## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Watch Collecting & Collecting Cars Scraper: sold prices and live bids

Scrape the auctions of **Collecting.com** (formerly **Watch Collecting**) and its sister site **Collecting Cars**. Get **sold results with the hammer price** going back to 2021, **live auctions with the current bid and end time**, and **coming-soon lots**. Every lot comes with the **brand, title, year, reference number, box and papers, number of bids, reserve status, seller type, location, currency, and the price converted to GBP, USD and EUR**. Car lots add the model, mileage, transmission, fuel and drive side. Filter by brand, seller type, price, country, year, no-reserve and sold date. No login, no cookies, no account.

### What you get

| | |
|---|---|
| **Lot** | Title, brand, model, year, lot type (watch, car, number plate, part, bike), lot URL, main image |
| **Watch details** | Reference number, box, papers, age |
| **Car details** | Mileage, transmission, fuel type, drive side, model year |
| **Price** | Current bid, sold price, Buy It Now price, the lot currency, and the site's GBP / USD / EUR conversion |
| **Auction** | Live / coming soon / sold, number of bids, no-reserve, reserve met, reserve lowered, accepts offers |
| **Dates** | Auction end time, sold time, listing date (UTC) |
| **Where** | Town or city, country, region, seller type (private, trade or managed by Collecting) |

### How to use it

1. Pick the **Site**: watches (Collecting.com), cars (Collecting Cars) or both.
2. Pick the **Lots**: for sale now, live auctions, coming soon, **sold results**, or all.
3. Optionally add **Search terms** such as `rolex submariner`, `patek nautilus` or `porsche 911 gt3`, and filters.
4. Set **Max lots** and run.

Leave the search terms empty to get every lot of the chosen kind. **Max lots** is the total for the run, shared fairly between your searches.

#### Input examples

Sold Rolex Submariners, most expensive first:

```json
{
  "site": "watches",
  "listingStage": "sold",
  "searchTerms": ["rolex submariner"],
  "sortBy": "price_desc",
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

Every watch for sale right now (live and coming soon):

```json
{
  "site": "watches",
  "listingStage": "forsale",
  "maxItems": 0
}
```

Porsches sold on Collecting Cars in the last 30 days:

```json
{
  "site": "cars",
  "listingStage": "sold",
  "makes": ["Porsche"],
  "lotTypes": ["car"],
  "soldWithinDays": 30,
  "sortBy": "sold_newest"
}
```

Dealer watches between $5,000 and $20,000, sold in the last 90 days:

```json
{
  "listingStage": "sold",
  "vendorTypes": ["trade"],
  "minPrice": 5000,
  "maxPrice": 20000,
  "priceCurrency": "USD",
  "soldWithinDays": 90
}
```

You can also paste **lot URLs** (`collecting.com/for-sale/…`, `collectingcars.com/for-sale/…`) or **collecting.com search URLs** (`/buy`, `/sold`, `/coming-soon`, with the search and filters you set on the site) into **Lot or search URLs**.

### Output example

```json
{
  "site": "collecting.com",
  "auctionId": 92849,
  "title": "1970s Rolex Explorer II",
  "url": "https://collecting.com/for-sale/1970s-rolex-explorer-ii",
  "lotType": "watch",
  "make": "Rolex",
  "year": "1970",
  "yearNumber": 1970,
  "referenceNumber": "1655",
  "hasBox": false,
  "hasPapers": false,
  "stage": "sold",
  "saleFormat": "auction",
  "currency": "GBP",
  "currentBid": 11750,
  "soldPrice": 11750,
  "priceGBP": 11750,
  "priceUSD": 15584,
  "priceEUR": 13754,
  "bids": 18,
  "noReserve": true,
  "reserveMet": true,
  "soldAt": "2026-10-01T14:50:12.000Z",
  "listedAt": "2026-09-24T14:00:07.000Z",
  "location": "London",
  "countryCode": "GB",
  "region": "UK",
  "vendorType": "managed",
  "features": { "age": "1970s", "hasBox": "Box: No", "hasPapers": "Papers: No", "referenceNumber": "1655" },
  "tags": ["70s", "bracelet", "stainless-steel", "black", "automatic", "gmt", "40-45mm"],
  "imageUrl": "https://images.watchcollecting.com/092849/MAIN.jpg",
  "searchQuery": "rolex explorer",
  "position": 1,
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-01T22:42:14.177Z"
}
```

Every row has the same columns; a value the lot doesn't have is `null`. The dataset has three ready-made views: **Overview**, **Sold prices** and **Live auctions**.

### Use cases

- **Price guides and valuations**: real hammer prices for a reference, with box and papers, year and date sold.
- **Market tracking**: follow what Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet or Porsche lots fetch month by month.
- **Dealer sourcing**: watch live and coming-soon lots, no-reserve auctions and auctions ending soon.
- **Auction alerts**: schedule a run every hour with **Lots: Live auctions** and **Sort by: Ending soonest**.
- **Research and journalism**: export years of sold results in one run.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Collecting.com or Collecting Cars account, cookies or a login?** No. The scraper uses the same public search the sites' own pages use for every visitor, and reads nothing behind a login. It needs nothing from you except what to search.

**How many lots can I get?** All of them. There are about 7,000 sold watch lots and about 27,000 car, plate and part lots, plus everything for sale now. Set **Max lots** to 0 to get everything your search finds.

**How fast is it?** Very fast: up to 250 lots per request, so 1,000 sold results take a few seconds and the whole sold-watch archive takes well under a minute.

**Why are some prices `null`?** A seller can hide the sold price (`soldPriceHidden` is then `true`), a coming-soon lot has no bid yet, and a lot without a Buy It Now option has no `buyNowPrice`.

**Which currency are prices in?** `currentBid`, `soldPrice` and `buyNowPrice` are in the lot's own currency (`currency`). `priceGBP`, `priceUSD` and `priceEUR` are the same price converted by the site, so lots in different currencies can be compared. The price filter uses the currency you pick.

**Why does "year" sometimes say "1970" for a 1970s watch?** The site lists vintage watches by decade. `year` is what the site shows; `yearNumber` is the first year as a number, and the year filter uses it.

**Is there seller information?** Only the seller type (private, trade or managed by Collecting) and the lot's town and country. The scraper never collects seller names, seller IDs, bidder IDs or map coordinates.

**Which proxy should I use?** Keep the default (Apify Proxy, datacenter). It comes with every Apify plan, including the free one. If the site refuses datacenter IPs for a while, the run switches to residential proxies when your account has them, and carries on without them when it doesn't.

**What does a run cost?** A small fee per run plus a fee per lot saved. See the Pricing tab. Lots left out by your filters are never charged.

**Is it legal to scrape Collecting.com and Collecting Cars?** This Actor only collects publicly available data: auction lots that anyone can see on Collecting.com or Collecting Cars without an account, such as the title, brand, year, bids, prices and dates. Collecting publicly available data is generally legal, but you're responsible for how you use it. Some lots are sold by private individuals; the scraper never collects seller names, seller or bidder IDs or exact locations, only the seller type and the town. You must follow privacy laws such as GDPR, PIPEDA and CCPA, as well as the sites' terms. If you're unsure, check with a lawyer. More on this: [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/)

**Does it access any private data?** No. Everything comes from what the sites show to any visitor without logging in. It never uses a login, never touches user accounts, watch lists, bids or messages, and follows the sites' robots.txt.
