## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Marktplaats Scraper: Netherlands listings, prices and bids

Scrape **Marktplaats.nl**, the biggest classifieds site in the Netherlands, by **search term, category or URL**. Every listing comes with the **title, price and price type (fixed, bidding from, bids accepted, free…), condition, delivery (pick-up or shipping), brand, all card attributes, category, town, photos, posted date and promotion flags**. Turn on **item details** to add the **full description, every photo, the spec table, the exact posting time, views, favourites, bids and whether the seller is private or a business**. No login, no cookies, no Marktplaats account.

### What you get

| | |
|---|---|
| **Listing** | Item ID, URL, title, description (search snippet or full text) |
| **Price** | Price in euros, price type (fixed price, bidding from, bids accepted, see description, free, exchange…) |
| **Item** | Condition, delivery, brand and every other attribute Marktplaats shows (frame height, storage, size, model…) |
| **Category** | Subcategory and top-level category, with their IDs and URL keys |
| **Location** | Town, country, approximate coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) |
| **Media** | Photo URLs in large size |
| **Flags** | Promoted (Dagtopper / Topadvertentie), reserved, has video |
| **Item details** (optional) | Full description, all photos, the spec table, exact posting time, views, favourites, bid count, highest and latest bid, buy-now and buyer-protection flags, private or business seller |

**Sellers stay anonymous.** The scraper never collects a seller's name, user ID, profile link, website, phone number or e-mail. Phone numbers and e-mail addresses written inside titles and descriptions are removed, bidders are never collected, and coordinates are rounded so they never point at a home.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **search terms**, e.g. `iphone 15`, `gazelle`, `lego technic`, or pick a **category** to browse it.
2. Optionally pick a **category**, **condition** (new, as good as new, used, refurbished, not working) and **delivery** (pick-up or shipping).
3. Set **Max listings** and run. Turn on **Include item details** when you need views, bids, exact dates or full descriptions.

**Max listings** is the total for the run, shared fairly between your searches. You can also paste Marktplaats search, category or item URLs, including filtered ones such as a brand page (`…/f/gazelle/3494/`).

```
Every row has the same 47 columns (see the Output tab); a value Marktplaats doesn't publish is `null`. `specs`, `postedAt`, `viewCount`, `favoritedCount`, the bid fields, `buyItNow` and `buyerProtection` are filled when **Include item details** is on. Condition, delivery and spec labels are in Dutch, as Marktplaats shows them.
### Use cases
- **Resale price research**: what used iPhones, bikes, cameras or furniture actually sell for, by condition.
- **Price monitoring**: track asking prices and new listings in a category with a daily schedule.
- **Demand signals**: views, favourites and bids per item show what is in demand.
- **Market analysis**: supply by category, brand and town; share of business vs private listings.
- **Sourcing**: find items to buy for resale or refurbishment.
### FAQ
**Do I need a Marktplaats account, cookies or a login?** No. The scraper reads the same public pages any visitor sees. It never logs in and needs nothing from you except a search term, a category or a URL.
**How many listings can I get?** Marktplaats shows at most 5,010 listings (167 pages) per search. When you ask for more, the scraper splits the search into its subcategories, and those into conditions, so a broad search like `fiets` can return tens of thousands of listings. Set **Max listings** to 0 for as many as possible.
**How fast is it?** About 30 listings per page and roughly 2 seconds per page, so 1,000 listings take around a minute. **Include item details** opens each item page, which adds about 1 second per listing.
**Can I sort by newest, filter by price or search around a postcode?** Not yet. Marktplaats applies sorting, price ranges, postcodes and "offered since" in your browser only (they are the part of a URL after `#`), so the scraper can't use them. Search terms, categories, subcategories, condition, delivery and attribute filters in pasted URLs (such as brand) all work.
**Why is `postedDate` today for an older listing?** Promoted listings (Dagtoppers) show the date of their latest promotion on the search page. Turn on **Include item details** to get the original posting time in `postedAt`.
**What about sellers?** Many Marktplaats sellers are private individuals, so the scraper collects item data only. It never collects a seller's name, user ID, profile link, website, phone or e-mail, never opens seller pages, removes phone numbers and e-mails from titles and descriptions, and rounds coordinates to about 1 km. `sellerType` only says whether the seller is private or a business. Personal ads (Contacten en Berichten) are not scraped. Turn off **Include descriptions** to leave seller-written text out entirely.
**Which proxy should I use?** Keep the default (Apify Proxy, datacenter). It comes with every Apify plan, including the free one. If Marktplaats refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them, and carries on without them when it doesn't.
**What does a run cost?** You pay per listing saved, per listing whose item page was read, and a small fee per run. See the Pricing tab.
**Is it legal to scrape Marktplaats?** This Actor only collects publicly available data: listings that anyone can see on Marktplaats without an account, such as titles, prices, conditions, towns and photos. Collecting publicly available data is generally legal, but you're responsible for how you use it. Listings are often published by private individuals; the scraper leaves out their name and contact details and removes phone numbers and e-mails from their texts. You must follow privacy laws such as the GDPR (AVG) and Marktplaats' terms. If you're unsure, check with a lawyer. More on this: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)
**Does it access any private data?** No. Everything comes from pages Marktplaats shows to any visitor without logging in. It never uses a login, never contacts sellers, and follows Marktplaats' robots.txt (which is why it reads the public search pages rather than Marktplaats' internal search API).
# Actor input Schema
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
What to search for, as you would type it on Marktplaats, e.g. "iphone 15", "gazelle", "lego technic". Each term is a separate search. Leave empty to browse a whole category.
## `category` (type: `string`):
Limit the search to one Marktplaats category, or browse it without search terms. For a subcategory, paste its URL under Marktplaats URLs.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of listings for the whole run, shared fairly between your searches. 0 = as many as possible (Marktplaats shows up to 5,010 per search; bigger searches are split into subcategories automatically).
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also open each item page for the full description, every photo, the spec table, the exact posting time, views, favourites, bids and whether the seller is private or a business. One extra page per listing.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Optional: Marktplaats search or category URLs (marktplaats.nl/q/… or /l/…, including filters such as brand or condition) or item URLs (marktplaats.nl/v/…). Sorting, price range and postcode filters live after the # in a URL and are applied by your browser only, so they are ignored.
## `condition` (type: `array`):
Only items in these conditions. Leave empty for any.
## `delivery` (type: `string`):
Pick-up only, shipping only, or any.
## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):
Turn off to leave the seller-written description out of every row.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Apify Proxy (datacenter) is the default and comes with every Apify plan. If Marktplaats refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them.
