What does Local Switzerland Scraper do?

Local Switzerland Scraper extracts structured company data from local.ch — including contact details, full descriptions, location data, and seller ratings. It supports keyword search, location filters, and controllable result limits, so you can run the same query consistently over time. The actor also offers detail enrichment (full descriptions and contact information) where the source provides them.

Key features

  • ⭐ Ratings and review counts: rating and ratingCount for every record that has them.
  • 📍 Coordinates: latitude and longitude on each record that has a location, ready for a map.
  • 🏘️ Address: street, postalCode, city and country as separate fields for every record that lists them.
  • 📇 Contact details: phone, email and website where the record publishes them.
  • 🕒 Opening hours: openingHours and openStatus where the record publishes them.
  • 🖼️ Images: imageUrl on every record, ready for a catalog or a feed.
  • 🔍 Keyword search: search local.ch by keyword with the query input, in the place you name in location.
  • 🧭 Radius search: search around a point with lat, lon and radiusKm.
  • 🔗 Paste-mode: paste local.ch search-results URLs (any language, with or without ?sorting=rating) or single business profile URLs into startUrls. Each search keeps its language and order; each profile becomes one record.
  • ♻️ Incremental mode: recurring runs emit only directory entries that are new or updated since the last run with the same stateKey, and you pay only for the records delivered.
  • 🔔 Notifications: Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp Cloud API, and generic webhook out of the box. Pair with incremental for daily new-listing alerts without pipeline glue.

What data can you extract from local.ch?

Each result includes Core company fields (listingId, listingKey, title, name, entryType, url, portalUrl, and category, and more), detail fields when enrichment is enabled (description and detailFetched), and contact information (phone and email). In standard mode, all fields are always present — unavailable data points are returned as null, never omitted. In compact mode, only core fields are returned.

Detail enrichment is on by default and adds richer fields such as full descriptions and contact information where the source provides them.

Input

The main inputs are a search keyword, an optional location filter, and a result limit. Additional filters and options are available in the input schema.

Key parameters:

  • query — What to look for: a category, trade or business name — e.g. "Restaurant", "Zahnarzt", "Garage". Required if no startUrls provided. Use a JSON array for several searches, e.g. ["Restaurant","Bar"].
  • location — Where to search: a Swiss town, city or postal code — e.g. "Zürich", "8001", "Bern". Required: local.ch has no country-wide search, so give a town or postal code. Use a JSON array for several locations.
  • maxResults — Maximum total results (0 = unlimited). (default: 100)
  • startUrls — Paste local.ch URLs. A search-results URL must name a place and a search term (https://www.local.ch/de/q/zuerich/restaurant); its language (de/fr/it/en) and ?sorting=rating or ?sorting=alphanum are kept. A business profile URL (https://www.local.ch/de/d/...) returns that one business. Each URL becomes its own task; results are merged and deduped. When provided, start URLs REPLACE the search term, location, language and sort fields (unsupported URLs are skipped, and if none is supported the run stops with an input error). (default: [])
  • language — Site language for the search term / location search. Town names follow the language (Genève in fr, Genf in de); if a town is not known in the chosen language the run falls back to German for that search and says so in the log. Ignored for start URLs, which keep their own language. (default: "de")
  • sort — Order in which local.ch lists the results: relevance (the site's default), rating (best rated first) or alphanum (A–Z). With a result cap this decides WHICH businesses you get. Ignored for start URLs, which keep their own order. (default: "relevance")
  • includeDetails — Open each business page to also collect the description, e-mail address, social-media links and the daily opening hours. Turn off for a faster, address-and-phone-only run. (default: true)
  • descriptionMaxLength — Truncate description to N chars. 0 = no truncation. (default: 0)
  • compact — Core fields only (for AI-agent/MCP workflows). (default: false)
  • excludeEmptyFields — Drop null, empty-string, and empty-array fields from each record before push. Smaller payloads for AI agents and dashboards. (default: false)
  • incrementalMode — Compare against previous run state. stateKey is optional — defaults to a value derived from search inputs (queries, locations, startUrls) so different filter sets never share state. (default: false)
  • stateKey — Optional. Stable identifier for the tracked search universe. Leave empty to auto-generate from search inputs.
  • ...and 20 more parameters

Input examples

Basic search — One keyword in one Swiss town. location is required: local.ch has no country-wide search.

