## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## The 1916 Company & WatchBox Scraper: luxury watch prices

Scrape the luxury watch inventory of **The 1916 Company** (the dealer formed by WatchBox, Govberg and Hyde Park; thewatchbox.com now redirects there): **pre-owned watches, new watches and Rolex Certified Pre-Owned**, by brand, by model family or for a whole section. Every watch comes with its **brand, model, reference number, condition, price and currency, original price when it's on sale, year and case size when shown, images and URL**. Optionally add **box and papers, movement, calibre, power reserve, case, dial and bracelet details, complications, the showroom holding it, the date it was listed** and the full specs table. No login, no cookies, no account.

### What you get

| | |
|---|---|
| **Watch** | Brand, model family, name, reference number, stock number, condition (pre-owned, new, Rolex CPO), year, case size and material, URL |
| **Price** | Price and currency, original price and "on sale" flag, price-on-request flag, price valid until |
| **Listing** | Description, images, warranty, gender, style, country of manufacture, last updated, page views today |
| **Watch details** (optional) | Box and papers included, warranty, certificates, movement, calibre, power reserve, water resistance, case back and shape, crystal, bezel, dial color, hour markers, bracelet material and color, clasp, complications, showroom, first-listed date, days listed, views this week and month, video review, the full specs table, buy online vs inquire |

### How to use it

1. Pick a **condition**: pre-owned, new, Rolex Certified Pre-Owned, or all.
2. Add **brands** such as `Omega`, `Patek Philippe`, `Audemars Piguet`, `Cartier` or `A. Lange & Söhne`, or paste brand / model-family pages into **The 1916 Company URLs** (e.g. `https://www.the1916company.com/pre-owned/omega/speedmaster/`). With no brands and no URLs, the whole section is scraped.
3. Set **Max watches**, a **sort order** and any filters, then run.

#### Input examples

  "condition": "pre-owned",
  "brands": ["Omega"],
  "sortBy": "newest",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```
Every pre-owned Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet with box and papers, between $30,000 and $80,000:
```json
{
  "condition": "pre-owned",
  "brands": ["Patek Philippe", "Audemars Piguet"],
  "minPrice": 30000,

  "boxIncluded": false,
  "papersIncluded": false,
  "warrantyIncluded": true,
  "movement": "Manual Wind",

  "viewsMonth": 1141,
  "videoUrl": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsY8gfg_-jA",
  "detailsFetched": true
}
```
Every row has the same columns; a value the site doesn't show (or that comes from the watch page when details are off) is `null`.
### Use cases
- **Watch price research**: track asking prices by brand, model, reference and year for the pre-owned market.
- **Dealer and collector monitoring**: get new arrivals daily (sort by newest) and price drops (`onSale`, `originalPrice`).
- **Inventory analysis**: how many pieces of a reference are for sale, at what prices, with or without box and papers, in which showroom.
- **Feeding a watch price database** alongside other marketplaces.
### FAQ
**Do I need an account, cookies or a login?** No. The scraper reads the same public pages any visitor sees. It never logs in and needs nothing from you except a condition, a brand or a URL.
**Does it work for WatchBox?** Yes. WatchBox is now The 1916 Company, and thewatchbox.com redirects to the1916company.com, so its inventory is this inventory. Links on thewatchbox.com that use the current paths (…/pre-owned/…, …/watches/…, …/rolex-certified-pre-owned/…) are read on the1916company.com; old WatchBox shop links (…/shop/…) no longer lead to the same watches, so use a brand or the current page instead.
**Why are prices in US dollars? Can I get another currency?** The 1916 Company prices pre-owned and Rolex CPO watches in the visitor's local currency. The scraper uses US proxies by default, so you get US dollars. Pick another proxy country in the **Proxy** setting to get that country's prices; every row says its `currency`. New watches are listed in US dollars.
**Why do some new watches have no price?** Some brands are sold on request. Those rows have `priceOnRequest: true` and no price; they are left out when you set a price filter.
**How many watches can I get?** All of them. The site shows at most 200 watches per page, so a bigger brand or section is read brand by brand and model family by model family, automatically.
**Is there a keyword search?** The site's search pages are off-limits to crawlers (robots.txt), so the scraper reads brand and model pages instead. Use **Keywords** to keep only watches whose name, model or reference contains a word, e.g. `126610LN` or `moonphase`.
**Does sorting work across brands?** Sorting applies to each page the site lists. When a big section is read brand by brand (or Rolex CPO model by model), the order applies within each brand or model.
**Which proxy should I use?** Keep the default (Apify Proxy, datacenter, United States). It comes with every Apify plan, including the free one. If the site refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them.
**What does a run cost?** You pay per watch saved, per listing page read, a small fee per run, and per watch page opened when you ask for details or for box-and-papers filtering (also when that watch is then left out). See the Pricing tab. Watches left out by your filters are never charged as watches.
**Is it legal to scrape The 1916 Company?** This Actor only collects publicly available data: the dealer's own watch listings that anyone can see without an account, such as the brand, model, reference number, condition, price and specifications. Collecting publicly available data is generally legal, but you're responsible for how you use it. The listings describe watches, not people; no personal data is collected. You must follow privacy laws such as GDPR, PIPEDA and CCPA, as well as the site's terms. If you're unsure, check with a lawyer. More on this: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)
**Does it access any private data?** No. Everything comes from pages the site shows to any visitor without logging in. It never uses a login, never touches accounts, carts or wishlists, and follows the site's robots.txt.
This Actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The 1916 Company or WatchBox. Their names are trademarks of their owners, used here only to describe the website the data comes from.
# Actor input Schema
## `condition` (type: `string`):
Which part of the inventory: pre-owned watches, new watches (authorized dealer), Rolex Certified Pre-Owned, or all three. With no brands and no URLs, the whole section is scraped.
## `brands` (type: `array`):
Brands as the site writes them, e.g. "Omega", "Patek Philippe", "Audemars Piguet", "Cartier", "A. Lange & Söhne". Each brand is read in the chosen condition(s). Empty = every brand.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Brand or model-family pages (e.g. https://www.the1916company.com/pre-owned/omega/speedmaster/), section pages, or single watch pages. thewatchbox.com links with the same paths work too.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of watches for the whole run, shared fairly between your brands and pages. 0 = everything.
## `sortBy` (type: `string`):
The order the site lists watches in. Rolex Certified Pre-Owned is read model by model, so there the order applies within each model.
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also open each watch's page for box and papers, movement and calibre, power reserve, water resistance, case back and shape, crystal, bezel, dial, bracelet and clasp, complications, showroom, first-listed date, page views and the full specs table. Adds one page per watch.
## `minPrice` (type: `integer`):
Only watches at or above this price (in the currency the site shows; US dollars with the default proxy). Watches with the price on request are left out when a price filter is set.
## `maxPrice` (type: `integer`):
Only watches at or below this price.
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
Only watches whose name, model, reference number or description contains one of these words, e.g. "Submariner", "126610LN", "moonphase".
## `yearFrom` (type: `integer`):
Only watches made in or after this year. Watches whose year is not shown are left out.
## `yearTo` (type: `integer`):
Only watches made in or before this year.
## `fullSetOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Only watches that come with both the box and the papers. Each watch's page is opened to check (charged as watch details).
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Apify Proxy (datacenter, United States) is the default and comes with every Apify plan. The 1916 Company prices watches in the visitor's local currency, so the country you pick sets the currency (US = US dollars). If the site refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them.
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All scraped watches.

## `run` (type: `string`):

Status and statistics for this run.
