## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## HiringCafe Jobs Scraper

Scrape job listings from [HiringCafe](https://hiringcafe.com) by keyword and location and get clean, structured data. Every job includes the **employer's own application link**, the **salary range**, **seniority and experience**, **remote/hybrid/on-site** status, the **posting date** and the **full description**. You also get HiringCafe's **company data**: headcount, founding year, funding stage and amount, lead investors and stock ticker.

HiringCafe collects jobs directly from employers' career sites (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, iCIMS, SuccessFactors and many more). You get the original postings, not reposts from job boards or recruiters.

No login, cookies or browser needed.

### What you get

- **The actual application link.** It opens the employer's own careers page (for example `jobs.ashbyhq.com/docebo/...` or `sunlife.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/...`), not an aggregator redirect.
- **Salary data.** You get the posted range with its currency and pay period (hourly, yearly and so on), a yearly figure you can compare across jobs, and a flag that says whether the employer published the pay.
- **How competitive a job is.** Each job shows how many HiringCafe users viewed it, applied to it and saved it.
- **Company details.** Employee count, year founded, HQ country, industries, public/private status, latest funding round (stage, amount, year, investors), stock ticker and exchange, and parent company.
- **Role details.** Seniority, individual contributor or manager, department, minimum years of experience, requirements summary, key responsibilities, tools and technologies, degree requirements and fields of study, languages, licenses, security clearance and benefits (visa sponsorship, relocation, 4-day week, 401k matching, and more).
- **All of a company's jobs, one row each.** HiringCafe shows only a few jobs per company card and folds the same role posted in several locations into one listing. This actor opens those cards and lists each location's posting separately, with its own application link (`alternateOf` points to the main listing).
- **Full description.** The complete posting text, with paragraphs and bullet points preserved.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **job titles or keywords**, such as `data analyst` or `registered nurse`.
2. Enter one or more **locations**, such as `Toronto, ON`, `Austin, TX`, `California`, `United Kingdom` or `remote`. Leave this empty to search worldwide.
3. Set **Max jobs per search**. Every keyword is searched in every location.
4. Add filters if you need them: workplace type, employment type, seniority, posting date, department, minimum pay, max years of experience, company size, company type, benefits, companies to include or exclude.
5. Click **Start**.

Want the exact filters you set on hiringcafe.com? Copy the URL from your browser's address bar into **HiringCafe URLs**. Every filter in that URL is applied. You can also paste individual job links (`hiringcafe.com/job/...`).

#### Example input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["data analyst", "business analyst"],
  "locations": ["Toronto, ON", "Vancouver, BC"],
  "maxItems": 200,
  "workplaceTypes": ["Hybrid", "Remote"],
  "seniorityLevels": ["Entry Level", "Mid Level"],
  "postedWithinDays": "30",
  "includeDescription": true
}
```

#### Tips for locations

- Add the state or province to be precise: `London, ON` (Canada) vs `London` (England), or `Portland, OR` vs `Portland, ME`.
- If you leave it off, the largest place with that name is used, and the run log shows which place was picked.
- Use `remote` for remote-only jobs. States (`Texas`) and countries (`Germany`) also work.
- **Search radius** (default 50 miles) applies to cities.

### Output

One row per job. Here is a shortened example:

