🇦🇷 BCRA Argentina Statistics Scraper

Pull Argentina's official central bank numbers as dated rows: reserves, the policy rate, the peso exchange rate, inflation and the rest of the BCRA series. Each observation arrives with its variable ID, description, category, value, unit and date. No API key, no registration, no login.

Banco Central de la República Argentina publishes its statistical series on its own site and endpoints. Reading one number is easy. Reading forty of them on a schedule, with the date attached and the unit spelled out, is a morning's work every time you need it. This Actor fetches the master list of variables, or the history of the ones you name, and writes every observation as a flat row you can open in a spreadsheet.

Who uses itWhat they use the series for
💼 Buyers of Argentine businessesConverting peso cash flow at the published rate instead of the seller's rate, and checking revenue growth against inflation
📉 Analysts covering the regionKeeping a dated FX, rate and reserves history behind a model without retyping it each quarter
🏦 Lenders and credit teamsWatching the policy rate and reserves before pricing or renewing exposure in Argentina
📰 Economists and data journalistsBuilding a series by variable ID and charting it from a clean export

📋 What it does

💡 Why it matters: a peso P&L is not comparable year on year until you attach the exchange rate and the price index that sat underneath it. Those numbers have one official source, and this pulls them dated.

  • 🗂 Master list mode. Leave variableIds empty and the Actor returns the available variables with their latest value, so you can read the catalogue and pick what you need.
  • 🎯 Targeted mode. Name one or more variable IDs and the Actor fetches the history for those series.
  • 📅 Date window. dateFrom and dateTo in YYYY-MM-DD limit the history returned. They apply when variableIds is set.
  • 🏷 Unit and description on every row. You never have to guess whether a value is millions of dollars, a percentage or pesos per dollar.
  • 📦 One row per observation, the same eight fields every run, so several runs append into one dataset.
  • 💾 Exports to CSV, Excel, JSON or XML, from the run page or the API.

📊 Output

Every observation is one flat row with eight fields.

✨ Why choose this Actor

What you get
The official figureThe numbers come from the central bank's own statistics, not from a news article quoting them.
No credentialsThe BCRA endpoints are public. No API key, no account, no approval process.
Dated rows, not a chartEvery value carries its own date and unit, which is what a model needs and a chart image is not.
The catalogue is discoverableRun it empty once to read the variable list, then run the IDs you care about.
You pay per rowNo subscription. A run that returns nothing costs nothing.

🚀 How to use it

  1. Create a free Apify account. New accounts start with $5 of credit.
  2. Open the Actor and select Try for free.
  3. Leave variableIds empty on the first run to see the catalogue.
  4. Take the IDs you want, put them in variableIds, and set dateFrom and dateTo for the history you need.
  5. Select Start, then export from the Dataset tab as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.

Read the catalogue:

{
"variableIds": [],
"maxItems": 10
}

Pull two series over a date window:

{
"variableIds": [1, 4],
"dateFrom": "2025-01-01",
"dateTo": "2026-09-01",
"maxItems": 50
}

🔌 Integrate with any app

The dataset is available through the Apify API as soon as the run finishes. Use run-sync-get-dataset-items for a one-shot call, webhooks to trigger what happens next, or the Make, Zapier, Airbyte and LangChain integrations listed on the Actor page. A daily schedule keeps an FX and rate history current without anyone opening the site.

🤖 Use with an AI agent

Give an agent live access to the series over the Model Context Protocol:

$claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=acquistion-automation/bcra-argentina-statistics-scraper"

Then ask it in plain language for the current exchange rate or reserves figure and have it read the row back.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How do I find the ID for the indicator I want? Run the Actor with variableIds empty. The master list comes back with the ID, description and category for each series, so you can search the description and take the ID from there.

Are the descriptions in Spanish? Yes. description, category and unit come through exactly as BCRA publishes them, which is Spanish. Nothing is translated, so the text matches the source if you need to cite it.

Why are there gaps between dates? Not every series is daily. Some are monthly or quarterly, and BCRA publishes nothing on holidays and weekends for the daily ones. The rows you get are the observations that exist.

I set a date range and got nothing back. The date window only applies when variableIds is set. Check the format is YYYY-MM-DD, and check the series actually covers that period; some start later than others.

Is the data live? The Actor reads the BCRA endpoints at run time, so you get whatever the central bank has published by then. Publication lags differ by series.

What can I export? CSV, Excel, JSON and XML from the run page, or JSON straight from the API.
