## Pricing

from $2.10 / 1,000 observed product prices

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Open Prices Product Price

Find observed product prices by barcode, or pull recent price observations from the Open Prices dataset. Each useful row includes the product, shop, price, currency, observation date and a direct source link. Open Prices is crowd sourced, so these are dated observations rather than live checkout prices or stock claims.

### What you get

- Product prices from the public Open Prices API, with duplicate observations filtered at the source.
- A bounded result count of 1–20 observations per run.
- Source attribution and the ODbL data license in every useful row.
- A free diagnostic row when the query has no usable price or the source is unavailable.

You can schedule this Actor on Apify to compare dated observations over time. It uses a fixed official API host and does not use a proxy or log in to any shop.

### How to run it

1. Enter a barcode in **Product barcode**, or leave it blank to request observations from the last 30 days.
2. Optionally set **Currency** or **Observed on or after**. The date filter applies only when the barcode is blank.
3. Set **Maximum price observations** from 1 to 20 and run. Check `observedDate` before treating a price as recent.

### Pricing

The Store price is $0.003 per useful observed price row, charged through one `result-found` event. Empty results, source errors and buyer limit messages request no `result-found` event. Apify compute usage is separate from event charges.

| Useful observed price rows | Actor event charges |
|---:|---:|
| 10 | $0.030 |
| 100 | $0.300 |
| 1,000 | $3.000 |

These examples assume every delivered row is useful and billed. A single run is capped at 20 observations, so 100 or 1,000 rows require multiple runs. Platform compute usage is separate.

### Input

| Field | Required | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| `productCode` | No | Optional exact barcode. Leave blank to get recently observed product prices. An exact barcode may have older observations; check observedDate in every row. |
| `dateFrom` | No | YYYY-MM-DD. Used only when productCode is blank. Default is the last 30 days. |
| `currency` | No | Optional three-letter currency code such as EUR. |
| `maxResults` | No | Maximum number of source observations requested and paid result rows delivered. |

```json
{
  "productCode": "8000070059313",
  "currency": "EUR",
  "maxResults": 2
}
```

### Output

This row comes from a successful Actor run completed 2026-11-01T13:53:51.593Z. Values are copied from its dataset.

}
```
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `found` | True when a useful price observation exists. |
| `productCode` | Queried product barcode. |
| `productName` | Product name in Open Prices. |
| `price` | Numeric price or dated observation. |
| `currency` | Currency code. |
| `shop` | Shop named in the price observation. |
| `observedDate` | Date of the source price observation. |
| `sourceUrl` | Direct attribution URL for the observation. |
| `dataLicense` | License attached to the source data. |
### FAQ / Limitations
#### Source and license
Data comes from the [Open Prices project](https://prices.openfoodfacts.org/) by Open Food Facts. Its [data guide](https://openfoodfacts.github.io/open-prices/guides/data/) identifies the Open Database License (ODbL). Keep the source attribution and the ODbL notice when reusing or sharing results; ODbL share-alike obligations may apply to a derived database. The Actor does not collect proof photos, receipt text, contributor names or addresses.
The API can return old observations for a barcode. A result with a shop and price does not prove the shop still sells the item or has it in stock. A changed API, time out or malformed response produces a diagnostic rather than a paid price row. For a source or output problem, include the Actor run ID when contacting the author through Apify Issues.
#### Frequently asked questions
**Is this a live shop price?** No. The Open Prices dataset contains dated observations; check the `observedDate` and source link before using a row.
**Can I reuse the data?** Follow Open Prices attribution and ODbL conditions linked above, including any share-alike duties for derived databases.
**What happens when the barcode has no observations?** The Actor writes a free diagnostic rather than a paid row.
The [official Open Prices data guide](https://openfoodfacts.github.io/open-prices/guides/data/) says: “Make sure you comply with the OdBL licence, mentioning the source of your data”. This is a data-license requirement, not a claim that observations are live shop offers.