```json
You can download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them through the Apify API. The **Overview** and **Company details** views in the Output tab show the most useful columns.
### Modes
| | Complete (default) | Quick |
|---|---|---|
| Jobs per search | All matching jobs, including those hidden in grouped company cards and multi-location listings | About one job per employer |
| Employer apply link (`applyUrl`) | Yes | No (`url` links to the job on HiringCafe) |
| Views / applies / saves | Yes | No |
| Company headcount, funding, ticker | Yes | No |
| Salary, seniority, requirements, tools, description | Yes | Yes |
**Auto** mode uses Complete. If Complete can't run, the actor finishes the search in Quick mode, so the run still returns results. Every row has an `engine` field (`full` or `fast`) that says which mode produced it.
**Complete mode needs Apify's unblocker proxy group on your plan.** Without it, every search runs in Quick mode and the status message says so and what to enable (Apify Console → Proxy). Quick mode works on every plan.
### What happens when something goes wrong
The run always finishes with the jobs it could get and a status message that says what happened. You pay per job saved (plus a tiny $0.00005 start fee per run), so an empty run costs next to nothing.
- **HiringCafe or the proxy is slow or blocking:** every request is retried with a fresh session; a search that can't run in Complete mode is finished in Quick mode; descriptions that can't be fetched are left empty rather than holding up the run.
- **A location can't be found:** that search is skipped with a suggestion (add the state or province); the other searches run.
- **The run is about to time out:** it stops a minute early, saves everything collected so far and reports `Partial — …`. The same happens when your maximum charge per run is reached.
- **Unusual input:** `maxResults` / `limit` work like `maxItems`; `query` / `keywords` like `searchQueries`; `location` like `locations`; `urls` like `startUrls`; `mode: "complete"` / `"quick"` like `engine`. Values that HiringCafe does not support are ignored with a warning in the log.
### Use cases
- **Job seekers:** build a personal feed of fresh roles that match your seniority, salary floor and preferred companies, then apply on the employer's own site.
- **Recruiters and staffing firms:** find companies hiring for a role in your market, along with their headcount and funding stage.
- **Sales prospecting:** list companies that are actively hiring in a department (for example "Data and Analytics" in Toronto) and use their size and funding for lead scoring.
- **Salary benchmarking:** compare published pay ranges by title, seniority and city.
- **Labour-market research:** track how many jobs are posted, and how quickly, by role, location, industry or company type.
### FAQ
**How many jobs can I get?**
Up to your **Max jobs per search** for each keyword and location. The run summary shows how many jobs were found next to HiringCafe's own count, e.g. `"registered nurse" in Austin, TX, US: 569 of 656`. A full scrape usually returns a little less than HiringCafe's count, because some listings in that count are not shown as separate jobs. In our tests it returned about 85–90%. For very broad searches (for example "software engineer" worldwide, 70,000+ jobs), the actor splits the search by posting week to get past the site's paging limit.
**How often are jobs updated?**
HiringCafe re-checks employer career sites continuously. Every run gets the current listings. Use `postedWithinDays` together with an Apify schedule to collect new jobs daily.
**Do I need a HiringCafe account?**
No.
**Is it legal to scrape HiringCafe?**
This Actor only collects publicly available data: job listings that anyone can see on hiringcafe.com without an account, such as the title, employer, location, salary, requirements, description and company details. Collecting publicly available data is generally legal, but you're responsible for how you use it. Some job descriptions include the name or contact e-mail of a recruiter that the employer chose to publish, and that counts as personal data. You must follow privacy laws such as GDPR, PIPEDA and CCPA, as well as HiringCafe's terms. If you're unsure, check with a lawyer. More on this: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)
**Does it access any private data?**
No. Everything comes from job listings HiringCafe shows to any visitor without logging in. It never uses a login or cookies and never touches user accounts. The views, applies and saves on each job are totals only; nothing about the HiringCafe users behind those numbers is collected or saved.
**The status says "Partial". Did I lose anything?**
No. Everything the run collected before it stopped (run timeout or your charge limit) is in the dataset, and only those rows were charged. Raise the run timeout or the charge limit, or lower **Max jobs per search**, and run again.
**Why is `applyUrl` empty on some rows?**
Rows with `engine: "fast"` came from Quick mode. Use the `url` field to open the job on HiringCafe, where the apply button is.
**Why did my run use Quick mode when I chose Auto or Complete?**
Complete mode loads HiringCafe's search pages through Apify's unblocker proxy group. If your Apify plan doesn't include it, the actor runs every search in Quick mode instead of failing, and the status message says your account can't use that proxy group. To get Complete results (every job, employer apply links, company data), enable the unblocker proxy group in Apify Console → Proxy.
**Why are `salaryMin`/`salaryMax` sometimes empty?**
The employer did not publish pay for that job. Turn on **Only jobs with a published salary** to skip those jobs.
**Can I scrape only specific companies?**
Yes. Add them under **Only these companies**. You can leave the keyword empty to get all their open roles in the chosen locations.
