Podcast Lookup

Look up any show on Apple Podcasts by its collection ID and get back its full directory listing — name, publisher, genres, episode count, RSS feed URL, artwork, content rating, and latest release date — plus its 10 most recent episodes, each with title, description, audio URL, release date, and duration. This calls Apple's own official iTunes Lookup API directly, not an RSS-feed scrape or a browser, so it returns Apple's canonical metadata in one request.

Features

• Collection ID → full show profile. Name, publisher, genres, episode count, content rating, artwork, and store link, straight from Apple's own directory.
• Episode data included, no extra request. The 10 most recent episodes come back with every lookup — title, description, direct audio URL, release date, and duration — same price as a show-only lookup.
• One row per show, or one row per episode. Turn on "One row per episode" to get a flat table of episodes instead of a nested list — you're still only charged once per show either way.
• RSS feed included. feedUrl gives you the raw feed URL too, for anything this actor's episode data doesn't cover.
• Pay only for hits. Collection IDs that don't resolve cost nothing; see Pricing.
• Built for bulk. Feed in a list of collection IDs; concurrency is configurable.

Where do I find a podcast's collection ID? It's the numeric ID in the show's podcasts.apple.com URL, right after id — for example, 1200361736 in .../the-daily/id1200361736.

What happens if the ID doesn't belong to a podcast? You get a dataset row with "found": false. Apple's API returns resultCount: 0 for an invalid or delisted ID, and this actor also guards against a non-podcast Apple ID (e.g. an app or audiobook) slipping through as a false match.

Do I need an Apple Developer account or API key? No. The iTunes Lookup API is free and public — no authentication required.

Can I get episode-level data, not just the show profile? Yes — every lookup includes the show's 10 most recent episodes (title, description, audio URL, release date, duration) at no extra cost. Turn on "One row per episode" to get a flat table instead of a nested list. For a show's full historical episode archive beyond the 10 most recent, fetch the feedUrl (its real RSS feed) directly.
