Search filters

  • query - topic or keyword, e.g. technology, startup, yoga
  • location - city, e.g. Berlin, New York
  • radiusMiles - how far around that city to search
  • startDate / endDate - the date window
  • onlineOnly - restrict to online events
  • maxItems - how many events to save

Example input

{
"query": "technology",
"location": "Berlin",
"radiusMiles": 25,
"maxItems": 100
}

Use cases

  • Event marketing and sponsorship - find active communities in a city and see how big their audience really is
  • Community lead generation - identify organisers and groups worth partnering with, sorted by member count
  • Developer relations - plan a speaking tour by mapping relevant meetups per city and month
  • Market research - measure how much local activity a technology or hobby generates by region
  • Recruiting - locate the communities where the people you want to hire actually gather
  • Venue and hospitality sales - see which groups regularly need space and how many attendees they bring

Why Meetup

Meetup remains the default platform for recurring in-person communities in most Western cities, and it exposes both the event and the group behind it. The combination of RSVP counts and group size is the practical way to tell an active community from a dormant one before investing time or sponsorship money.

Notes

  • rsvp_count is a snapshot; running the actor repeatedly before an event shows how registration builds.
  • max_rsvp is empty when the organiser set no capacity limit.
  • Free events return fee_usd as zero or empty; paid events report the organiser's stated price.
  • Coordinates are present for physical venues and absent for online events.
