Bank Regulatory Intelligence Scraper pulls FDIC bank profiles (charter, assets, deposits, net income, prior names) and optionally quarterly financials, structural history, branches, failures, deposit market share and CFPB consumer complaints. Enter a bank name, export CSV, Excel, JSON or API. No login, no API key. Institution rows cost $0.0111 each.

This FDIC bank data scraper searches the official FDIC BankFind API (banks.data.fdic.gov) by bank name and returns one clean row per matching institution. A search for "Wells Fargo" matches 35 FDIC institutions, active and historical. Each extra data type is a toggle: turn it on and it is attached to the same row and billed per real record found. It is built for compliance teams, credit analysts, fintech researchers and journalists who need bank regulatory data without stitching two government sources together.

🏦 What does the Bank Regulatory Intelligence Scraper do?

  • Search FDIC-insured institutions by name ("Wells Fargo", "Chase", "Ally").
  • Get charter class, regulator, address, total assets, total deposits, net income and prior names for each match.
  • Pull quarterly financial reports (assets, deposits, net income, equity, ROA, ROE).
  • Pull structural history: name changes, mergers and charter changes.
  • Pull branch addresses with coordinates, plus FDIC Summary of Deposits figures by branch and year.
  • Check whether the bank failed, with resolution type, cost and acquirer.
  • Attach real CFPB consumer complaints (product, issue, state, narrative, company response).

🧾 Sample output of the FDIC bank scraper

Real row from a run with bankName: "Wells Fargo", financials, deposit market share and complaints turned on (nested arrays shortened to one entry, complaint narrative removed):

{

}

An extra you did not turn on shows "Not Requested". Data the bank genuinely does not have (most banks never failed) shows "N/A". A complaint narrative is "N/A" when the consumer did not consent to publish it.

πŸ’° How much does it cost to scrape FDIC and CFPB bank data?

Pay per event. You pay only for real records delivered. Failed searches, empty searches and toggles you leave off cost nothing. If you set a maximum charge per run, the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

EventWhat you getPrice (Free plan)
institution-recordOne bank profile row$0.01111
financial-recordOne reporting quarter$0.01
history-recordOne structural change$0.01
location-recordOne branch$0.01
deposit-market-share-recordOne branch-year deposit record$0.01
failure-recordOne failure record$0.01556
complaint-recordOne CFPB complaint$0.02

Paid Apify plans get lower prices per event (institution rows drop to $0.01). Example: 10 banks with 2 quarters of financials each costs 10 x $0.01111 + 20 x $0.01 = $0.31. The Apify Store page always shows the current prices.

▢️ How to scrape FDIC bank data in 3 steps

  1. Open the Actor on Apify and type a bank name, for example "Wells Fargo".
  2. Set Max Items and switch on only the extras you need (financials, history, locations, failures, deposit market share, complaints).
  3. Click Start, then download the dataset as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML, or read it through the API.

"maxComplaints": 20
}

πŸ“¦ Output

One dataset row per matched institution, with the extras nested on the same row. The Overview view shows the key columns (record type, bank, charter, city, state, assets, deposits, website). The full dataset has every nested field. If the bank name matches nothing, the run finishes successfully with a clear status message and no charge. If the FDIC API is down or the input is invalid, the run fails with a clear message and no charge.

βš–οΈ Bank regulatory data scraper vs alternatives

Prices read from the public Apify Store listings on 2026-10-03.

ActorScopePrice
FDIC-only actors (several)Institution profile only$0.001 to $0.008 per bank
CFPB-only actors (several)Complaints only$0.002 to $0.012 per complaint
This ActorFDIC profile plus 6 optional data types and CFPB complaints in one row$0.0111 per bank, $0.02 per complaint

We are more expensive per row. What the extra buys: one run covers seven record types from two agencies, and complaints are matched to the right company. FDIC legal names rarely equal CFPB company names ("Wells Fargo Bank, National Association" versus "WELLS FARGO & COMPANY"), so the Actor resolves the CFPB name through CFPB's own company typeahead before filtering. If you only need a flat institution list, a cheaper FDIC-only actor is enough.

πŸ’‘ Use cases

  • Compliance and regulatory affairs: monitor charter changes, mergers and complaint volume by product.
  • Credit and investment research: screen banks by assets, deposits, ROA and ROE over time.
  • Fintech competitive intelligence: compare branch footprints and local deposit share.
  • Journalism and consumer advocacy: put a bank's profile next to its real complaint history.

πŸ”Œ Run it via API, schedule and integrations

Use the Apify client for Python or JavaScript, schedule runs after each quarterly call report, and connect results to Zapier, Make, n8n or Google Sheets. The Actor also works as a tool for AI agents through the Apify MCP server, since every input field has a default.

The Actor reads public data from the FDIC BankFind API and the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database, both published by US government agencies for public use. It does not log in or bypass anything. Complaint narratives appear only when the consumer consented to publication. You remain responsible for how you use the data, including privacy rules in your jurisdiction.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key for FDIC or CFPB? No. Both sources are public and the Actor needs no key from you.

Why did I get 0 results? FDIC found no institution whose name matches. Try a shorter or more exact name ("Chase" instead of "JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A."). Empty searches finish successfully and are not charged.

Why is a field "Not Requested" or "N/A"? "Not Requested" means you left that extra off. "N/A" means the source has no value, for example no failure record for a bank that never failed.

Are the money values in dollars? FDIC reports assets, deposits and net income in thousands of USD. 1907928000 means about $1.9 trillion.

Why are complaints sometimes missing for a bank? The Actor looks up the bank in the CFPB company list. If CFPB has no company that matches the name, complaints is "N/A" and nothing is charged for it.

How many banks can one search return? Up to 100 matches per search, capped by maxItems. Free plan runs are limited to 10 rows.

How fresh is the data? As fresh as the FDIC and CFPB APIs: financials update quarterly, complaints continuously.

What happens if I set a maximum charge per run? The Actor stops cleanly once the limit is reached and reports how many rows were delivered.
