## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Scraper - Reviews, App Details & Search

Scrape Google Play reviews, app details and keyword search results in any country and language. Built for review monitoring, ASO, competitor research, sentiment analysis and AI agents.

- **All reviews Google Play serves**, 500 per request, with **developer replies**, reply dates, the **app version** each review was written for and helpful votes.
- **3 sort orders**: newest, most relevant, rating. Filter by star rating (e.g. 1-2 stars only) and by date.
- **Monitor mode**: schedule the Actor and every run returns only reviews posted since the last run.
- **App details**: installs (bucket and exact count), rating with 1-5 star histogram, price, in-app purchase price range, contains ads, content rating, version, minimum Android version, last update, top chart position, privacy policy, descriptions, screenshots and similar apps.
- **Keyword search** with rank, the same results the Google Play website shows.
- Many apps × languages × countries in one run. Paste package names or Google Play URLs.
- Reviewer names and avatars are not collected.

Need iOS too? The [Apple App Store Scraper](https://apify.com/zhyou/apple-app-store-scraper) is the iOS counterpart with matching input fields and output columns.

```
Run **App details** on the app IDs you find to get the full set of fields.
### How to use
1. Pick **What to scrape**.
2. **Reviews** or **App details**: add apps, one per line. Either works:
   - `com.whatsapp`
   - `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp`
3. **Keyword search**: add search terms.
4. Set **Languages** (`en`, `de`, `es`, `pt-BR`, `ja`, ...) and **Countries** (`us`, `gb`, `de`, ...).
5. Run, then download the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.
#### Languages and countries
Google Play groups reviews by **language**, not by country: `en` returns English reviews from every country, `de` returns German reviews. To get reviews from Germany, add the language `de`. Reviews use the first country in your list.
App details and search run in every country and language you add. The country sets price, currency, availability and chart position; the language sets the text (description, release notes, genre names).
#### Review options
- **Max reviews per app and language**: `0` = everything Google Play serves.
- **Sort reviews by**: newest (default), most relevant, rating (highest first).
- **Only reviews since**: `2026-01-01`, or `-30` for the last 30 days. With newest sorting the Actor stops as soon as it reaches older reviews, so you don't pay for pages you don't need.
- **Min / max stars**: e.g. min 1, max 2 to collect complaints only. You are charged only for reviews that pass the filter. Setting min and max to the same value (e.g. 1 and 1) lets Google do the filtering, which is the fastest.
#### Monitor new reviews
Turn on **Monitor mode**, choose a **Monitor key** (e.g. `my-apps-daily`) and schedule the Actor daily or hourly. The first run returns the latest reviews (up to your max); later runs return only reviews that are new since the previous run. If more new reviews arrive between runs than your max, set the max higher (or to 0) so none are skipped. Use a different key for each independent schedule and don't run two runs with the same key at the same time. Connect the dataset to Slack, email, Make, n8n or Zapier to get alerts for new 1-star reviews.
#### Input example
```json
{
  "mode": "reviews",
  "appIds": ["com.whatsapp", "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.telegram.messenger"],
  "languages": ["en", "de"],
  "countries": ["us"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 0,
  "reviewSort": "recent",
  "reviewsSince": "-90",
  "maxRating": 2
}
```
**Code examples:** runnable Python and Node.js scripts for this Actor (scheduled runs, CSV export, cost caps) are in [github.com/zhyouhh/apify-travel-and-app-data-examples](https://github.com/zhyouhh/apify-travel-and-app-data-examples).
### Pricing
Pay per result: **$0.0001 per review** ($0.10 per 1,000) and **$0.0005 per app row** (app details or search result), plus $0.00005 per run start. Proxy and compute are included.
Example: 10,000 reviews of one app cost about $1. Tracking 20 apps daily in monitor mode costs only the new reviews each day. Failed requests, filtered-out reviews and duplicates are never charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops exactly there.
### Notes and limits
- Reviews come from Google Play's own lists. In our tests the Actor paged through all 15,000+ English reviews of a mid-size app back to 2016; for the largest apps (millions of reviews) Google decides how deep the list goes.
- Google Play has no review titles, so there is no `title` field (the App Store Actor has one).
- Keyword search returns what the Google Play website shows: about 30 apps per search, or a highlighted exact match plus about 20 others. Google serves no further pages.
- `rating`, `ratingCount` and `ratingHistogram` are `null` for apps with too few ratings. `version` and `minimumOsVersion` say "Varies with device" when the developer ships different builds per device.
- Top charts are not offered: Google Play's website no longer has chart pages. The app details row includes the app's chart position when it has one.
- Every request goes out through a fresh Apify Proxy IP and is retried automatically on another IP if Google rate-limits it; keep the default proxy settings.
- Data is public Google Play content. Reviewer names and avatars are not collected.
### FAQ
**Can I get reviews from a specific country?** Google Play doesn't split reviews by country, only by language. Add the language of that country (e.g. `ja` for Japan).
**Do I need a Google account or API key?** No.
**Is there an iOS version?** Yes, the [Apple App Store Scraper](https://apify.com/zhyou/apple-app-store-scraper) works the same way for App Store reviews, app details, search and top charts.
# Actor input Schema
## `mode` (type: `string`):
Reviews of apps, full app details or keyword search results.
## `appIds` (type: `array`):
Reviews and App details modes. Package names (e.g. com.whatsapp) or Google Play URLs (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp), one per line.
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
Keyword search mode. One keyword per line.
## `countries` (type: `array`):
Google Play countries as 2-letter codes (us, gb, de, jp, ...). App details and search run in every country (price, currency and availability differ). Reviews depend on the language, not the country, so reviews use the first country only.
## `languages` (type: `array`):
Language codes (en, de, es, pt-BR, ja, ...). Google Play groups reviews by language: en returns English reviews from all countries, de returns German reviews. Every app (and search term) is scraped in every language. Details and search text are returned in this language.
## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):
0 = all reviews Google Play serves.
## `reviewSort` (type: `string`):
Google Play's own sort orders.
## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):
Optional. YYYY-MM-DD, or -N for the last N days (e.g. -30). With Newest sorting the scraper stops paging at this date.
## `minRating` (type: `integer`):
Only reviews with at least this many stars.
## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):
Only reviews with at most this many stars, e.g. 2 for complaints only. Set min and max to the same value (e.g. 1 and 1) to let Google filter, which is fastest.
## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):
Remembers which reviews were delivered (per monitor key, app, language, country and star filter). Schedule the Actor and every run returns only reviews posted since the last run. Uses Newest sorting.
## `monitorKey` (type: `string`):
Name of the watch list. Use different keys for independent schedules.
## `maxResultsPerTerm` (type: `integer`):
Keyword search mode. Google Play shows about 30 apps per search (20 when an exact match is highlighted) and no further pages.
## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):
Parallel requests. Lower it if you see many retries.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Every request goes out through a fresh Apify Proxy IP and is retried on another IP if Google rate-limits it. Datacenter proxies are the default.
