Houzz Scraper

Houzz contractors, architects and designers — phone, website, address, rating, reviews, license and Best of Houzz awards — as clean JSON.

Scrape Houzz professionals for lead generation: contractors, architects, interior designers and every home-improvement trade. Get phone, website, address, rating, reviews, license number, Best of Houzz awards, services and areas served from any Houzz search or profile URL. Pick a category and a city on Houzz, paste the search, and the Actor walks every page of results in Houzz's own order. Each professional comes with the contact person, typical job cost, a rating breakdown for work quality, communication and value, the state license Houzz verified, followers and project count, and, if you want them, every client review with the business's reply. There is no login and no API key. Built for home-services lead generation, building-supply and software sales teams, market research on local trades, and agencies that market to contractors.

🧩 Input

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
startUrlsarrayyes—Houzz professionals searches for any category and location, such as https://www.houzz.com/professionals/general-contractor/san-francisco-ca-us-probr0-bo~t_11786~r_5391959, or profile pages. Your filters are kept.
includeDetailsbooleannotrueOpen every profile for its website, contact name, services, areas served, license, awards, rating breakdown, followers and project count. Turn it off for a faster run with the search-card fields only.
includeReviewsbooleannofalseAdd each professional's client reviews, newest first, with rating, text, date, reviewer, project cost and the business's reply. Opens every profile, even with profile details off.
maxReviewsintegerno—Maximum number of reviews to keep per professional, for example 20. Leave it empty to get every review, up to 1,024.
maxItemsintegerno—Maximum number of professionals per start URL. The input form starts at 5; a search shows 15 professionals a page, so leave it empty to get every result the search lists.
proxyConfigurationobjectno{ "useApifyProxy": false }Proxy settings. Houzz works without a proxy from the Apify platform; switch to a datacenter proxy if requests start getting blocked.

Search or profile URLs. Open houzz.com/professionals, choose a category (general contractors, architects, interior designers, kitchen and bath remodelers, landscape contractors...) and type a city or ZIP code, then copy the address bar. Searches without a location work too, as do single profile pages. Include profile details is on by default; with it off, each row has what the search card shows (name, category, phone, address, coordinates, rating, review count, typical job cost, description and badges). Include reviews adds one request per professional. Maximum professionals per URL applies to each start URL separately. Leave the Proxy configuration off unless runs start failing.

📤 Output

Each professional is one dataset row, in the order the search ranks them. Sponsored placements Houzz mixes into the results are left out, so every row is an organic result and none repeats. Fields the business has not filled in are null (or empty), so every row has the same shape.

💡 Use cases

  • Lead generation for home services — build call lists of contractors, remodelers, architects or designers in any city, with phone, website, contact name and address.
  • B2B sales to the trades — find businesses that sell building supplies, software or financing a fit, filtered by typical job cost, Houzz Pro status and project count.
  • Vetting and due diligence — check license numbers, Best of Houzz history, rating breakdowns and recent reviews before hiring or partnering.
  • Market research — map how many pros of each kind work in an area, what they charge and how well they are rated.
  • Reputation monitoring — schedule a run on your own or competitors' profiles and track new reviews and replies.

❓ FAQ

  • Which searches work? Any Houzz professionals search: every category, with or without a location, including the filters you set on the site. Profile pages work too.
  • Do I need an account or an API key? No. The Actor reads the same public pages anyone can open.
  • How many professionals can I get per search? Every result the search lists. Houzz shows 15 a page and about 1,500 for a large city; for more, split the search by category or by nearby cities and add each as its own URL.
  • Why is a field null? Houzz only shows what the business filled in. Many profiles have no license number, no awards or no typical job cost, and the rating is null until a profile has reviews.
  • Are there email addresses? Rarely. Houzz sends messages through its own contact form, so an email appears only when a business lists one among its links. Pair the website with an email extractor to find more.
  • What does turning off profile details change? The run is much faster (one request per 15 professionals instead of one per professional), but rows only carry the search-card fields: name, category, phone, address, coordinates, rating, review count, typical job cost, description and badges.
  • Does it respect robots.txt? Yes. It only opens pages Houzz's robots.txt leaves open, and rejects start URLs it closes, such as keyword searches and sorted views.
  • Do I need a proxy? Not on the Apify platform. Houzz answers home and residential connections with a browser check, so if you see blocked requests, use a datacenter proxy rather than a residential one.
