What is Craigslist Scraper?

Craigslist Scraper extracts listings from Craigslist search results: for sale, housing, cars, jobs, gigs and services, in any of Craigslist's 700+ areas worldwide. Give it search terms and areas ("road bike" in "sfbay; newyork") and it returns each listing with its title, price, posted date, category, area, neighborhood, coordinates, images and a working link. It uses the same JSON search API the Craigslist site itself calls, so it's fast and needs no browser or login. $1 per 1,000 listings.

Use it for price research, deal alerts, rental market analysis, used-car and resale sourcing, or local lead generation.

How to use Craigslist Scraper

  1. Enter Search terms, several separated by ;. Leave empty to list the newest posts of the category.
  2. Enter Areas: hostnames such as newyork, sfbay, losangeles, london, toronto (or nyc, new york city, or a craigslist URL), several separated by ;.
  3. Optional: set a Category (sss all for sale by default; bia bicycles, cta cars & trucks, apa apartments, jjj jobs…) and a price range.
  4. Set Max listings per search (up to 360) and run. Download the listings as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them through the API.

How much does it cost?

Pay per result: $0.001 per listing ($1 per 1,000), with volume discounts on paid Apify plans. Areas or searches that fail are listed in the ERRORS record and cost nothing. Set Maximum cost per run to cap spend.

Limits

  • At most 360 listings per search. Craigslist's search API returns the 360 most relevant listings for one term in one area, even when it reports more. For more coverage, split by category (bia instead of sss), by more specific terms, or by nearby areas.
  • The price filter is applied to the returned listings, so listings without a price are skipped when it's set.
  • The listing body text and the poster's contact details aren't collected. They are on the listing page, and contact details sit behind Craigslist's reply system.

Using Craigslist Scraper with AI agents

The Actor is pay-per-event with limited permissions, so AI agents can call it through Apify's MCP server (mcp.apify.com), for example with {"queries": "iphone 15", "areas": "chicago", "maxListings": 50}. It also accepts query, keywords, area, city, cities and location.

FAQ

Is scraping Craigslist legal? The Actor reads the public search results Craigslist shows to anyone, without logging in or posting. Craigslist's terms restrict automated access and reuse, so check that your use is allowed, and don't use the data to spam posters.

Which areas are supported? Every area in Craigslist's own area list (about 700, in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Asia and elsewhere). Unknown areas are reported in ERRORS.
