Is there a way to specify a transcript language?

I would like to specify a particular language and retrieve transcripts only in that language. Could you provide guidance on how to do this, if possible?

Hi royal_paradise, Hope you’re doing well today. Just to clarify your request: are you asking if the video was originally produced in another language, or would you like a transcript in a different language apart from the original language it was produced?

Hello, There are cases where a video contains subtitles in multiple languages. In such cases, I would like to specify a particular language and collect only the subtitles in that language.

For example, if the video creator has uploaded subtitles in English, Korean, and Japanese, I would like to specify "Korean" and retrieve only the Korean subtitles.

Additionally, if the specified language is not available, I would like to know if it is possible to retrieve automatically translated subtitles in the selected language as an alternative.

I really appreciate the great work on this feature. Thank you!

Hey there, Thanks so much for your thoughtful suggestion and the kind words, they really mean a lot! 😊

Here's the plan:

  1. Specified Subtitle Retrieval: In our upcoming update, you’ll be able to select a particular subtitle language (for instance, Korean) so that only those subtitles are retrieved, matching the accuracy you expect from YouTube.
  2. Auto-Translated Subtitles: If the chosen language isn’t available, we’ll offer automatically translated subtitles as a fallback. Please note that while this option works well, the accuracy might not be as high as the native subtitles.

These features will be added to the new version we’re launching next week. Thanks again for your support, we’re always here to serve and improve your experience! 👍
