Track newly published Rust packages, updated crate releases, download counts, descriptions, documentation links, and code repositories from crates.io.

Features

  • Scrapes the official crates.io registry for newly published releases, trending packages, and recent download spikes.
  • Captures crate names, latest semantic versions, project descriptions, and author links.
  • Extracts total all-time downloads, 90-day download velocity, and verified docs.rs documentation references.
  • Runs via direct public REST endpoints without API tokens or rotating proxy networks.
  • Exports structured records immediately to JSON, CSV, Excel, or automated API endpoints.

Input parameters

  • Sort Order: Choose between Recently Updated (new version releases), All-Time Downloads, Recent Download Velocity, or Newly Created Crates. Default is recent-updates.
  • Maximum Crates: Total number of Rust packages to extract. Default is 50, maximum is 100.

Output dataset fields

Each dataset record contains:

  • name: Crate package name registered on crates.io (for example: tokio, serde, syn).
  • version: Latest published semantic version string.
  • description: Project summary description provided by the package maintainer.
  • downloads: Total all-time downloads recorded across all versions.
  • recentDownloads: Downloads recorded over the last 90-day rolling window.
  • homepage: Official project landing page or marketing website.
  • repository: Direct URL to the GitHub or GitLab source code repository.
  • documentation: Direct link to the official docs.rs crate documentation.
  • cratesIoUrl: Permanent link to the package listing on crates.io.
  • updatedAt: Timestamp of the most recent version upload.
  • createdAt: Timestamp when the crate was initially registered.
  • sort: Sort category applied during extraction.
  • scrapedAt: UTC timestamp when the record was extracted.

Use cases

  • Rust ecosystem intelligence: Discover emerging libraries, utilities, and CLI tools written in Rust.
  • Dependency auditing: Monitor package releases for critical dependencies in systems programming stacks.
  • Security supply chain monitoring: Detect newly created crates and suspicious package registrations early.
  • Market research: Measure download adoption trends for Rust frameworks and WebAssembly modules.
