What does Yelp Scraper do?

Yelp Scraper extracts business data directly from Yelp's website using curl_cffi with browser TLS fingerprint impersonation. It captures business names, ratings, review counts, phone numbers, addresses, categories, price ranges, opening hours, coordinates, and (optionally) recent reviews.

How it works

1. Fetch: Uses curl_cffi with browser TLS impersonation. When Yelp blocks the direct connection (DataDome), it automatically falls back to Google's translate.goog proxy — Google fetches the page from its own IPs (treated as a benign crawler), so no proxy service is needed
2. Parse: Extracts data from Apollo state (embedded JSON) with fallbacks to JSON-LD, rendered HTML, and meta tags
3. Reviews: When maxReviews > 0, fetches recent reviews through Yelp's cookie-free GraphQL endpoint (paginated with the server's cursor, newest first) and attaches them to each business row
4. Resilient: Blocked/failed pages become explicit error rows, duplicate businesses are deduplicated, and every input item produces a row

Notes

• Each input item always produces exactly one row: successful, deduplicated away, or an explicit error row (bad URL, 404, or page blocked after retries)
• Direct URLs and search results are deduplicated by Yelp business ID, so the same business appears only once per run
• Yelp pages are protected by DataDome; if a page stays blocked after retries, the row records the error instead of failing the run
