What does Newegg Products Scraper do?

Newegg Products Scraper collects public product information from Newegg search results, category listings, and individual product pages. Give it search keywords or a Newegg URL. It follows listing pages until it reaches your maxItems limit or runs out of products. Each product appears once in the output dataset, even when it occurs in more than one search or on more than one page.

The Actor reads the visible product cards on listing pages. It also opens each product page and reads the page's embedded product data for stock, manufacturer identifiers, category, and specification values. You can request the first embedded page of customer reviews with includeReviews. Review coverage depends on the product page and is limited to reviews available in that embedded first page. The Actor does not require a Newegg login and does not access account-only content.

Product prices, availability, and reviews can change between runs. Results reflect what Newegg served during the run. The Actor uses a modest request pace and retries temporary blocks with a fresh proxy session. If the site continues to block a page, the run logs a warning and moves on when possible. It does not solve CAPTCHAs. Newegg is a third-party site; this Actor is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Newegg.

What data can you get?

The dataset contains one JSON object per unique product. Every record comes from a fetched product page. Detail fields are present when the product page exposes them. A missing value may be null or a field may be absent, depending on which page supplied the product.

FieldMeaning
idStable product identifier taken from its Newegg product URL.
sourceUrlProduct page URL used as the source for the record.
titleProduct title from the listing or product page.
itemNumberNewegg item number, including marketplace item numbers where shown.
priceCurrent primary price shown for the product.
currencyCurrency code for the price, normally USD.
brandBrand shown on the listing or product page.
imageProduct image URL supplied by Newegg.
ratingAverage rating when reviews exist.
reviewCountNumber of customer reviews when shown.
shippingShipping text shown on the listing card.
inStockStock state exposed in product detail data.
stockQtyQuantity reported in product detail data.
originalPriceOriginal unit price exposed on the product page.
lowestPrice30DaysLowest recent price value exposed on the product page.
mpnManufacturer part number.
upcUniversal product code when provided.
categoryProduct subcategory from product detail data.
imagesAll product image URLs from the product page gallery.
descriptionProduct description text; falls back to the key-feature list when the page has no long description.
sellerNameMarketplace seller name when the item is sold by a third party.
shipFromCountryCountry the item ships from.
freeShippingWhether Newegg flags the item with free shipping.
bulletPointsKey-feature bullet points from the product page (array of text lines).
specsNamed specification values from the product detail page.
reviewsFirst embedded page of review objects when requested.

The specs object varies by product type. A graphics card can have memory and interface values, while another product may have a different set of keys. HTML markup inside a specification value is stripped to text. Review objects contain a rating, title, body, and date when those values are supplied. Review text is customer content from Newegg and should be handled as source data.

How to use

Start with a search phrase such as rtx 4070. Choose a maximum number of products. The Actor opens each product page to collect stock and specification data. Enable includeReviews when you need the first embedded review page.

You can also give startUrls for a Newegg search page, category page, or individual product page. URLs must use HTTPS and a Newegg host. A product URL is useful when you already know the item and want its current product details. A category URL is useful when you want to browse a defined Newegg section. Search terms and start URLs can be combined; the Actor deduplicates products by their stable identifier.

The maximum is an output cap, not an estimate. Setting maxItems to 7 means the Actor pushes at most 7 products and stops when it has found 7. It does not emit a placeholder item for an empty search or a failed URL. For an empty search result, inspect the run log warning. If a URL is invalid, the run reports an input error.

Input

FieldTypeDefaultHow to use it
searchTermsString arrayNoneKeywords to search on Newegg.
startUrlsURL request arrayNoneNewegg search, category, or product pages.
maxItemsInteger50Maximum unique products, from 1 to 5000.
includeReviewsBooleanfalseRead first embedded review page when detail extraction is on.
minPriceNumberNoneSkip products priced below this USD amount.
maxPriceNumberNoneSkip products priced above this USD amount.
inStockOnlyBooleanfalseReturn only products Newegg shows as in stock.
proxyConfigurationObjectUS residential Apify ProxyConnection settings for Newegg requests.

Price and stock filters are applied to the product's current price and stock state after its page is read; products without a price are skipped when a price filter is set. Provide at least one search term or start URL. The Console prefill shows an example search; API callers need to supply their own target. maxItems controls the number of result records, including marketplace offers that have distinct Newegg product identifiers. If the same product appears under more than one search, it is still output once.

Example input for a fast listing run:

{
"searchTerms": ["rtx 4070"],
"maxItems": 10,
"includeReviews": false,
"proxyConfiguration": {
"useApifyProxy": true,
"apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"],
"apifyProxyCountry": "US"
}
}

For a product-focused run, use startUrls with a full Newegg product URL and keep details enabled. For multiple searches, add more strings to searchTerms. The Actor processes roots in the order supplied and then advances through listing page numbers. The request pace remains at most one request per second, so detail runs take longer than runs.

