name is added to it. If a company you care about is missing, list it under **Companies**. You can combine **Companies** with **Search all**.

**Why is a well-known company missing from a "Search all" run?**
A few companies ask search engines not to index their Ashby job postings. By default, "Search all" respects that. You can change it under **Advanced**. Companies you list by name are always scraped.

**How fresh is the data?**
Jobs are read live from each company's Ashby board on every run.

**How do I find a company's Ashby name?**
Open the company's careers page. If job links point to `jobs.ashbyhq.com/<name>`, that `<name>` is the value to use. You can also paste the careers page URL itself.

**Why is the salary empty on some jobs?**
Not every company publishes pay on Ashby. Use **Only jobs with a salary range** to skip those jobs.

**How accurate is the annual USD salary?**
Hourly pay is annualised at 2,080 hours, monthly pay at 12 months and weekly pay at 52 weeks. Currencies are converted at the day's exchange rate. The original amount, currency and interval are always included.

**Does "Only new jobs" work across different searches?**
Runs with the same companies and filters share their memory automatically. You can also set a **Tracking name** to control it yourself.

**Do I pay for jobs that my filters remove?**
No. You only pay for jobs saved to your dataset.

**Is there a limit?**
There's no hard limit. Use **Max jobs** and **Max jobs per company** to cap a run.

**Is it legal to scrape Ashby job boards?**
This actor only collects public job postings: the same listings companies publish on their Ashby career pages for anyone to read, taken from Ashby's public job board feed. It doesn't log in and doesn't touch anything behind a login. Job postings describe roles, not people, but a description written by the employer can occasionally mention a recruiter or hiring manager by name or email. If you store or reuse that kind of personal data, follow the data protection laws that apply to you (such as GDPR, PIPEDA or CCPA) and the website's terms. If you're unsure whether your use case is legitimate, check with a lawyer. You can read more in Apify's article [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)

**Does it access any private data?**
No. It reads only what is publicly visible on each company's Ashby job board: the board page and Ashby's public job posting feed. No accounts, passwords or cookies are used, and it never sees candidates, applications or anything inside a company's Ashby account. When you paste a company's own careers page, that public page is read only to find its Ashby board link.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Companies whose Ashby job board you want. Use the name from their jobs.ashbyhq.com/<name> link (e.g. openai, ramp, notion), paste a jobs.ashbyhq.com link, or paste the company's own careers page URL and the Ashby board is found for you.

## `searchAllCompanies` (type: `boolean`):

Search the jobs of every company in our Ashby directory (thousands of startups and scale-ups, refreshed weekly) instead of only the companies above. Combine with the filters below — e.g. title "data engineer" + location "Canada".

## `titleKeywords` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose title contains any of these words or phrases (whole words, plurals included: "engineer" matches "Senior Engineers" but not "Engineering"; add \* for a prefix: "engineer\*"). Leave empty for all jobs.

## `keywordScope` (type: `string`):

Match the keywords in the job title only, or in the title and the full job description (e.g. to find every job that mentions "Python").

## `excludeTitleKeywords` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs whose title contains any of these (e.g. senior, staff, intern).

## `locationKeywords` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs in any of these places — city, state/region, country or the company's own location label ("San Francisco", "Ontario", "Germany", "EMEA", "USA"). Checks every location of a job, including secondary ones. "Remote" matches remote jobs.

## `workplaceTypes` (type: `array`):

Keep only these workplace types. Leave empty for all.

## `employmentTypes` (type: `array`):

Keep only these employment types. Leave empty for all.

## `departments` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose department or team contains any of these (e.g. Engineering, Sales, Marketing).

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only jobs published in the last N days.

## `hasSalaryOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Skip jobs that don't publish pay.

## `minSalaryUsd` (type: `integer`):

Only jobs whose pay range reaches at least this much per year, converted to USD (hourly and monthly pay are annualised). Implies "only jobs with a salary range".

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of jobs to save in this run. Leave empty for no limit.

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Cap per company (newest first). Handy with "Search all" so one big employer doesn't fill your results.

## `descriptionFormat` (type: `string`):

Include the full job description as plain text, HTML, both, or leave it out for a lighter dataset.

## `includeCompanyDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Add the company's display name, website and logo to every job.

## `includeApplicationDeadline` (type: `boolean`):

Add applicationDeadline (set by some companies). Needs one extra request per job, so runs are slower.

## `onlyNewSinceLastRun` (type: `boolean`):

Return only jobs this search has not returned before — ideal for scheduled runs and job alerts. Every job always carries isNew and firstSeenAt either way. The first run returns everything.

## `changeTrackingKey` (type: `string`):

Optional. Runs with the same companies and filters share their "already seen" memory automatically. Set a name to share it explicitly (e.g. "ml-jobs-canada"), or change it to start fresh.

## `skipCompaniesThatOptOutOfIndexing` (type: `boolean`):

In "Search all" mode, skip the few companies that ask job search engines not to index their postings. Companies you list by name are always included.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many company boards to read at once.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy (automatic) is recommended. If the proxy is unavailable the actor connects directly, so runs don't fail.
