## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## resale.info Scraper: used industrial machinery listings

Scrape **resale.info**, the European marketplace for used machines and industrial equipment (130,000+ listings from machinery dealers, auctioneers and companies). Pick **categories** (lathes, milling machines, presses, injection moulding machines, forklifts, packaging, food processing and 1,500 more), **manufacturers** (DMG Mori, Trumpf, Mazak, Engel…) or a **dealer**, and get every machine with its **manufacturer, model, type, year of manufacture, condition, price and currency, location, listing date, description and technical data, photos and the selling dealer**. Filter by price, year, country, condition and approved dealers. No login, no cookies, no resale.info account.

This Actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by resale.info or RESALE Gebrauchtmaschinen.

### What you get

| | |
|---|---|
| **Machine** | Manufacturer, model, type of machine, category and category path, condition (used/new), year of manufacture, quantity, stock status |
| **Price** | Asking price and currency (EUR, CHF…), "price on request", negotiable (VB/BN), auction lots with their start price |
| **Location** | Country, postal code and town |
| **Listing** | resale.info item number, URL, listing date, full description and technical data, all photo URLs, the seller's own offer number |
| **Seller** | Dealer company, approved-dealer flag, dealer ID and profile link, town and country, member since, number of machines listed (plus street address and website for dealer links) |

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **categories** as resale.info names them, e.g. `CNC turning machines`, `lathes`, `milling machines`, `forklift trucks`, or a category number such as `rs-102`.
2. And/or enter **manufacturers**, e.g. `DMG Mori`, `Trumpf`.
3. Set **Max listings** and any filters, then run.

Categories and manufacturers together keep only that manufacturer's machines in those categories. A main category such as `metal working machines` is searched through all of its sub-categories.

```
Fields marked "with listing details" in the dataset schema (postal code, town, quantity, stock, full description, category path, all photos, the dealer) are filled when **Include listing details** is on (the default). Every row has the same columns; a value the listing doesn't state is `null`.
### Use cases
- **Machinery dealers and brokers**: source stock, track what competitors list and at what price.
- **Price research and valuation**: compare asking prices by manufacturer, model, year and country.
- **Lead generation**: find dealers and auctioneers by category and country, with their town and listing volume.
- **Market monitoring**: schedule a daily run with **Listed within: 1** for every new machine in your categories.
- **Procurement**: watch for a specific model across all of Europe.
### FAQ
**Do I need a resale.info account, cookies or a login?** No. The scraper reads the same public pages any visitor sees. It never logs in and needs nothing from you except a category, a manufacturer or a link.
**Can I search by keyword?** resale.info's robots.txt asks crawlers not to use its search pages, and this scraper respects that. Use **Categories** and **Manufacturers** instead: together they cover the whole catalogue, and the filters narrow it down.
**How fast is it?** A result page holds 30–50 listings and takes about a second. With **Include listing details** on, the scraper reads three listing pages at a time, roughly two to three listings per second. Without details, 1,000 listings take under a minute.
**Why only 20 listings for a dealer?** A dealer's public profile shows its 20 newest machines; the full list sits behind a page that resale.info's robots.txt disallows. To get all of a dealer's machines, search its categories and filter by manufacturer or country.
**How do the filters work?** They are checked on every listing as it is read, so a narrow filter reads more pages. With filters on, each category stops after 50 result pages unless you raise **Max result pages per search**. Prices are compared in the listing's own currency.
**Which proxy should I use?** Keep the default (Apify Proxy, datacenter). It comes with every Apify plan, including the free one. If resale.info refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them, and carries on without them when it doesn't.
**What does a run cost?** You pay a small fee per run, per result page read, per listing saved, and per listing whose details were loaded. See the Pricing tab. Listings removed by your filters are never charged as listings.
**Is it legal to scrape resale.info?** This Actor only collects publicly available data: machine listings that anyone can see on resale.info without an account, such as the machine, its price and location, and the selling company. Collecting publicly available data is generally legal, but you're responsible for how you use it. Listings are published by businesses; the scraper never collects a contact person's name or phone number, only names a seller when it is a company, and removes personal phone numbers and e-mail addresses from descriptions. You must follow privacy laws such as GDPR, as well as resale.info's terms. If you're unsure, check with a lawyer. More on this: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)
**Does it access any private data?** No. Everything comes from pages resale.info shows to any visitor without logging in. It never uses a login, never sends inquiries, never touches watchlists or accounts, and follows the site's robots.txt.
# Actor input Schema
## `categories` (type: `array`):
Machine categories as resale.info names them, e.g. "CNC turning machines", "lathes", "milling machines", "injection moulding machines", "forklift trucks", or a category number such as "rs-102" or "102-90". A main category (e.g. "metal working machines") is searched through all its sub-categories. Each category is searched separately.
## `manufacturers` (type: `array`):
Machine manufacturers, e.g. "DMG Mori", "Trumpf", "Mazak", "Engel". On their own, all of a manufacturer's listings are scraped. Together with Categories, only that manufacturer's machines in those categories are kept.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Optional: resale.info category pages (…/rs-102/), manufacturer pages (…/trumpf/used-trumpf/), dealer profiles (…/used-machinery-dealer-1086/…) or single listings (…/No-169875752). Use the English pages of www.resale.info.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of listings for the whole run, shared fairly between your categories and manufacturers. 0 = everything.
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also open every listing page for the full description and technical data, the exact location (postal code and town), quantity, stock status, all photos and the selling dealer. One extra page per listing, charged per listing. Off = only what the result pages show (machine, year, price, country, short description, photos).
## `priceMin` (type: `integer`):
Only listings with at least this price, in the listing's own currency (most are EUR; Swiss dealers use CHF). Listings without a price are left out when a price filter is set.
## `priceMax` (type: `integer`):
Only listings up to this price, in the listing's own currency.
## `yearMin` (type: `integer`):
Only machines built in or after this year.
## `yearMax` (type: `integer`):
Only machines built in or before this year.
## `countries` (type: `array`):
Only machines located in these countries, e.g. "Germany", "Italy", "PL".
## `condition` (type: `string`):
Used, new, or both.
## `withPriceOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Leave out "request quote" listings.
## `verifiedDealersOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Only listings from resale.info's approved (verified) dealers.
## `excludeAuctions` (type: `boolean`):
Leave out machines that are sold in an auction (their price is a start or current bid).
## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):
Only listings from the last N days. Results are newest first, so the search stops at the first older listing.
## `maxPagesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):
Stop each category or manufacturer after this many result pages (30–50 listings each). Empty = no limit, or 50 pages when filters are set (so a filter that matches little can't scan a whole category).
## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):
How many listing pages are read at the same time.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Apify Proxy (datacenter) is the default and comes with every Apify plan. If resale.info refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them.
