What does Finance Yahoo Com Scraper do?

Yahoo Finance Scraper API extracts structured stock quotes from finance.yahoo.com screener lists: price, change, volume, market cap and valuation ratios for every symbol. Optional enrichment adds the company or fund profile and key statistics, dividends and splits, and the at-the-money call and put of the nearest expiration with strike, bid/ask, open interest, implied volatility and Black-Scholes option Greeks. Export as JSON or CSV, or read the dataset through the Apify API.

Key features

  • 💵 Structured pricing: structured price, change, changePercent, volume, marketCap, day range and 52-week range on every quote — numbers you can sort and compare without parsing text.
  • 🔍 Screener lists: pick one or more Yahoo Finance screener lists (most actives, day gainers, day losers, undervalued growth stocks, top mutual funds and more) with the query input.
  • 🔗 Paste-mode: paste finance.yahoo.com screener URLs into startUrls to scrape exactly the lists you picked in the browser.
  • 📋 Detail enrichment: turn on includeDetails for each symbol's company or fund profile and key statistics (valuation ratios, margins, share structure, dividends, earnings date).
  • 📈 Dividends, splits and option Greeks: opt in to includeEvents for each symbol's dividend and split history, and to includeGreeks for the at-the-money call and put with implied volatility, open interest and Black-Scholes delta, gamma, theta, vega and rho.
  • ♻️ Incremental mode: recurring runs emit only quotes that are new or changed since the last run, so a scheduled watchlist stays small.
  • 🔔 Notifications: Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp Cloud API, and generic webhook out of the box. Pair with incremental for daily new-listing alerts without pipeline glue.
  • 📦 Compact mode: core quote fields only (symbol, name, price, change, volume, market cap) for AI agents and MCP tools.
  • 🔌 MCP connectors: push a run summary into Notion via Apify's MCP connectors — no export step, no glue code. Opt-in, deterministic field mapping (no AI).
  • 📌 Change classification: each record carries a changeType of NEW / UPDATED / UNCHANGED / REAPPEARED / EXPIRED. Default emits NEW + UPDATED + REAPPEARED; opt into the others with emitUnchanged / emitExpired.
  • 📤 Export anywhere: Download the dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel from the Apify Console, or stream live via the Apify API and integrations (Make, Zapier, Google Sheets, n8n, …).

What data can you extract from Yahoo Finance?

Each result includes Core quote fields (type, symbol, name, quoteType, exchange, exchangeCode, currency, and marketState, and more) and detail fields when enrichment is enabled (detailFetched). In standard mode, all fields are always present — unavailable data points are returned as null, never omitted. In compact mode, only core fields are returned.

Detail enrichment is on by default and fetches each record's detail page — extra fields the search results omit.

Input

The main inputs are a search keyword and a result limit. Additional filters and options are available in the input schema.

Key parameters:

  • query — Which Yahoo Finance screener list to scrape, e.g. most_actives, day_gainers, day_losers, growth_technology_stocks, undervalued_growth_stocks, aggressive_small_caps, small_cap_gainers, most_shorted_stocks, undervalued_large_caps, top_mutual_funds, high_yield_bond. Use a JSON array for several lists in one run (e.g. ["day_gainers","day_losers"]). Required if no tickers, search terms or startUrls provided.
  • maxResults — Maximum total quotes (0 = unlimited). (default: 100)
  • startUrls — Paste raw screener URLs from finance.yahoo.com. Each URL becomes its own task; results are merged and deduped by symbol across all URLs. When provided, startUrls REPLACE the screener list field (each supported URL becomes one task; unsupported URLs are skipped, and if none is supported the run stops with an input error). (default: [])
  • tickers — Ticker symbols or Yahoo Finance quote URLs: AAPL, SPY, BTC-USD, EURUSD=X, ^GSPC, GC=F. Overrides screeners when set; one quote per symbol, in the order given. Symbols Yahoo Finance does not know are skipped. (default: [])
  • searchTerms — Company names, ISINs or other search terms (e.g. Apple, US0378331005). Each term is resolved to its top matching symbol and handled like a ticker. (default: [])
  • includeDetails — Also fetch the company/fund profile and key statistics for each symbol (one extra request per symbol). (default: true)
  • includeEvents — Add each symbol's dividend payments and stock splits within the chosen period (one extra request per symbol). (default: false)
  • eventsRange — How far back to list dividends and splits. Only used with Include Dividends & Splits. (default: "5y")
  • includeGreeks — Add the at-the-money call and put of the nearest expiration at least 7 days out (the nearest one if none is that far), with price, bid/ask, volume, open interest, implied volatility and Black-Scholes delta, gamma, theta (per day), vega (per 1 volatility point) and rho (per 1 percentage point of rate). Only for symbols that have listed options; others get empty values. One or two extra requests per symbol. (default: false)
  • riskFreeRate — Interest rate used for the Greeks, as a decimal (e.g. 0.043 for 4.3%). Leave empty to use the current 13-week US Treasury bill yield from Yahoo Finance. Only used with Include Option Greeks.
  • includeHistory — Add OHLCV candles (open, high, low, close, adjusted close, volume) for each symbol in the field history, oldest first. One extra request per symbol. (default: false)
  • historyRange — How far back the price history goes. Ignored when a History Start Date is set. (default: "1mo")
  • ...and 34 more parameters

Input examples

Incremental fields

When incremental mode is on, each record also carries:

  • changeType — one of NEW, UPDATED, UNCHANGED, REAPPEARED, EXPIRED. Default output covers NEW / UPDATED / REAPPEARED; set emitUnchanged: true or emitExpired: true to opt into the others.
  • isRepost, repostOfId, repostDetectedAt — populated when a new listing matches the tracked content of a previously expired one. Set skipReposts: true to drop detected reposts from the output.

How much does it cost to scrape Yahoo Finance?

Finance Yahoo Com Scraper uses pay-per-event pricing. You pay a small fee when the run starts and then for each result that is actually produced.

  • Run start: $0.00005 per run
  • Per result: $0.00081 per quote record

Example costs:

  • 10 results: $0.00814
  • 25 results: $0.02
  • 100 results: $0.081
  • 200 results: $0.16
  • 500 results: $0.41

Example: recurring monitoring savings

These examples compare full re-scrapes with incremental runs at different churn rates. Churn is the share of quotes that are new or whose tracked content changed since the previous run. Actual churn depends on your query breadth, source activity, and polling frequency — the scenarios below are examples, not predictions.

Example setup: 250 quotes per run, daily polling (30 runs/month). Costs scale linearly with the number of quotes.

Churn rateFull re-scrape run costIncremental run costSavings vs full re-scrapeMonthly cost after baseline
5% — stable niche query$0.20$0.01$0.19 (95%)$0.31
15% — moderate broad query$0.20$0.03$0.17 (85%)$0.91
30% — high-volume aggregator$0.20$0.06$0.14 (70%)$1.82

Full re-scrape monthly cost at the same cadence: $6.08. First month with incremental costs $0.50 / $1.08 / $1.97 for the 5% / 15% / 30% scenarios because the first run builds baseline state at full cost before incremental savings apply.

Platform usage is included in the per-result fee shown above.
