## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US New Business Filings — NY, CO, OR, CT (Official Registries)

Get the companies that were **just formed** in New York, Colorado, Oregon and Connecticut, straight from each state's official open-data registry, in **one clean table**. Each row has the business name, entity type (LLC, corporation…), formation date, address, registered agent or filer, county (NY) and NAICS industry (CT). Works with no input, needs no API key, and costs **$1.50 per 1,000 businesses**.

**Who it's for:** Insurance agents, banks and lenders, payroll and accounting firms, merchant services, web/marketing agencies, office suppliers and anyone selling to brand-new businesses. A new company needs all of these in its first weeks.

### Why this actor

- **Official sources only**: the Secretary of State open-data feeds published by each state. No scraping of search pages, no proxies, no CAPTCHAs.
- **One schema for four states.** The same field names for every state, so it drops straight into a CRM, Google Sheets or a mail-merge.
- **New since last run:** schedule it daily and get only businesses you haven't seen before. It's a ready-made lead feed.
- **Filters that matter for sales:** name keyword ("dental", "construction", "realty"), entity type (LLC, CORPORATION, NONPROFIT), date range.
- **Fast and cheap:** the four states are fetched in parallel. A default run takes a few seconds. You pay per result only.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `states` | Which registries to search: NY, CO, OR, CT (default all four). |
| `daysBack` | Businesses formed in the last N days (default 7) when no dates are set. |
| `formedFrom` / `formedTo` | Exact date range, YYYY-MM-DD. |
| `keyword` | Business name contains this text. |
| `entityTypeContains` | Entity type contains this text, e.g. LLC. |
| `maxItems` | Maximum businesses to output, split evenly across states (default 100). |
| `newSinceLastRun` | Output only businesses not returned before (same `stateKey`). |
| `stateKey` | Name of the memory for "new since last run". Use one per saved search. |

### Output example

```json
{
  "registryState": "CT",
  "entityId": "3535752",
  "businessName": "Bestpath-GTFO LLC",
  "entityType": "LLC",
  "filingType": "REGISTRATION",
  "status": "Active",
  "formationDate": "2026-10-18",
  "jurisdiction": "Connecticut",
  "naics": "Software Publishers (513210)",
  "address": "320 Spruce St",
  "city": "Cheshire",
  "stateCode": "CT",
  "zip": "06410",
  "agentOrFilerName": null,
  "source": "Connecticut Secretary of the State — business registry",
  "sourceDataset": "https://data.ct.gov/d/n7gp-d28j",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-20T06:34:16.341Z"
}
```

What each state gives you:

- **NY**: new LLCs, corporations and foreign registrations (Articles of Organization, Certificate of Incorporation, Application of Authority) with county, filer name/address and the address for service of process. NY publishes filings with a delay of 1–3 business days.
- **CO**: principal address, registered agent name and address, status.
- **OR**: principal place of business and a link to the state record.
- **CT**: business address, status and NAICS industry code. Owner e-mail addresses are deliberately **not** included.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.0015 per business** ($1.50 per 1,000). Runs that find nothing cost almost nothing. Set "Max cost per run" in Apify to cap spending.

### Tips

- Daily lead feed: schedule with `daysBack: 3`, `newSinceLastRun: true`.
- Niche leads: `keyword: "construction"` + `entityTypeContains: "LLC"`.
- Need more states? Open an issue. More registries are being added.
