Find companies similar to your best customers or to a competitor. Enter one to ten seed company domains and get lookalike companies ranked by a 0 to 100 similarity score, with the evidence behind each score: the distinctive words their homepage shares with the seed, how often they came up in the seed's "alternatives", "vs", and "competitors" searches, whether a comparison page or list names them, and the tools on their site. Optional checks add a business model match, Reddit co-mentions, and shared app marketplace listings. Rows are flat, so they export to CSV or drop into a Clay table.
Features
- Seeds in, companies out. One to ten seed domains per run, up to 100 lookalikes, best first.
- Evidence on every row.
score_breakdown_jsonshows the points from each part, so you can see why a company ranks where it does. - Candidates from comparison searches. Search result pages for "
- Content sites removed. Review sites, list articles, media, and social networks are never returned as a lookalike.
- Optional business model match. Runs Mamba Labs Website Phrase and Business Model Classifier on the seeds and the top candidates.
- Optional Reddit and marketplace evidence. Runs Mamba Labs B2B Reddit Conversation Monitor and Integration and Marketplace Presence Mapper.
How it reads its sources
Search result pages from Bing through the Apify proxy, with Google through the Apify GOOGLE_SERP proxy when Bing returns fewer than 3 results off the seed's own site that name the seed, or when the seed's own pages fill 40 percent or more of the Bing page. One homepage read per seed and per candidate, direct first and through the Apify proxy when a site refuses. robots.txt is read once per host and checked before every homepage request. No API key, no login, and no other developer's actor. The optional checks run three Mamba Labs actors as child runs from your Apify account.

Pricing
Pay per event. You pay only these events; the Apify platform and proxy costs of this actor's own run, search pages included, are paid by Mamba Labs.
| Event | Free plan | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Lookalike company (lookalike-company): one company returned | $0.005 | $0.00475 | $0.0045 | $0.00425 |
Actor start (apify-actor-start), once per run | $0.0005 | $0.0005 | $0.0005 | $0.0005 |
Free rows: the seed summary row, no results rows, and error rows. On the Apify free plan the actor stops at 1.50 USD of evaluation a month (about 300 lookalike companies); any paid Apify plan removes that cap.
The optional checks start Mamba Labs actors from your Apify account, and Apify charges you their own prices beside the ones above:
- Compare business models (on by default): Website Phrase and Business Model Classifier, one
domain-classifiedevent per seed and candidate checked (0.0045 USD each on its Free plan price as of 2026-10-21) plus its start event. With one seed andclassify_top_n15, about 0.07 USD. - Add Reddit co-mentions: B2B Reddit Conversation Monitor, up to 25 thread rows and 1 summary row per seed (0.0018 and 0.003 USD each on its Free plan price), about 0.05 USD per seed.
- Add marketplace overlap: Integration and Marketplace Presence Mapper, one
listing-foundevent per marketplace listing found (0.002 USD each on its Free plan price).
Example: one seed with 25 lookalikes and the business model check costs about 0.126 USD here plus about 0.07 USD for the classifier.
Usage examples
Apify Console or API
{ "seed_domains": ["smartlead.ai", "instantly.ai"], "max_results": "25" }
{ "seed_domains": ["gong.io"], "use_classifier": "true", "use_marketplaces": "true", "exclude_domains": ["mycompany.com"] }
Clay
Add an Apify column, send a customer domain as seed_domain, and read company_domain, similarity_score, and shared_keywords from the rows. Sort by similarity_score and filter on has_pricing_page to keep product companies.
MCP
The MCP server @mambalabsdev/mcp-lookalike-company-finder exposes this actor as a tool for Claude and other MCP clients.
Error handling
| Situation | What you get |
|---|---|
| No search page can be read | One free seed summary row with row_status blocked |
| No candidate reaches the minimum score | One free seed summary row with row_status no_results |
| A candidate homepage refuses or is down | That candidate is left out |
| A child run fails | Its score part stays 0, the seed summary names the child, and the run goes on |
| Max charge reached | The run stops before the next billable row and says why in the status message |
Limitations
- Candidates come from comparison searches. A company that no "alternatives", "vs", or "competitors" page names, and no list article lists, is not found. More seeds from the same market find more.
- Similarity reads one homepage per company: the title, the description, and the main headings. A company whose homepage says little scores low on words.
- Products named only in list snippets are matched to the common domains for the name (name.com, name.io, name.ai, and a few more); a product on another domain is not matched.
- Search engines return different pages from day to day, so two runs on the same seeds can rank a few companies differently.
