My journey started as a noob at the edge of a massive world with basic gear in hand, a keyboard and my first quest into web scraping with no idea what bosses await. At first the mission seemed easy: find data extract it and complete the quest.
Then came the boss fights:
Messy HTML, dynamic pages, broken selectors, failed requests, changing DOM structure, honeypot results and the legendary "It worked yesterday".
But that's how you gain XP
Every failed scraper was a lesson, the broken project became a puzzle, the difficult site pushed me to learn more. Slowly the noob started leveling up.
Eventually, I got tired of fighting the same bosses with basic equipment, so I started crafting my own gear.
- Scrapers became my weapons.
- Automation became my magic.
- Utilities became my consumables.
- Debugging became my training ground.
I began building tools to automate repetitive tasks, collect useful data, and make difficult quests easier. Some were created because I needed them. Others came from thinking, “Surely someone else has fought this boss too.”
That's when the side quests became interesting. Instead of keeping everything in my inventory, I started crafting tools for other players—whether you're new to scraping, collecting data, automating repetitive work, or simply looking for better gear.
Some projects may be legendary gear. Others may still need upgrades. There will be easy quests, difficult quests, unexpected side quests, and bosses that appear out of nowhere.
And inevitably, something will break five minutes before it needs to work.
That's part of the game. The web is a massive world with endless dungeons to explore, problems to solve, and tools to craft. I'm still grinding XP, upgrading my gear, and expanding the map.
