## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews in 100+ Countries: Topics & Insights

Collect Apple App Store reviews from **many countries in one run** and get them back **already analyzed**: the language of every review, complaint topics detected in 30+ languages (Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Portuguese, German and more), sentiment, app version, and a free **per-country insight report**.

Most review scrapers give you raw text for one country. This one tells you **where** and **why** users are unhappy.

### What you get

- **Review rows** (one per review): country, detected language, stars, sentiment, topics (`crashes_bugs`, `login_account`, `pricing_subscription`, `ads`, `performance`, `update_regression`, `customer_support`, `ui_ux`, `feature_request`, `privacy_security`, `praise`), title, text, app version, date, helpful votes.
- **Optional translation** of every review into English (or any language) with your own DeepL or Google key. A free DeepL key is enough for most apps.
- **Insight report** (free, one row per app):
  - store rating and rating count **per country**, and a worldwide weighted rating
  - recent-review average vs lifetime rating per country ("recent sentiment is clearly worse in Japan")
  - top complaints per country, as a share of negative reviews
  - average rating per app version (spot a bad release)
  - language mix of reviewers
  - **localization gaps**: big markets where the app is not translated into the local language
  - storefronts where the app is not available
- **Change tracking** (optional): the next run flags new reviews, rating moves and new versions per country. Use "Only new reviews" mode for cheap daily monitoring.

### Use cases

- Find which countries drag your rating down, and why, without reading 10 languages.
- Monitor competitors' complaints in markets you plan to enter.
- Prioritize localization: see markets with many ratings but no local-language version.
- Feed product, support and ASO teams with a clean, tagged dataset.

### How to use

1. Paste one or more App Store URLs (or numeric ids).
2. Choose countries (e.g. `jp`, `kr`, `de`, `br`, `tr`, `sa`) or tick **All supported storefronts**.
3. Run. Open the **Reviews** view for rows and the **Insight report** view for the summary.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo-language-lessons/id570060128"],
  "countries": ["us", "jp", "de", "br", "kr", "tr", "sa"],
  "maxReviewsPerCountry": 100,
  "includeSummary": true
}
```

#### Example review row

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appName": "Duolingo: Learn Languages",
  "country": "jp",
  "countryName": "Japan",
  "languageName": "Japanese",
  "rating": 2,
  "sentiment": "negative",
  "topics": ["pricing_subscription", "ads"],
  "title": "広告が多すぎる",
  "text": "…",
  "textTranslated": "Too many ads …",
  "appVersion": "7.145.1",
  "date": "2026-10-25T07:27:09.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

**$0.50 per 1,000 reviews**, no start fee. The insight report, change rows and error rows are never charged. You can set a maximum spend per run; the Actor stops as soon as it is reached.

### Reliability

- One bad app id or country never stops the run; it becomes an error row.
- Automatic retries with backoff; polite request pacing.
- Language detection uses the storefront's language as a hint, so short reviews are classified correctly.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** It reads Apple's public review feed and public app lookup data. No login, no personal data beyond what Apple shows publicly; reviewer names are not collected.

**How many reviews per country?** Apple's public feed exposes up to 500 of the most recent (or most helpful) reviews per country. Run it daily with change tracking to build a full history.

**Do I need a translation key?** No. Topics and the insight report work in all supported languages without translation. A key only adds translated text.

**Which countries?** 100+ storefronts, including Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, the Gulf states, Brazil, Latin America and all of Europe.
