Practical Actors for research and automation

Hi, I’m Brian.

I use Apify to publish small, useful tools that turn public web data into structured outputs for decision-making. I’m especially interested in Actors that help with:

  • market and competitor research
  • product pain-point discovery
  • lightweight business intelligence
  • recurring monitoring and alerts
  • workflow automation for small teams and indie builders

My goal is not to ship flashy demos. I want to ship Actors that are:

  • useful on day one
  • cheap to run
  • easy to understand
  • easy to integrate via API
  • honest about limitations

Current focus

Right now I’m exploring Actors that help identify real-world software pain and commercial opportunities from public signals such as reviews, listings, and structured web content.

Published / in progress

  • App Store Review Pain Miner — mines low-star public Apple App Store reviews into categorized pain points and grouped opportunity ideas.

What to expect from my Actors

When possible, I prefer:

  • deterministic or explainable logic before expensive AI layers
  • flat, analysis-friendly datasets
  • clear input schemas and practical example runs
  • outputs that support downstream workflows in spreadsheets, notebooks, or other automations

Who these tools are for

These Actors are a good fit for:

  • indie developers looking for product ideas
  • founders doing lightweight market validation
  • operators who need recurring monitoring
  • researchers who want structured outputs instead of raw browsing

Notes

  • I favor public-data workflows and low-friction inputs.
  • I treat marketplace tools as products, not throwaway scripts.
  • If an Actor is in beta, I’ll say so clearly.

If you use one of my Actors and have feedback, edge cases, or feature requests, that feedback is especially useful early on.
