Talent movement tracking and human capital risk assessment using alternative workforce signals from patents, job postings, ORCID, GitHub, and SEC insider data. This MCP server orchestrates 7 data sources to produce Talent Velocity Scores (0-100), Brain Drain Indices, Competitive Capability Maps, and Executive Flight Risk assessments. Decode competitor strategy from hiring patterns, track inventor movement across organizations, and quantify human capital risk with INVEST/MONITOR/CAUTION/AVOID verdicts.

Data Sources

  • Job Market Intelligence -- Job posting analytics providing hiring volume, role distribution, seniority mix, and functional area breakdown for strategic direction inference
  • USPTO Patent Search -- US patent inventor data enabling inventor continuity tracking, IP creation velocity measurement, and technology domain analysis
  • EPO Patent Search -- European patent filings for global inventor tracking and cross-border IP activity assessment
  • ORCID Researcher Profiles -- Academic researcher profiles with verified employment history and affiliation changes for brain drain detection
  • Company Deep Research -- Comprehensive company profiles providing organizational context for workforce analysis
  • GitHub Repo Search -- Open source repository activity measuring engineering team output, contributor diversity, and technical domain breadth
  • SEC Insider Trading -- Form 4 executive stock transactions where selling cessation patterns indicate departure preparation and executive flight risk

How the scoring works

The MCP produces four scoring dimensions:

Talent Velocity Score (0-100) measures hiring acceleration by function. Rapid engineering hiring signals building phase. Predominant sales hiring indicates scaling. Heavy executive search suggests strategic transition. The score captures not just volume but the rate of change and functional composition shift.

Brain Drain Index tracks patent inventor departure and researcher attrition rates against industry baselines. Uses USPTO and EPO patent data to identify inventors who filed for one organization and later filed for another. ORCID affiliation changes reveal researcher mobility patterns. Multi-affiliation researchers and declining inventor continuity signal talent outflow.

Competitive Capability Map synthesizes job posting requirements, patent technology domains, and GitHub repository focus areas into an inferred technology roadmap. Identifies where a company is investing technical talent and how its capabilities compare to competitors.

Executive Flight Risk analyzes SEC Form 4 insider trading patterns. Executive stock selling cessation (an insider who regularly sold stock suddenly stops) historically correlates with departure preparation. The system tracks sell/buy ratios, large transaction frequency, and trading pattern changes to score flight risk.

The composite Human Capital Risk score weights Brain Drain Index at 55% and Executive Flight Risk at 45%.

VerdictInterpretation
INVESTStrong talent pipeline, stable leadership, growing capabilities
MONITORAdequate workforce health, some signals worth tracking
CAUTIONElevated brain drain or executive flight risk, attention needed
AVOIDCritical talent instability, significant human capital risk

Use cases for workforce competitive intelligence

Decoding Competitor Strategic Pivots

Analyze hiring patterns to infer strategic direction changes. A sudden surge in ML engineer hiring reveals an AI pivot months before public announcements. Sales hiring acceleration signals go-to-market expansion.

M&A Human Capital Due Diligence

Assess human capital risk for acquisition targets. Quantify brain drain, executive flight risk, and talent pipeline strength to inform valuation and retention planning.

Inventor Movement and IP Risk

Track patent inventor movement between organizations to detect IP talent outflow. Identify when key inventors leave for competitors and assess the impact on future innovation capacity.

Talent Strategy Benchmarking

Compare two companies side-by-side on hiring velocity, patent output, GitHub activity, and insider trading patterns. Identify which competitor has stronger talent momentum and technical capabilities.

Academic Research Talent Monitoring

Detect researcher attrition through ORCID affiliation changes. Identify when university researchers move to industry or competitor institutions, signaling potential technology transfer.

Executive Retention Early Warning

Monitor SEC Form 4 insider trading patterns for executive flight risk signals. Selling cessation and unusual transaction patterns provide early warning of potential executive departures.

How much does it cost?

This MCP uses pay-per-event pricing. You are only charged when a tool is called.

The Apify Free plan includes $5 of monthly platform credits.

Example UseApproximate Cost
Hiring signal analysis for one company$3.00
Inventor movement tracking$3.00
Human capital risk assessment$5.00
Full workforce dossier (all 7 sources)$5.00

How it works

  1. You provide a company name via any MCP client
  2. The MCP runs up to 7 Apify actors in parallel querying job markets, USPTO, EPO, ORCID, company research, GitHub, and SEC insider trading
  3. Scoring algorithms process the combined data -- Talent Velocity, Brain Drain, Competitive Capability, and Executive Flight Risk are computed
  4. Structured JSON is returned with scores, verdicts, inventor lists, hiring breakdowns, insider transactions, and actionable signals

For the generate_workforce_dossier tool, all 7 actors run simultaneously and all 4 scoring models are applied to produce a comprehensive workforce intelligence report with an overall verdict.

FAQ

Q: Does this access LinkedIn profiles directly? A: No. It uses job posting analytics (aggregate hiring data), patent inventor data, and ORCID researcher profiles to infer workforce composition and movement patterns without accessing individual social profiles.

Q: How does executive flight risk detection work? A: The system analyzes SEC Form 4 insider trading filings. When an executive who regularly sells stock suddenly stops selling, this historically correlates with departure preparation (executives stop selling before announcing departures to avoid insider trading issues).

Q: Can it track individual employees? A: The system tracks patent inventors (named on public patent filings) and ORCID-registered researchers (who opted into public profiles). It does not track individual employees beyond these public records.

Q: How current is the hiring data? A: Job posting data is fetched live at query time, reflecting currently active job listings. Patent and SEC data may lag by weeks depending on filing processing times.

Q: Is it legal to use this? A: All data sources are publicly available databases including government patent offices, SEC filings, and researcher opt-in profiles. See Apify's guide on web scraping legality.

Q: Can I combine this with other MCPs? A: Yes. Use alongside the M&A Target Intelligence MCP for acquisition target screening or the Startup Ecosystem Intelligence MCP for innovation velocity analysis.