→ Full payload per result — all standard fields populated where the source provides them.

{
"query": "Restaurant",
"location": "Zürich",
"maxResults": 50
}

Radius search — Search a town, then keep only records within radiusKm of the point lat/lon. All three radius fields are needed together.

→ Only records whose coordinates fall inside the circle; records without coordinates are left out.

{
"query": "Restaurant",
"location": "Zürich",
"lat": 47.3769,
"lon": 8.5417,
"radiusKm": 2,
"maxResults": 50
}

French results, best rated first — language sets the language of the record URLs and town names; sort uses local.ch's own ordering.

→ Records with French local.ch URLs, highest rated first. A town local.ch does not know in French is searched in German instead.

{
"query": "Restaurant",
"location": "Genève",
"language": "fr",
"sort": "rating",
"maxResults": 50
}

Incremental tracking — Only emit records that changed since the previous run with this stateKey.

→ First run builds the baseline state. Subsequent runs emit only records that are new or whose tracked content changed. Set emitUnchanged: true to include unchanged records as well.

{
"query": "Restaurant",
"location": "Zürich",
"maxResults": 200,
"incrementalMode": true,
"stateKey": "restaurant-tracker"
}

Paste local.ch links — Paste search-results URLs (any language, with ?sorting=rating if you want it) or single business profile URLs. Start URLs replace query and location.

→ One record per pasted profile, and the results of each pasted search in its own language and order.

{
"startUrls": [
"https://www.local.ch/fr/q/geneve/restaurant?sorting=rating",
"https://www.local.ch/de/d/zuerich/8048/sauna/betriebsgenossenschaft-hallenbad-altstetten-K6jP1JMlJ_tGCrBLJEoRig"
],
"maxResults": 50
}

Compact output for AI agents — Return only core fields for AI-agent and MCP workflows.

→ Small payload with the most important fields — ideal for piping into LLMs without token overhead.

{
"query": "Restaurant",
"location": "Zürich",
"maxResults": 50,
"compact": true
}

Output

Each run produces a dataset of structured company records. Results can be downloaded as JSON, CSV, or Excel from the Dataset tab in Apify Console.

Incremental fields

When incremental mode is on, each record also carries:

  • changeType — one of NEW, UPDATED, UNCHANGED, REAPPEARED, EXPIRED. Default output covers NEW / UPDATED / REAPPEARED; set emitUnchanged: true or emitExpired: true to opt into the others.
  • isRepost, repostOfId, repostDetectedAt — populated when a new listing matches the tracked content of a previously expired one. Set skipReposts: true to drop detected reposts from the output.

  • Benchmark seller / dealer reputation using rating fields.

How much does it cost to scrape local.ch?

Local Switzerland Scraper uses pay-per-event pricing. You pay a small fee when the run starts and then for each result that is actually produced.

  • Run start: $0.0045 per run
  • Per result: $0.0009 per company record

Example costs:

  • 10 results: $0.013
  • 25 results: $0.027
  • 100 results: $0.095
  • 200 results: $0.18
  • 500 results: $0.45

Example: recurring monitoring savings

These examples compare full re-scrapes with incremental runs at different churn rates. Churn is the share of records that are new or whose tracked content changed since the previous run. Actual churn depends on your query breadth, source activity, and polling frequency — the scenarios below are examples, not predictions.

Example setup: 250 records per run, daily polling (30 runs/month). Costs scale linearly with the number of records.

Churn rateFull re-scrape run costIncremental run costSavings vs full re-scrapeMonthly cost after baseline
5% — stable niche query$0.23$0.02$0.21 (93%)$0.47
15% — moderate broad query$0.23$0.04$0.19 (83%)$1.15
30% — high-volume aggregator$0.23$0.07$0.16 (69%)$2.16

Full re-scrape monthly cost at the same cadence: $6.89. First month with incremental costs $0.69 / $1.34 / $2.32 for the 5% / 15% / 30% scenarios because the first run builds baseline state at full cost before incremental savings apply.

Platform usage is included in the per-result fee shown above.