Output

This excerpt comes from a local prefill run with product pages enabled. The full record also contains more specification pairs; values can change on Newegg.

When reviews are enabled, reviews is an array of review objects from the product page's embedded first review page. The output schema allows null values because Newegg does not expose every property for every product.

Use id to join records from different runs. Use sourceUrl to open or cite the product page. price is the primary product price; an offer may also show a price range or other marketplace options on the site. The Actor reports the primary visible card price and the detail page value. A missing price is represented as null instead of zero.

How much does it cost?

The Actor is charged per result that it pushes to the dataset. maxItems is the direct way to cap result volume. Opening detail pages and reading the first embedded review page changes run time but does not produce separate result records. For the current charging terms, see this Actor's Pricing tab on Apify. Billing settings and platform usage can change, so check that tab before a large run.

Each product page adds a request and supplies the detail fields. Run size, target response times, temporary blocks, and proxy routing all influence completion time. The Actor stops when it reaches the requested result limit, so a narrower maxItems also limits the number of products it processes.

Use with AI agents (MCP)

An AI agent can discover and run this Actor through the Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to your MCP client configuration:

https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=axiomworks/newegg-products-scraper

The agent should provide a search target and a result limit. The Actor then returns structured product records that the agent can filter, compare, or summarize. Results are live site observations, so ask the agent to keep product claims tied to returned fields and to recognize that prices and stock may change.

Example prompts:

  • Search Newegg for rtx 4070 and return up to 10 products with title, item number, price, rating, and source URL.
  • Open this Newegg product URL and report its stock, manufacturer part number, category, and specifications.
  • Search Newegg for ddr5 32gb, include product details, and compare the returned specifications and prices.

If your MCP client exposes Actor input fields, searchTerms or startUrls selects the target. The Actor opens each product page. includeReviews controls the optional review array. The agent should avoid assuming that a null field means a negative answer: for example, null stock quantity means the page did not supply a usable quantity.

Integrations and API

The output dataset can be used in Apify integrations or fetched through the Apify API. The examples below show how to start a run. Supply your Apify API token through your normal environment or secret manager. Do not put credentials in shared scripts or documents.

Python example:

from apify_client import ApifyClient
import os
client = ApifyClient(os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"])
run = client.actor("axiomworks/newegg-products-scraper").call(run_input={
"searchTerms": ["rtx 4070"],
"maxItems": 10,
})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
print(item["title"], item.get("price"), item["sourceUrl"])

JavaScript example:

import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('axiomworks/newegg-products-scraper').call({
searchTerms: ['rtx 4070'], maxItems: 10,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
for (const item of items) {
process.stdout.write(`${item.title}: ${item.price} ${item.sourceUrl}\n`);
}

cURL example:

curl -X POST \
'https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/axiomworks~newegg-products-scraper/runs?waitForFinish=120' \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"searchTerms":["rtx 4070"],"maxItems":10}'

The run response contains a default dataset identifier. Fetch that dataset's items through the Apify API or use an Apify integration to send the records to your destination. For recurring monitoring, schedule repeated runs and compare stable id values with earlier output. A product's displayed price may vary by seller or over time, so use run timestamps in your downstream storage when comparing prices.

FAQ

Can I start from a product URL? Yes. Supply it in startUrls. A product URL is processed as one item when the page has usable product data. The Actor follows Newegg redirects while checking the destination host.

Does this collect all reviews? No. includeReviews returns only reviews embedded in the product page's initial data. The site may have more reviews behind other pages or interfaces. This Actor does not claim a complete review history.

Why is a value null or missing? Product cards and detail pages differ. Some products hide prices, have no reviews, or omit inventory and identifier fields. The Actor preserves missing information instead of inventing a value.

Why did my run return no products? Check the run log for an empty search, invalid page, or site block. Try a more common search phrase or a valid public Newegg URL. A temporary site block may clear on a later run.

What happens if I request seven products? The Actor pushes at most seven unique product records. If seven products are available from the supplied targets, it stops at seven, including when a listing page contains more products.

Does it require a browser? The public listing HTML and product page embedded data are read over HTTP. The Actor does not open a browser for normal runs.

Public product information can be subject to Newegg's terms and applicable law. You are responsible for how you collect, store, and use the data in your jurisdiction and for your intended purpose. This Actor accesses public pages without a login and does not bypass a CAPTCHA. It keeps a modest request pace and backs off when the site blocks a request. Review text can contain user-generated content; handle it with care in downstream use.

Feedback

If a field is missing, a page layout changes, or a search unexpectedly returns no products, share the input and the relevant run log with the Actor maintainer through Apify. Include a public product URL when possible and describe which output field you expected. Please do not include credentials or private account data in a report. Specific examples help reproduce extraction problems and distinguish a source-site change from a temporary block.
