## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper - Reviews (No 500 Cap), Apps, Search & Charts

Scrape Apple App Store reviews, app details, keyword search results and top charts in any country. Built for review monitoring, ASO, competitor research, sentiment analysis and AI agents.

- **Reviews past the 500 limit.** Most App Store review scrapers read Apple's RSS feed, which stops at 500 reviews per app and country. This Actor reads the same review list the App Store website uses, so you get every review Apple serves: often thousands per country.
- **4 sort orders**: most recent, most helpful, most favorable, most critical. Filter by star rating (e.g. 1-2 stars only) and by date.
- **Monitor mode**: schedule the Actor and every run returns only reviews posted since the last run.
- **App details** with what the iTunes API leaves out: rating histogram (1-5 stars), privacy labels, current chart position, in-app purchases with prices, version history, similar apps.
- **Keyword search** (up to 200 results per term, with rank) and **top charts** (free, paid, grossing; iPhone or iPad; by category; up to 100).
- Many apps × many countries in one run. Paste App Store URLs, app IDs or bundle IDs.
- Reviewer names are not collected.

Need Android too? [Google Play Scraper](https://apify.com/zhyou/google-play-scraper) is the companion Actor: same input style and monitor mode, reviews with developer replies, $0.10 per 1,000 reviews.

#### Keyword search and top charts modes

One row per app with the same core fields as app details (name, developer, price, rating, rating count, version, genre, description, screenshots, ...) plus `searchTerm` and `rank`, or `chart`, `chartGenreId` and `rank`.

### How to use

1. Pick **What to scrape**.
2. **Reviews** or **App details**: add apps, one per line. Any of these works:
   - `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997`
   - `310633997`
   - `net.whatsapp.WhatsApp`
3. **Keyword search**: add search terms. **Top charts**: pick a chart and optionally a category.
4. Set **Countries** (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp`, ...). Every app, term or chart is scraped in every country.
5. Run, then download the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.

#### Review options

- **Max reviews per app and country**: `0` = everything Apple serves.
- **Sort reviews by**: most recent (default), most helpful, most favorable, most critical.
- **Only reviews since**: `2026-01-01`, or `-30` for the last 30 days. With most recent sorting the Actor stops as soon as it reaches older reviews, so you don't pay for pages you don't need.
- **Min / max stars**: e.g. min 1, max 2 to collect complaints only. You are charged only for reviews that pass the filter.

#### Monitor new reviews

Turn on **Monitor mode**, choose a **Monitor key** (e.g. `my-apps-daily`) and schedule the Actor daily or hourly. The first run returns the latest reviews (up to your max); later runs return only reviews that are new since the previous run. Use a different key for each independent schedule and don't run two runs with the same key at the same time. Connect the dataset to Slack, email, Make, n8n or Zapier to get alerts for new 1-star reviews.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "mode": "reviews",
  "appIds": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997", "com.burbn.instagram"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 0,
  "reviewSort": "recent",
  "reviewsSince": "-90",
  "maxRating": 2
}
```

**Code examples:** runnable Python and Node.js scripts for this Actor (scheduled runs, CSV export, cost caps) are in [github.com/zhyouhh/apify-travel-and-app-data-examples](https://github.com/zhyouhh/apify-travel-and-app-data-examples).

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.0001 per review** ($0.10 per 1,000) and **$0.0005 per app row** (app details, search result or chart position), plus $0.00005 per run start. Proxy and compute are included.

Example: 10,000 reviews of one app cost about $1. Tracking 20 apps daily in monitor mode costs only the new reviews each day. Failed requests, filtered-out reviews and duplicates are never charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops exactly there.

### Notes and limits

- Reviews come from Apple's own lists, so how deep you can go depends on the app and country; large apps typically have thousands of reviews per country.
- Search ranks follow Apple's iTunes Search API, which closely matches but can differ slightly from the order inside the App Store app.
- Top charts come from Apple's chart feeds, which list up to 100 positions.
- Apple rate-limits requests per IP address. The Actor sends every request through a fresh Apify Proxy IP and retries automatically; keep the default proxy settings.
- Data is public App Store content. Reviewer names are not collected.

### FAQ

**Is there really no 500-review limit?** The 500 limit belongs to Apple's RSS feed (10 pages of 50). This Actor uses the paginated review list behind apps.apple.com, which goes further.

**Can I get reviews from all countries?** Add every country code you need to **Countries**. Each country has its own reviews.

**Do I need an Apple account or API key?** No.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Reviews of apps, full app details, keyword search results or a top chart.

## `appIds` (type: `array`):

Reviews and App details modes. App Store URLs, numeric app IDs (e.g. 310633997) or bundle IDs (e.g. com.burbn.instagram), one per line.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Keyword search mode. One keyword per line.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

App Store storefronts as 2-letter codes (us, gb, de, jp, ...). Every app, search term or chart is scraped in every country. Reviews differ by country.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

0 = all reviews Apple serves (often thousands, not just 500).

## `reviewSort` (type: `string`):

Apple's own sort orders.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

Optional. YYYY-MM-DD, or -N for the last N days (e.g. -30). With Most recent sorting the scraper stops paging at this date.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Only reviews with at least this many stars.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Only reviews with at most this many stars, e.g. 2 for complaints only.

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

Remembers which reviews were delivered (per monitor key, app and country). Schedule the Actor and every run returns only reviews posted since the last run. Uses Most recent sorting.

## `monitorKey` (type: `string`):

Name of the watch list. Use different keys for independent schedules.

## `maxResultsPerTerm` (type: `integer`):

Keyword search mode. Up to 200.

## `chart` (type: `string`):

Top charts mode.

## `chartGenre` (type: `string`):

Top charts mode. Leave empty for all apps.

## `maxChartResults` (type: `integer`):

Top charts mode. Apple's chart feeds have up to 100 positions.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Parallel requests. Lower it if you see many retries.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apple limits requests per IP, so every request goes out through a fresh Apify Proxy IP. Datacenter proxies work well.
